And although I wish they had fought with the Volturi, there would have been noway the Cullen & friends could have won. I know I wouldn't have wanted dead Cullens.

It was just a little too "neat" in the end. I loved Jacob in these books, but I found it a little disturbing for him to imprint on Bella's daughter. And...I HATE the name Renesme....it is soooo ugly! Breaking Dawn just seemed like an afterthought...like they dragged the story out a little too long and didn't have enough to flesh out an entire 4th book.

Seeing this thread, as well as the one in my sisters' book group, peaked my curiosity. I bought Twilight yesterday.

Glad to be of service. :)

I don't know, I'm still on the fence. I hate being on the fence.

My younger cousin was hearing me & her sister talk soo much about the books that she finally gave into her curiosity and read Twilight.

She finished it in a day, and loved it!

Her sister bought Breaking Dawn on the day it came out and still hasn't finished it. According to her, she wants to "have a life" and not read a book all day. But her idea of "having a life" is watching TV, and listening to her Ipod.

Movie News Flash!

So, many of you have heard that the release of the sixth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has been moved from this Thanksgiving to next summer. First and foremost, please know that this schedule change has absolutely nothing to do with Twilight, me, or Summit Films (so enough with the imdb death wishes, okay?). This is Warner Bros. decision, and it was not motivated by anything Twilight-related.

Now for the good news! Though we're all sad to have to wait for Harry Potter, this open spot at the theater creates a cool opportunity. The good people at Summit were thrilled to let me know that now Twilight fans are going to get their movie three weeks earlier than scheduled. That's right—Twilight will be released in theaters November 21st! Let the merry-making commence!

I think that was a pretty stupid thing for WB to do...but yay for Twilight getting their spot!

LttleMsPrEp 08-17-2008 12:42 PM

WB is pretty dumb for doing that but I'm stoked to see Twilight 3 weeks earlier than planned!!!

Only thing is (maybe it's just me) but I'm not too happy with the way that they casted the characters.. I think that they could've found a hotter guy to play Edward

I think we've already discussed that in this thread....but don't tell that to any of the die-hard teeny-boppers...they'll "bite your head off". They think the guy playing Edward is "to die for"...(puns intended)
lol

LttleMsPrEp 08-17-2008 01:14 PM

lol.. i def. tried talking to my best friends sister about it (she's 12) she looked at me as if I were an alien with 2 heads or something lol

Bad, bad, bad. I finished it in less than 3 days! These books are easy procrastination material. I was so upset, because I didn't realize how close I was to the end until my husband came home. If I had, I would have asked him to make a trip to the book store last night. I will be there first thing this morning, for sure!

RaggedyAnn 08-21-2008 08:33 AM

Yesterday I read to page 290 in New Moon. I am getting nothing done! These books are great. Thank you for the suggestion-I think. :) Let's see if I can get some work done around the house today.

WinniBug 08-21-2008 11:00 AM

LOL
I read the first three books in one weekend, bought Breaking Dawn at 10 am on Saturday morning and had it finished by Sunday evening. I also threw a high school reunion and 2 1-hour drives in there. :-)

AGDee 08-21-2008 12:47 PM

Something about those books just sucks you in.. I can't even figure out why, really. The plot is kind of predictable, the characters are kind of likeable, but it's not like any one thing about them stands out. They just end up being very hard to put down!

LOL!

I'm in the middle of the third book. I went to another book store yesterday to find it. They only had 2 copies themselves. Apparently Eclipse is very popular.

It is really weird. They really aren't particularly well-written, but you just have to know what happens next ... my teenage sister-in-law got me to read them, and I was hooked. Still not happy with Breaking Dawn, though. I mean - everyone just got what they wanted, and everything was all tied up so neat and tidy? Boo that :( But I did get to work the release party at the bookstore, and that was fun! I'm a nerd, and midnight release parties are just cool.

RaggedyAnn 08-25-2008 08:12 AM

Okay, I'm finished and now have read this whole thread. Wow, just wow. I loved the series. My husband started reading Twilight last night. I think his curiosity got the best of him. He wanted to see why none of the house work got done last week-LOL! I can see people's point about the death and intimate scenes, but we have to remember the intended audience of the books. She could have definitely made a PG and R rated version of them. Maybe if she gets writer's block some day she can expand the books for her adult readers.

I also think it's great when they can have midnight parties. Any book that gets kids up in the middle of the night wanting to buy it is worth the time for me. If I had kids and they wanted to do that, I'd make sure they were dressed and would make a real special night out of it.

I'm looking at the picture of the people for the Cullen cast and that is so not how I expected them to look-except Alice. Kristen Swan is how I pictured Rosalie with blond hair, but I can see her as Bella-but the clothes seem off in the trailer. I never pictured her with an armwrist whatever it is. I can't wait to see the movie though!

AGDee 08-25-2008 11:35 AM

The next project of Stephenie Meyer is to re-write Twilight from Edward's point of view. It's called Midnight Sun and there's a chapter of it on her web site. My daughter sent me a link to the "supposed" first 12 chapters of this book that were leaked accidentally, but I don't know that I believe that it's really all written by SM.

nittanyalum 08-25-2008 11:41 AM

This thread got me curious so I found the website for the movie coming out. It looks like a twist on a next-generation "Lost Boys". ;) :)

Sounds like a Gregory Maguire book. Cool.

phimu88 08-25-2008 03:41 PM

My daughter is obsessed with this series! Almost as bad as Harry Potter!! So one day I am searching the house for a book I hadn't read yet and I picked up Twilight. I read all 3 books within 5 days! lol sad. I may go see the movie, but he movies just usually disappoint me if I have already read the book though.

I know!! I told my dauhter that when she made me watch the trailer... I really expected Edward to be much better looking ... and I thought Bella should have been plainer.

I also thought of her as a little fuller-not fat-but maybe a size 8? Actually, I pictured her a lot like what the author looks like in one of the photos I saw of her-not the one on the cover. Edward is growing on me. I think he might just be a little limiting with his age. I'm assuming if this goes well, they'll want to do another film. I went to the official site that had 4 clips.

Ok, I did this a while back in one of my MySpace groups, but here's kinda what I expected the cast to look like....

Alice:

Rosalie:

epchick 08-25-2008 05:17 PM

Lauren & Jessica???? As in the girls that went to school with Bella right?

I like some of your pics. I think your Rosalie is more accurate to Meyer's description of her.

I think your choice for Jasper, would be better as Edward, but that's just my opinion.

As much as I don't like Cedric Diggory (sorry, i dont know his real name) as Edward, he is starting to grow on me the more I see the previews. We'll see what happens when I watch the movie.

WinniBug 08-25-2008 07:34 PM

yeah
the girls from Bella's school

I'm almost positive that somewhere in the books it says she weighs 115lbs. I pictured a size 2-4.

KillarneyRose 08-31-2008 08:32 PM

Winnibug, I'm not sure if you realize it or not, but the actor you picked for Edward is named Henry Cavill and he actually was Stephenie Meyer's choice. He's soooooooooooo hot (he plays the Duke of Suffolk in HBO's "The Tudors") but I think in the end the people in charge of casting thought he was too old. I think he's 24 or 25.

From what I understand, Nikki Reed and "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke co-wrote the movie "Thirteen" that Reed starred in. She's a pretty girl, but I definitely expected someone blonder. I think that no matter who got the role, though, many people would have been disappointed. Really, who could actually be as beautiful as Rosalie is supposed to be?

I agree with all of you who don't get why everyone seemed so drawn to Renesmee (ugh; horrible name). Instead of this incredibly beautiful child, all I could picture was Kristen Dunst's creepy little vampire child in "Interview with the Vampire".

Am I the only one who really didn't like Bella's character very much? I never understood exactly what Edward saw in her except for the fact that he liked the way she smelled. (ha, I sound like a bitchy high school girl gossiping!). I thought she was often very ungracious at times, like when the Cullens had a birthday get-together for her and when Alice put together the roomsized walk-in closet in her and Edward's cottage and she was peeved. And don't get me started about when Edward proposed to her.

I liked reading the backstories on the Cullens; I thought Jasper's story was interesting and it wasn't until that point that I stopped thinking of him as a peripheral character at best. Rosalie's store was pretty lame, though. I think SM could have done better with that one.

Still, I LOVED the whole book series and I can't wait to see the movie!

Yes this is what popped in my mind when I pictured Renesmee!

I really could have cared less if they picked someone who was 24 for Edward, especially when he's that scrumptious. I mean the guy who is cast as Edward is 22 anyways, and BLAH!

I still can not see Rosalie in Nikki. No one can be as beautiful as Rosalie, but they could try to get close. Nikki is nowhere near close.

I liked Bella, but the proposal really bothered me. As someone who married her dream man, this just didn't make sense. I know the whole book is make believe, but this was the part of the story that was unbelievable for me.

RaggedyAndy made it to page 200 of Twilight and put the book down. He "couldn't take the "whiny teenage girl anymore."

KillarneyRose 09-14-2008 08:52 PM

Did you all know that Stephenie Meyer has started to write a book she's calling "Midnight Sun"? It is supposedly "Twilight", but from Edward's point of view. Yes, I downloaded it. Yes, I feel guilty. No, I just could not help myself....

http://sileny.wordpress.com/2008/08/...chapters-1-12/

Hopefully it'll hold me over until the movie opens :)

AGDee 09-14-2008 09:10 PM

You don't have to feel guilty about downloading it now. The day after it was leaked, she posted it on stepheniemeyer.com herself. She said she didn't know if she'd be able to finish writing it because she was so upset about it leaking out. She also said it is a very rough draft and to please excuse the errors, etc.

I can also tell you that some of the pages are out of order so you will be confused at times. Errr, guess that gives it away, I read it too. I really enjoyed reading from Edward's perspective. I truly hope she finishes it.. I will still buy it.

ΑΓΔSquirrel10 09-14-2008 10:48 PM

I just finished reading it today and I LOVED IT!!!! In my opinion, it could be her best selling book out of the series. To me, it just seems so poetic. I never realized before reading it how much in love Edward was with Bella from the very beginning! This may be immature on my part, but I will cry if she never finishes it. I don't think she will be able to leave it alone and will eventually finish it, but that's just me hoping for the best :)

KillarneyRose 09-18-2008 08:57 PM

I really loved it also! Seeing Bella through Edward's eyes make her a little more likeable to. I was happy he went back to get revenge on the man who was planning to rape Bella, but I would have been happier if the revenge included eviscerating the man. But that's just me :)

AOII_LB93 09-19-2008 09:55 PM

Have any of you read the statement about the illegal release on her website? It's kind of lame and while I understand where she is coming from it just seems so "poor me". EVERYONE I know who read it would still buy it...it doesn't diminish any of the books in the least and actually makes me like her as a writer again after the travesty of Breaking Dawn.

*sigh* Hopefully she realizes that she's being a bit ridiculous.

O_Phi_A_Bekah 10-07-2008 01:12 PM

I hope she finishes it too. I started to read it but have yet to finish it. I read the other 4 in 5 days, so my eyes need a break.

I hope the movie stays true to the book too.

KillarneyRose 10-30-2008 03:01 PM

My 13 year old came home from the mall this weekend toting the "Twilight Movie Companion". Of course, I HAD to take a look inside since I am pretty excited to see the movie.

After checking out several pictures of Rob Pattinson (Edward), I have to say that I was wrong thinking he's not good looking enough to play Edward. He is, in fact, quite a li'l hottie (A hottie young enough to be my son, but a hottie nonetheless)

Anyone else excited to see the movie? Not long now!

ΑΓΔSquirrel10 10-31-2008 01:51 AM

I'm super excited!!! I've been looking at pictures, watching every video I can find, and bought the movie companion the other day :) I'm going to the midnight showing, and I can't wait! 3 MORE WEEKS!!!!
