hey....what about the air force chick and the guy whose wife had the baby?

Velocity_14 01-24-2008 04:25 PM

^^^^I can't remember the air force chick but I do remember the guy who just had the baby. If he wasn't doing the Beyonce vibrato so much he would have been alright...I was kind of hoping he would do well because he seemed really nice...

LOL...what about the guy who came on like almost right after "tight-n-bright" who was arguing with Simon about how he could sing and told them that the show was rigged and what not...I was laughing so hard watching him sing...

AGDee 01-25-2008 07:51 AM

I thought the air force woman was far better than the girl who had the abstinence speech but they said she was too Cabaret and not a pop singer. I really liked her.

LeslieAGD 01-25-2008 08:21 AM

Totally agree with you, Dee!

BabyPiNK_FL 01-25-2008 04:57 PM

Me three. I would have rathered her over ms. abstinence any day. That wasn't a fair deal.

Mike sings that song to annoy me. LOL! :p

Can I just say that ....

.... Paula seemed to be high tonight or otherwise incapacitated! She was nodding and gazing off and hiccupping and eyes out of focus ... out of control! ....never seen anything like it ----trippy:eek:

Benzgirl 01-29-2008 11:27 PM

I'm just not feelin' it this year, dawg!

AGDee 01-29-2008 11:29 PM

Why doesn't somebody bump this earlier in the day on Tuesdays so I remember to watch???

Sorry, but the brain is getting fuzzy in my old age!

Is it on Wednesday too? It was last week.

ETA: AGDee, it is on tomorrow. Set your alarm. But, Nittanyalum is right. I'm getting tired of the auditions

nittanyalum 01-29-2008 11:35 PM

You aren't missing much, I'm bored of the auditions by now. I wish they would just start with Hollywood week, they can flash back to some auditions if they really, really feel the need. But by now, it's all been done and we all know they're just letting the goofy people through trying to make "good tv". But the joke's old.

nittanyalum 02-12-2008 10:58 PM

I feel for little Josiah and I think he has a great story, I just wish I liked his voice more. I actually don't think he's very good at all.

I LOVE the Australian Michael guy from Buckhead. He is amazing!!!

Oh, and the young 16 year old dark-haired guy, he's amazing too.

LeslieAGD 02-12-2008 11:04 PM

I can't believe they put that Josiah kid through...he broke the rules by not singing with the band and then he had an absolutely SH*TTY performance. He's going to be the Sanjaya of this season.

On a brighter note, I love Australian Michael, the Irish Girl, the Rocker Nurse, and the 16-year old dark haired kid. And, there was another guy (maybe hispanic?) that they showed near the beginning of the show that was also great.

nittanyalum 02-12-2008 11:07 PM

Yes, I like the rocker nurse too! And the girl from Atlanta who had just lost her Dad. Oh! And the girl that had lost her voice but still had a great final audition. I like a lot of them, I guess, it will be interesting to see who they put in the top 24!!

DolphinChicaDDD 02-13-2008 12:28 AM

I didn't get to see my friend from high school tonight, maybe he was in earlier. I really just want to see who is in the top.

She's a DG at Florida, and I was looking forward to actually watching and voting for someone this time around.

If you watch the video at about 1:30 she does the DG anchor in her little dance. Paula and Randy suck.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=IroxQKdj2R4

Wait, that hairflip thing is a DG dance?

I love how at 3:56 Simon says she's possibly the most annoying person he'd ever met in his life. I have to agree she was grating on the nerves. And singing-wise, I thought it was a fair cut tonight.

kappa_delta 02-13-2008 01:31 AM

i actually know buck from when i went to georgia southern

LeslieAGD 02-13-2008 09:08 AM

I was bummed they cut Joey. He was ill, but I still think he sang well enough to make it through.
(He was the very first audition on the first day that sang "Sunday Morning" and last night he sang before the black girl who was losing her voice).

I missed it last night, but when AI was starting this season one local radio station was saying there were a few "planted" contestants who actually already had recording deals, but never made it. Apparently the Irish girl had even released a couple songs in the US, but to no avail of furthering her career.

One was an Irish girl with a guitar and the other was a hispanic musician too. If I remember correctly.

I'd hate for this to be true, but after the last couple seasons and what's happened, they may be trying to swing things. :(

Her personality came off as grating. Not sure if she's like that in real life but I could tell that the producers edited all her footage to make her unlikeable. Her voice is good but there were others who I was definitely more blown away by. The Irish girl, the 16 year old guy and the Australian guy (from the ATL!!!!!!!) were amazing.

I don't doubt AI planting people. The show has produced some very unsuccessful contestants over the past few years. Taylor Hicks never did much of anything, Katherine McPhee was dropped by the label as well as Ruben.

LeslieAGD 02-13-2008 10:15 PM

I am really happy with the people they put through to the top 24 (and also those they didn't).
I am glad David Hernandez made it even though it was not unanimous. :)

BetteDavisEyes 02-14-2008 10:50 PM

The Irish girl is now being criticized because back in 2001, she was signed by a major record label, put out a CD but it flopped miserably.

The criticism is that the show is supposed to be for undiscovered talent and not people that have had a shot or been signed before.

I thought after Season 4 it was actually a rule, that you could not be on the show if you had signed with a label before?

I missed the show on Wednesday, but thanks to the youtube gods, I have been saved and someone posted the whole show in 4 parts, I just got to watch the whole thing (with no commercials! score!).

I don't have any gripes about the female side, they all seem very talented and no one annoys me (so far ;)), although I don't remember hearing 2 or 3 of the final 12 ever sing, so we'll see. I like the little itty bitty girl with the huge voice, I think she'll do well.

On the guys' side, I first of all am MEGA impressed that they didn't put little Josiah and his sad story through. I liked him on his first audition show but was really annoyed by him at the end of Hollywood week. Like someone else said, he could have been this season's "Sanjaya", keep getting the sympathy vote through and just annoy, annoy, annoy for weeks. So, yay, no Josiah.

I do think that Danny kid is going to get old quickly, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Michael Johns, the Australian, and I think that little 16-year-old will do well. And the long-haired rocker dude had a much prettier voice than I expected to hear come out of him, he might do well. Oh, and I'm glad they let David Hernandez through too, I thought he had a great audition.

Every season I tell myself I'm going to stop watching this show, but then every season, I get sucked in.... and here I am, I can't wait for next week! :)

Benzgirl 02-16-2008 12:48 AM

I've only picked up bits and pieces of this season, but the one who has stood out most to me is the Janice Joplin sound-alike. I think they said she was a nurse

According to votefortheworst.com, the Irish girl isn't the only one who's not an undiscovered talent. http://votefortheworst.com/americanidol7contestants Very interesting. It seems that the producers are doing what they can to get people to watch this season after some lackluster past seasons.

Awwww, I'm sad to see Michael Johns on the list. (I still like him, though :o)

Wow, there are a lot of people on that list!

Personally, I don't have an issue with any of the people who appeared on other TV shows (like Jason Yeager - Making The Band, Jason Castro - Cheyenne, Syesha Mercado - The One) or those who have opened up for musical acts I have never heard of (Brooke White for Phil Vassar...who?), but it sucks that Idol is breaking their own rules and allowing people who have record deals or ties to other artists into the competition. As much as I like Carly and Michael's voices, it does lower my opinion of them.

I'm surprised the website didn't make a bigger deal about Robbie Carrico (of the pop group Boyz and Girlz United). Sure, they weren't that popular but they were probably one-rung down from O-Town or S Club 7.

WhiteDaisy128 02-19-2008 09:28 PM

I dug David Cook just now. I loved his song and execution of the song...he gotta fix the hair and scruff though.

pbear19 02-19-2008 09:32 PM

^^Agreed! I was one more boring song away from changing the channel until he came on.

nittanyalum 02-19-2008 10:32 PM

How did that Leif Garrett-looking kid even get past the auditions???????

WhiteDaisy128 02-19-2008 10:37 PM

Yeah, I feel sorry for him though...we haven't even seen him until now...there is no way he'll get voted through.

LeslieAGD 02-20-2008 08:55 AM

Wow, most of those performances last night where BORING.

I liked all three Davids (Hernandez, Cook, and Archuleta). I also liked Danny's and Robbie's performances.

Going Home? Luke and Jason (or, alternately, Garrett). They were sub-par and haven't had any screentime.

RBL 02-20-2008 10:50 AM

Please explain what was so great about the guy with dreads... I was in a coma while he performed

LOL...I thought he sucked, too.

RBL 02-20-2008 02:32 PM

I hope the girls can bring it tonight cause the boys were a snoozefest. The first guy(?) had a good voice but no stage presence, Chikeze was prety good vocally but he looks 40 and was talking back(hopefulyl someone gets to him and tell him to tone it down before its too late), I cant even remember who was next. That 17 year old David was good but I wasnt as floored as the judges... everybody else was boring and the last guy was decent but again I wasnt wowed.

I think his style was kind of a minimalist jack johnson. I certainly didn't like him as much as I liked little David Archulette (what a cutiepie) but I'd like to see him perform some other stuff before seeing him leave.

darling1 02-20-2008 06:54 PM

last night was soooo boring. i do hope the girls sound much better.
