That would be awesome! One of the girls in our chapter is from Chicago so her dad might let us stay with him. Although the hotel might be lots more fun, that would be cheaper. We will see as it gets closer!
|
I know one of my sisters that lives in Michigan will be going, as well as a few alumni. I wish I could be there :(
|
Hopefully everyone is having a good beginning of the new semester! Our classes start tomorrow!
|
I've been student teaching for two weeks now. I can't believe it's finally here. And, I can't believe I feel so at home in front of a class.
In other sadder news, how do you handle it when a very good friend resigns her SAI membership? I understand why she did it and I support her decision, but it still hurts a little. |
We have a problem with people dropping or just going inactive "for a semester" and it usually turns in the resigning. It sucks! I wish there was a way to change people's mind, but it's just sad!
Congrats on loving the student teaching! That is awesome! |
Yay for loving student teaching!
We have our first interest meeting this week, we're looking at 5 or 6 potential MITs, which is AWESOME for my chapter. |
Our chapter birthday is the 22nd! Theta Mu has been active for 12 years! It's always exciting celebrating chapter birthday or Founders Day. Birthday cermeony is next week during Formal Meeting. :-)
Hope everyone has a wonderful week! Love and Roses |
We pinned a class of 8 last Sunday.
Woot! Woot! |
We have decided not to have a class this semester. We have been lacking in sisterhood and coheisiveness so we are going to work on that this semester!
We had slating for officers tonight and nominations and I am running unopposed for President! Yay! I wish I were actually against someone, but I am glad that I am able to be president next year! :) |
Pinning a class of three sometime this week, as long as all three accept the bids (which I'm fairly certain they will). I'm going to be a big! I'm so excited :D
|
So one interest didn't return her bid :( BUT I'M STILL A BIG! I'm sooooo happy. We're hoping to pin on Friday, and I can't wait! It's a good thing I only see my future little once this week (at the same time as our VPM and her future little :D hahaha), otherwise it would be HARD to keep the secret!
|
We had elections! Yay! President-Elect! I am excited for next year! If anyone has been president and has any advice or just advice in general, Iwould appreciate it so much!
|
Congrats J2!!!!!!! The best advice I give to every incoming exec board:
This is a thankless job. No one is ever going to thank you for the good things you do. You will only be nit picked over the mistakes you make. BUT, IT STILL IS SO VERY REWARDING. My grand-lil is our president elect. My great grand-lil is our VPR-elect. Yay! |
I hope everyone has a wonderful summer!
|
I HAVE A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teaching Algebra I resource to 9th graders. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D |
I saw that on fbook!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! That is so awesome! I just got my registration confirmation for convention!!! |

Yeah it is really expensive!
And KKPsi convention is this year! SO MUCH spent on conventions this summer! It's basically going to take all of the summer pay I get! |
I am the VPM for next year. Since we havent had a full officer training, have had 2 VPMs within the past year because of graduation, and havent had very successful recruitment weeks I thought it was crucial for me to go. Officer position or not I wanted to attend because this will be the only one while I am a collegiate member.
We have a Finanical Aid Scholarship in my chapter that we give out at the end of the year, and they were able to pay $400 of my convention costs from that. I am really thankful and was shocked to learn I had received it!! It covered my registration and my portion of the room for the convention. The President is being fully paid for by the chapter. I am flying from Chattanooga and found a great deal at http://saitravel.org *Plus some of the money goes to SAI* for under $100 flying in and out the day before from O'Hare. 4 hours flying vs. 10-12 hours driving was also an incentive. lol |
That is so awesome! Congrats! That is such a great opportunity your chapter offers!
|
Yay! I have just been asked to serve as the Region IV Yearbook reviewer! Yay!
|
Hello ladies! I just found this site. I'm a member of Gamma Pi Chapter at California State University Long Beach.
|
Well, my chapter along with the Phi Mu Alpha members had a great first rush event, a barbecue. A lot of freshman came, and much fun was had by all. :D
What are y'all doing for rush events? |
The FAU Colony (soon-to-be Lambda Pi) is having their Pledging Ceremony on Monday! Exciting. :)
|
That's awesome!
|
Well, our last rush event is tonight, and tomorrow night is Bid Night. I'm going to be so antsy tomorrow!
So, anything new in the world of you lovely SAI's? |
Even though not many post here anymore, I just wanted to share this because I feel that it's wonderful.
I have been trying really hard this semester in two classes, and I did better than I expected, but not as well as I wanted. So I started listening to "Roses" by a great rock band called Poets of the Fall. It's not related to SAI, but it always makes me think of my supportive and wonderful sisters. Just then, I got a notification that I have a new email. The email was SAI-related. I took this as a sign that everything is going to be okay. I am so glad that I know so many strong, musical women who are beautiful in every sense of the word who accepted me as one of their own.:o :) |
I'm so glad for you, Clarinette and share many of your feelings about SAI. What a wonderful sisterhood we are a part of.
There were two of us really active of the board. I get busy and only post every once in a while anymore, but GC is a great place!! Love & Roses! |
Read the article on pgs. 14-16, 32 of the Spring 2011 Pan Pipes. My alumnae interest group was featured and I was interviewed. (:
|
Hey, haven't posted here in awhile. I am happy to say that SAI has a chapter at the school I'm currently going to. The Lambda Pi chapter was installed on May 9, 2011. I was honored and ecstatic to not only partake in the initiation and installation of the colony members that I and another (former alumnae, now collegiate) helped during the process. I got to meet Elizabeth Nordling (who is awesome, btw), and... the two of us that were already initiated were installed as Charter Members (which we didn't know would happen till the day of). It was an amazing day.
|
Congratulations to you and to Lambda Pi!

^^^Girl, I'll be there. I serve on the Yearbook Directory Committee and we are required to have a booth (or some sort of info session).
|
I'm so excited that National Convention is close to me! National Convention is only a 5 hour drive from me, so I'd be more able to go! :D
|
I was wandering around the website and saw it was in Atlanta next year. And that made me very excited! From the suburbs here!
|
I'll be there! Will you?
|
Maybe my niece will be there!
|
Lynn,
Aren't you the person that PM'ed me years ago inquiring about an SAI chapter because your niece was interested in membership? If it was you, I'm so pleased to see that she got a bid & joined! If she's going to convention, let me know. Maybe we can meet up! |
I hope to go to the National Convention. I mean, I got initiated last April and it will be so close next summer? I find this to be some act of fate, as weird as that may sound. Though it will probably mean no watching Drum Corps when they come next year as things are expensive!
