2008-2009 ESPN College Gameday--the fight to the BCS!!!

Welp fellas and ladies who love Herbstreit, Corso, Desmond and Fowler along with May, Davis and Coach Holtz--post your quips here!!!

Here are the AP Rankings as of August 28, 2008, good luck!!! :D

Are YOU ready?

BCS Bound--Orange Bowl Championship game January 8, 2009...

ferrus_manus 08-28-2008 05:06 PM

Georgia ranked #1.......That is reaching big time.

South Carolina, FSU and Cal should have been ranked in the top 25.

BTW go Seminoles!

Kevin 08-28-2008 05:11 PM

Oklahoma?

Missouri?

Why are these not on your list? One of the two is probably going -- to the Fiesta at the very least.

Now the Sooners......I can see that argument. But the Tigers???????

TexasWSP 08-28-2008 05:23 PM

Michigan?????

As much as it pains me to say this.....not having OU in that poll renders it meaningless.

I agree, I also think that if Texas is really gunning it, they might have a chance.

DreamfulSpirit 08-28-2008 08:48 PM

I'm sitting here cheering on my alma mater in its first game of the season against South Carolina...

GO WOLFPACK!!!!!

breathesgelatin 08-28-2008 09:17 PM

Missouri got jobbed out of a BCS game last year, they're an overwhelming favorite to win the North. They're as good a bet as any to go to the BCS.

I am jealous! I felt lucky to get tickets to this week's game! That USC/OSU game will be a great game to watch.

AznSAE 08-28-2008 10:17 PM

where is the "other" or "none of the above" option?

Benzgirl 08-30-2008 02:47 PM

Ugh...I don't want to agree with you, but we just may be! The NCSU game the other night was heartbreaking to watch.....Our wolfpack can do better!!!

our wolfpack can do MUCH better... our problem is putting Evans in thinking he'll actually lead us to victory  .. and poor Wilson, way to initiate him into college football! ugh I hate it, we couldn't get at least ONE touchdown?? Something is missing!! I am happy and excited for ECU (my boyfriend plays hockey there) but I am dreading the State vs ECU game. I do not think the outcome will be a repeat of last year-- and I'll have to hear all the hell from my ECU friends and boyfriend! ugh

The other game to worry about is against UNC. I felt sooooo bad that Wilson got hurt right in his first game! My b/f was student body treasurer at NCSU 2005-2006...love having connections through him!

EW NO! UNC's football team SUCKS! I think we'll do just fine with that game! We got our asses whooped by one Carolina, let's not reenact that!!
We definitely need to get it together before our next game though. This season is not getting a very good start!

nate2512 08-30-2008 06:37 PM

So I've been gone for awhile. But I think LSU proved today how much Michigan sucked last year.

No, I think Utah is proving how much Michigan sucks THIS year

AGDee 08-30-2008 07:24 PM

I don't think Rich Rodriguez is a good fit for the Michigan program. I'm not expecting anything from them this year.

NOT to defend Michigan, but to be fair to Appy State, they did lose their entire starting defensive secondary and their 3 best offensive linemen to graduation last year, so it was a younger and less experienced team today than Michigan faced.

Benzgirl 08-30-2008 08:44 PM

So, Nittany, when do you think Jo Pa is going to start pacing the sidelines with a walker? I just don't ever see him retiring, and at 81, he shows no signs of it.

*sigh* Gotta agree. Congrats to ECU. I knew someone would beat a top-ranked team this weekend. Congrats to Bowling Green defeating Pittsburgh (#25 today).

LOL, I know, the man is a machine! I think they may have to drag his cold lifeless body off the sideline someday, I don't know what he'd do with himself if he retired.

Yeah, I don't know about that, I'm not sure how the "Joe Pa" personality would translate on TV fulltime... ;)

Dude, Mizzou looks fricken awesome (though Illinois is making a fight of it). Unless something major happens, they will definitely win the North and maybe even Big XII overall.

I'm just happy my Cyclones won their opener, even if it was over SDSU. If we win 3 or so more games, I'll be a happy girl, especially if one of those is against Iowa.

So did he know Pirate Captain??? :p

Clemson = majorly overrated.

amycat412 08-31-2008 01:46 AM

USC 52 - UVA 7
What a fantastic way to start the football season

Elephant Walk 08-31-2008 03:14 AM

Gah, Arkansas looked poor.

Although, 4 passing touchdowns? It's a whole new world.

Rodriguez is taking a lot of heat for his use of, "the Apostles" for his team's new leaders. He is trying to replicate everything he did at WVU. I think in a systems such as UofM, a coach needs to rely heavily on tradition before creating his own traditions. Tressel did a good job of first building on existing traditions at OSU; the Alums and Fans immediately loved him for this.

McNeese gave UNC a run for their money.

nittanyalum 09-01-2008 11:59 PM

Wow, that Tennessee/UCLA game was AMAZING.

jojapeach 09-02-2008 01:41 PM

^^^ And I'm so sad I had to go to sleep on it. :( That's all the guys in my office were talking about this morning.

PhiGam 09-06-2008 10:45 AM

I voted USC as the best team. Here are my bets for today:
Michigan -14.5 Miami
West Virginia -7.5 East Carolina
Southern Miss +18 Auburn
Tulane +30 Alabama
Wake -7.5 Ole Miss
4 game parlay: (Paying +245)
West Va moneyline
Cal moneyline
Pitt moneyline
Notre Dame -22 San Diego State

You didn't place a bet on the Florida/Miami game?

Benzgirl 09-06-2008 09:47 PM

Ok, I'm going to say it. Ohio State sucked today.
