Sigma COB
So where does that put Sigma this year for new members and for chapter total?
It sounds like you are doing great this year. Congratulations on that, and keep up the enthusiasm! |
Well for the first pledge class (getting initiated this coming Friday!!) has 16 new members
the 2nd/Winter pledge class has 4 girls so far. we are still COB-ing though so we will probably get more :) (Our goal is 10) chapter total (without winter pledge class): 48 |
awesome
So it's totally within your realm to end up with a quota group of new members by the time all is said and done. Possibly even this semester still!
That's great. Here's one little tidbit that I don't know if you're being told in recruitment training. You have to ASK for the sale, the vote, whatever you want to call it. I think Sigma has always been better at that in informal than in formal, but #1 it's critical, and #2 it's a huge life lesson to learn. You've got to learn how to do that comfortably in business and sorority life is a great place to hone those skills. ex., I want you to be my sister, I am so looking forward to all the things we will do over the next 4 years, and for the rest of our lives, won't it be great when you decide who your first roommate will be in the house? Please put us on the top of your list! There's a million ways to say it, but you have to say it! Congratulations and continued good luck, and keep your website current! It's the only way most of us alums have of knowing what's going on, and we really do care. |
By the way, you should proudly update your figures here on Greek Chat on the various lists of new member classes.
Thanks! |

but yeah we were doing really awesome during recruitment so we were pretty surprised on bid day when we learned that we had only gotten 14 girls Because after the first day, 40 girls had us as #1 and 400 girls came back (yes, there was a lot of doubling). the next day, 156 girls had us as #1 (i wrote all this down, i do not have that amazing of a memory. :D ) 300 came back By Pref Night, 90 girls had us as #1 and 136 came back so we were a little disappointed only getting 14 but they are a pretty amazing bunch so it was okay :) On Pref night, soem girls double recruited (2 of us, 4 of them). Me & my roomie double preffed 9 girls. 5 of them joined. we were pretty awesome :D |
Iota Lambda chapter just finished informal recruitment on Friday and got two new women who, combined with the girls we COB'ed earlier in the semester, puts us at 4 new members!!!! We've exceeded our national quota for the first time ever (I think)!

counting
counting counting. I was all over that as an active. I knew exactly how many I rushed and how many came back. I thought it would be really helpful if the girls knew specifically how they were doing, but like so many things I don't agree with, it was seen as negative or too competitive. How can you improve if you don't know what you're doing, right or wrong?
Yeah, the numbers as I heard them seemed like you had to have an insane pref night. But that's where ASKING THE GIRL TO PLEDGE is the thing. A lot of those girls probably got a lot stronger heart sell from the other chapters. And with that big a crowd, it's pretty hard to pull off. I probably would have chosen the 20 girls you wanted most and come hell or high water rushed them individually. Even if it meant tripling some others. Unfortunately, you can't do an exit interview to find out where you need work. But you can make up lost ground in informal! Let me know when more numbers come in. I'm sure you're not done for the semester. And congratulations to you Iota Lambda! It's a great feeling, isn't it? |

the fall class was initiated last night :) |
To my knowledge, Nu chapter at the University of Washington made quota at 32.
|
I've made more updates. Let me know if something is listed incorrectly.
|
Hey, Just fyi... I'm active in Theta Chi chapter... quota was 28 (i was bid day chair)... we hit quota, then some girls dropped, did informal...
we just had big little, so we have 24 new girls... who just received their bigs... one more girl dropped the day before big little preference... |
I am THRILLED to announce that as of pledging tomorrow night, the Delta Xi Chapter will be AT TOTAL (60) for the first time in about 7 years! They have 30 gorgeous new members, and initiation for 25 of those is in 2 more weeks!
Panhellenic on campus voted last week to extend total to 67 - which really makes no sense considering there has also been talks of adding a 6th chapter on campus. The total increase doesnt take effect until Spring semester though. I guess we'll see how it works out. Yesterday was also their 45th anniversary. Congratulations Delta Xi! |
Not to crash your board or anything, but...
I was just looking over your recruitment results and was curious about chapters in PA. I noticed that the number of new members at Penn State is 3. That seemed incredibly off to me, and in the NPC recruitment thread it says that the Beta Lambda chapter of AXiD has 21 new members. |

Actually, according to the chapter website it says those 3 members were COBs. If they've received more through formal, it's not posted and I havent heard elsewhere.... 21 would be awesome if it's right! |
^^ Understandable. I just thought 3 sounded weird as I know Penn State's quota is usually around 20, and from what I understand, none of the chapters there are struggling that much.
Just thought I'd help ya out :) |
Sigma Chapter got 6 adorable girls for the Winter Pledge Class (Tonight was the last night of pledging for this class)
|
Thanks for the update!
So remind me again where that brings you, numbers-wise?
Also, did the whole fall class initiate? |
yes! 1 dropped before pledging, 1 dropped after pledging, but then we got 4 through COB and they ALL initiated and are still here :)
Total is about 55. Not sure. |
The Zeta Tau chapter at UNCA reached total for the first time in 10 years. :)

I would just like to make a change to the above information. Ferris State College was changed to Ferris State University in 1987 :) Thanks.
