Hotty Toddy is right!

Wallace Washington with K's on each piece...my sister has Chantilly that was my grandmother's...and my mom has Chantilly too that was her mother's....I did register for Bucccellati Empire but I ended up just sticking with the Wallace Washington since my great aunt's set is enough for 20 people! I figure I can always borrow my mom's since she lives a mile from me now. While the Wallace is a little plain for my taste I love that it has K's on them. They look very pretty with my Haviland Val De Loire china and my Waterford Clarendon. My sister's china is fabulous Mottahedeh Tobacco Leaf! My mom said she always regretted not picking out what she wanted. So I picked out exactly what I wanted with a little help from her!
ETA: I forgot I have my grandmother's Lenox Wheat pattern from the 1940s. It's a lovely pattern and of course no one else wanted it so the AOII in me had to take it! Thank goodness her service for 18 fits in my sideboard with my Haviland. My house is not big and I didn't want to see it go up in the attic.

Thanks, OldOleMiss!! Too funny!

Love that Tobacco Leaf pattern - my cousin has it.

I believe this is the right guy.

This is the SWEETEST run I have ever seen!!! What a fabulous way to start the season :D

And as for china & silver... I feel like such a heathen! I have just 1 china service (Lenox Liberty) and I can't even remember the name of the silver pattern that I inherited from my grandmother. I should try to find out what it is.

Any Ole Miss ladies know what is appropriate to wear to water parties this weekend? Many of the girls are saying they are wearing Nike shorts and t-shirts. As the old saying goes: you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Don't you think that something even just slightly nicer would be better? Maybe shorts and nice shirt??? Or will you stand out in a negative way if you go against the tide?

Any suggestions?

Our Gamma Chi's said shorts and any color t-shirt that is not white, as that is what the actives are wearing. They really seemed to stress the casualty of water parties to us. I know all of the girls on my floor are planning on wearing that.

Rebelpnm is correct. There is a trend towards removing frills and making Recruitment more about making personal connections.

Otherwise known as everything ancient is new again.

Still, Nike shorts? Personally, I think I'd go with something more like capris or something.

MaryPoppins 09-05-2013 12:23 AM

Capris might be a little bit hot for day time wear on Sunday (detailed forecast towards bottom):

There are a lot of shorts out there that aren't Nike shorts. I would go ahead and wear a super cute pair of shorts that you would NOT wear to work out in. You are going to a party, after all. A cute pair of shorts that have an actual inseam would seem appropriate.

Would a casual sundress be too much? I feel like for during the heat of the day a light dress would be comfortable. Opinions?

MU2Driver 09-05-2013 07:53 AM

Wouldn't do it if I were you. "Everyone" will be wearing Nike shorts and t-shirts. I think you will feel self conscious even with capris as previously mentioned, and especially with a sundress.
