Wow! you guys do have a wild thread going here! I just spent time catching up and even though it statred about 50 messages ago, I had to share my "Say Goodbye" Story, too.

One summer I had a boyfriend that joined the navy and we were going to try to stay together...but I was working with this guy that I just salivated over! I would drive to work every morning listening to that song on a tape over and over and over! I wanted to just go up and say the words to him. Well, I couldn't resist! I ended up breaking it off with the boyfriend and getting together with this guy. It's been over 4 years now! I told him about how I always thought of him with that song and even though our story diverged from the original, we still call it our song (in private).

Now I feel like a stick in the mud for not sharing my 'say goodbye' story. So I will give the abridged version so as to not have to deal with the whole version.

In a nutshell, my 'say good-bye' guy, was and ex-boyfriend. We were just friends at this point and had no one else, so....yah.
one of those things i kinda wish i could go back and change. Talk about 'seemed like a good idea at the time!'.
(people who don't know what say goodbye is about will most likely have figured it out now by our posts huh? lol).

I'm happy to say I also have a "Crush" guy. So in light of the 'say goodbye' story, i'll share this one too.

Crush was my favorite song off of the last disk. And when boyfriend and i started seeing eachother, he asked me who my favorite musician is and what my favorite song was. So naturally, I said DMB, and Crush (which was just begining to take on new meaning for me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ). He downloaded the song and listened to it over and over. He said it gave him insight into the kind of person I was. And he said he loved the song. I'd like to think that that song helped influence the fact that we've now been together for a year and a half http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif .

I have always loved DMB since Ants Marching. but, I used to get them confused with Blues Traveler at first. I guess they just got popular at the same time. But, I remember when Crash first came out, i did not like Say Goodbye. I was like, "How horrible! This song is all about cheating!" I have seen him in concert twice. Once at my school which was great cuz it was a small setting. And once at a huge place where we were lucky they had video screens to see them on stage!

My boyfriend has learned a lot of his songs because he plays guitar. I love it when he plays them! He says he thinks Dave must be really talented to play the song and sing at the same time because sometimes the two are really out of sync (i.e. it's like rubbing your belly and patting your head). but, dave pulls it off well. as for my boyfriend...well, he does the playing, I do the singing!

It's not really ABOUT cheating. It's just about, well, to be blunt, sleeping with a friend, platonically, and then going back to just being buddies the next day.

OH! And a radio station here in L.A. had an event this morning --Breakfast with Dave--just Dave. his guitar, scrambled eggs and bagels and 100 fans--but try as I might I did not win tix. So. Its always at a super secret location and I turn on the radio this morning and find that HE is TWO BLOCKS from me. I can stand on my balcony and see the bldg he was in. Talk about TORTURE!!

I got into dave...hmmm...trying to remember here....some years ago...i had broken up with my first love http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif and i was depressing hardcore, so one of my friends who was really big into dmb, which i had heard of, but didn't listen to religiously, gives me a copy of two step...i listened to it and i was like..this is my song, cheered me up..and i kept it on repeat for like a week, then i just started buying albums, bootlegs, and imports, anything i could get my hands on, and i love seeing him in concert...this thearter up here..in wiscowsin, alpine valley, is the SHIT!!! We go to get sloshed and then we just get to hear dmb jam for hours! it's the greatest!!!

Well, maybe it's not ABOUT cheating, but they are cheating on their significant others...that's the part I fixated on the time because I was in a steady relationship and I wouldn't have liked ot be the one cheated on...even if they went back to being platonic!

Someone at work burned the breakfast with Dave Matthews thing on cd for me. It's AMAZING. He sings five (i think) of the songs from his new album, acoustic. I was always so curious to hear how they would sound acoustic and they are so much better. Maybe I just think that cause I like grass roots Dave more than electric songs cut to cookie cutter 4 minutes Dave. But the songs are awsome and sound GREAT acoustic.

Hey all Daveheads! Gphi2K just told me the unreleased Lillywhite recordings are available through a link at nancies.org

They are they are!!! Someone at work downloaded them and he's going to burn them for me. He says they're studio quality. Which means....they are indeed the long lost (well, not so long) studio cuts. WOOHOO!!!

OK--I just had to let everybody know!!! Everybody knows how much I love Dave. Well he's coming to New Orleans to perform at Jazz Fest. I've had my heart set on seeing him...I just haven't gotten my ticket yet. Well I just talked to my friend Erin(a fellow Dave lover) and she told me that she bought me a ticket so that we could go down to NOLA and see him together!!!!! I almost cried I was so excited!!! OK--I'm gonna stop rambling now!!!!!!! I'm in such a good mood!!!! One month and I'll be seeing DAVE!!!!!!!

They're AMAZING. Way more Dave than 'everyday'. GET THEM!!! Go to nancies.org and it will tell you there where you can download them. I think the files have to converted to mp3s tho, and I have no idea how the guy from work did it for me. But wow. WOW http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif . There are a few songs on the disk I don't love, but mostly, they are incredible. They are a tad depressing tho. You can sense that he was in a funk. When you listen to them one after the other, if you're in an okay mood, you'll be sad, and if you're sad at all before you listen to it, you'll be crying after listening to it. But i wouldn't trade having these 12 songs for the world!

Maybe, if you guys can't get them, we could hook it up so that I burn them for you...?

I had to bump this thread back up to the top because the long awaited tour is about to start!

So, here's my question. Who is going to what show when and where? And, is there any fun little story behind how you scored your tickets??

My situation is really annoying. The first leg of the tour was announced and there was no Toronto date posted. There was a show in buffalo however, which is only 2 hours from here. So, a person who shall remain nameless (AMYCAT) said she had it on good authority that a toronto date would most likely be added, and that second leg of the tour would be announced just before the first leg went on sale. Well the on-sale date came and no second leg had been announced. So, I ended up getting tix for the buffalo show. My two tickets came to NINETY bux Canadian, each!!!. add to that the fact that we are on the opposite side of the huge football arena from where dave will be, and you'll understand my frustration http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif .

2 days later, after i bought the tix, A toronto date was added. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif . i was gonna go to that show too(ideally get decent seats given how cruddy my buffalo tix are) but of course, out of EVERY day on the calendar, the show is the day after my brother's wedding, when all my family will still be here. so i can't go http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif .

So, I'm going to the show, in buffalo, at ralph wilson stadium on wednesday, june 20th. I just better remember to bring my binoculars!

I was just thinking about you. Hadn't seen you on here to much so I was wondering how you were doing.

I'm going to Jazz Fest to see our husband. I got my ticket las weekend. I was doing to go thur ticketmaster,but ticketmaster doesn't deliver to p.o. boxes. I didn't want to take the chance of having the ticket delivered to my house (mail mysteriously disappears there)
So I went to my favorite record store to see if they were an Ticketmaster outlet. Sadly they are not,but the nice clerk directed me to the place where he always gets his tickets. So I went there and I have my ticket.

I want to go to the May 11th show in Houston,but that's kind of streching it(it's the week of finals). So I'm going to skip that show and get tickets for the July 15 show in Dallas(it's two days after my birthday)

He got a call from the Warehouse and he was one of 5 Las Vegas members chosen out of a hat to attend an ACOUSTIC SHOW WITH DAVE ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE THE CONCERT AT THIS LITTLE JAZZ CLUB IN VEGAS. DAVE, HIS GUITAR, ME AND MY BROTHER AND 48 OTHER PEOPLE.
