In case anyone still needs one...I've been seeing white dresses at Target, Ross and Marshalls. :)

_Lisa_ 06-10-2008 08:54 AM

Thanks for the heads up! I might be buying a new one if I can afford it. :) As well as new white shoes-just for the heck of it! :)

Anyone decide on who they're going to dress up as for the red carpet? I don't think I will dress up, I can't even think of who I'd dress up like, nor do I have that much money to buy some new, fancy, outfit.

You would think this would be easy, but I think this is the hardest Confirmed Coventionite outfit to come up with that I've attended! I agree- unless you look exactly like someone, it is going to be difficult! We have 6 alumnae coming from our area- we are currently trying to think of some recognizable groups we could dress as. The Spice Girls is our current favorite, but there are only 5 of them! All else fails, I guess I'll just wear an old formal dress and just be myself on the red carpet! :)

Only if I get to be Posh!

BetteDavisEyes 06-15-2008 01:25 PM

I need to find a new dress. Mine is ugly beyond belief and is slowly fading from white so some god-awful off-white in some areas. Will be shopping today.
If you go to the For Sisters Only site, there is a link that shows you what clothing is appropriate (with picture samples) and what a white dress should look like (again, pictures included). It's very helpful.

I still have absolutely no idea what to dress up as for the Confirmed Conventionite dinner. Mike said I should go as Lucille Ball since I'm a HUGE I Love Lucy fan but I'd have to fork over money for a 50's dress and I'm already spending lots of money elsewhere.

SoCalGirl 06-15-2008 04:58 PM

I think if you can't find a celebrity outfit you should just dress GLAM. :)

_Lisa_ 06-15-2008 06:23 PM

I don't really have glam either, I just donated all the formal dresses I have to a charity called "Prom for a Princess". Bah, I'm getting down the whole celebrity outfit thing since I really don't have anything to wear & don't have money to buy anything.

I didn't find the link for the white dresses, but I checked w/ LO (who is slated for President!!!!) & she said the white skirt/blouse is OK. :)

BetteDavisEyes 06-15-2008 08:47 PM

I'm going to dress glam, I guess. I have lots of pretty dresses I have yet to wear that I bought on sale last year. I'll pick one of them & go all out with lots of blingy stuff and maybe I'll toss in a feather boa. LOL! ;)

I just bought this dress to replace my ugly old white one. What do you guys think? I'm a bit worried about the slit in the front. The dress is below my knee so it's not tasteless in the least but what do you guys think? Will it be o.k. or not? I bought it in white and should arrive later this week.

yay im totally going and I am so excited!
i really can not wait to meet sigma's from all over!

_Lisa_ 06-16-2008 02:51 PM

I think the dress is super appropriate Bebe! I'd only be worried about being cold without sleeves, the slit should be fine since its not wide open!

OneHeartOneWay 06-16-2008 05:07 PM

I think the dress looks great! In fact, it is so good you could probably actually wear it for other things! (Pretty impressive for a white dress!)

I'm looking for a white cardigan right now. I hope to find one that will cover my arms & shoulders.
Thanks for the input! :)

In my experience, being too cold during ritual is a non-issue even with AC because of the number of bodies all in the same room. I always had the opposite problem. To each her own.

I keep having nightmares I am going to get stuck in Dallas-Forth Worth (where my layover is). Not a place I would like to spend any longer than I have to.

BetteDavisEyes 06-17-2008 11:40 PM

PM's sent regarding getting together at Convention. Read it ladies & let me know if you're interested. :)

I have similar nightmares! My layover is in Dallas-Forth Worth too! Are you on American Airlines by any chance? Maybe we'll be on the same flight to Palm Springs!? :)

I replied to your PM Bebe! :)

OneHeartOneWay 06-18-2008 08:37 AM

I also am dreading the DFW airport! I tried so hard to work my flight around that airport, but just couldn't get it to happen! Hopefully there won't be so many SK's delayed there that they have to move opening ceremonies to the airport! :)

SigKapCoug 06-18-2008 04:00 PM

I'm sooo excited! Well, not for the flight! I will have to get up at like, 5:30 and won't land in Palm Springs until after 2!

BetteDavisEyes 06-20-2008 07:50 PM

My white dress came yesterday and it's very pretty but I didn't realize that it would be so long. In the picture, it came to the knees of the model but on my short self, it's tea-length. LOL! Oh well.

I bought a bathing suit as well today since it was a short day. It's a black & white one piece and it's very flattering and pretty. I refuse to wear 2-piece bathing suits b/c I look like a sea cow. Ick! ;):p

I'm mentally packing and debating what clothes to bring and what dresses. I'll take pictures of them later and post them.

BetteDavisEyes 06-24-2008 11:16 PM

Eek! It's almost here!

So why am I posting instead of packing?

Bebe! Get off your butt and PACK! :D

Well SigKapSweetie, you just got your wish. We're going to Orlando in 2010!

I'm not crazy about the idea of going to Florida in June, but with as much fun as I had with 700 sisters, I don't care where Convention is, I'm going!

AHHHHH!!!!! I WILL BE THERE!!!!!

That seriously made my whole week! I've never gotten to go to Convention, but with it so close, I'll move heaven and earth to get the time off!

_Lisa_ 07-09-2008 04:58 PM

My parents live so close to Orlando, maybe I'll make a whole vacation out of it & spend time with them while I'm in FL! :) I definitely plan on being there no matter what!

Aquastar 07-09-2008 09:11 PM

glad you ladies had fun

BetteDavisEyes 07-12-2008 04:32 PM

Convention was a blast! I took lots of pictures and made many great memories.

I can't wait for the next one. I have vowed to work at least one week each time I'm off-track to save up money for the next Convention in Orlando. Mike just shakes his head at me when I bring it up. He shouldn't complain b/c if he plays his cards right, he can join me when it's over & we'll vacation right after Convention is done. :p

BetteDavisEyes 08-17-2008 11:18 PM

I posted the Convention pics I took on my LJ on my SK filter so feel free to look. ;)
