Yes I did quote Titanic. You mad now or something?

macallan25 09-12-2007 02:50 PM

No, but my head hurts.

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 02:52 PM

okay.

Ok, I omitted the fluff.

Yes, there have been hazing accidents. And I guarantee that if you died as a result of a hazing accident, you'd want people to remember that.

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 03:04 PM

Yes! You have a right to remember what ever you want. Learn from it then don't let it happen again, but apparently no one does because accidents happen every year.

never did I think I would agree with one of your posts, but this is all that needs to be said.

Is the original poster a troll or just kinda psycho? Hmmm....

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 03:11 PM

well you have the right to believe what you want to. The first poster is just my opinion. My sister killed herself because people didn't think she was good enough. I don't think it is fair to call me psycho.

No, she just needs to learn how to punctuate and use paragraphs.

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 03:22 PM

okay. Highly noted. Now what. You mad now or something?

The best part of this isn't that she quoted Titanic, it's that she didn't even get the quote right. (I know, I know, I can't believe I looked it up either, but I had a little time at work while signing up to work holidays.)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120338/quotes

The real quote is . . .

"I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. You don't know what hand you're gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you... to make each day count."

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 03:33 PM

Well first of all I just took the part I liked Ma'ma.

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 03:38 PM

Well they say laughing is the best medicine. Looking back on my threads I do come off as defensive and not mindfull that hazing is wrong all together. I'm just sentitive when it comes to peoples own decisions.

Thanks in advance.

Ahem... here goes:
1. I never said I was going to hurt anyone. -and she never said she didn't.
2. If I want to join an org. I should have good grades and community service first.
3. I never said I'm ok with hazing see number one
4. Orgs can say they don't haze, but because they're secret, non-members don't know for sure.
5. Severe hazing incidents still occur; you hear about them in the news. It is likely less severe hazing incidents occur and you just don't hear about them.
6. The blame for hazing lies with the person, not the organization.
7. The hazee also takes some responsibility for letting his or her self get hazed.
8. I wasn't looking for a right or wrong answer -then why the title- in this thread, just opinions from actual Greeks.
9. I respect you.
10. Accepting compromise is a sign of nobility -Unrelated to the rest of the conversation and/or a self compliment.
11. I want to live in a world where people don't care about hazing but community service instead.
12. If no one stops underground hazing, it will never stop.
13. Hope is useless to a dead person.
14. I want to join an org. so I can change my community; my community desperately needs these changes
15. Here's my campaign platform. Please vote me for your org today.
16. Blah blah remember how I lived, not how I died.
17. I'd totally be a respectful member, vote me today.
18. Misquote from Titanic -am I the only MacGyver fan who never watched Titanic? Jack Dawson is totally a different character.

Mad? Over this? You must be kidding.

I'm just saying that not many people are going to waste their time trying to read 20+ lines of block text, no paragraph breaks and puncuation so atrocious that the sentences just run on and on and on and on and on.

Yeah, but then because of lack of punctuation, it ends up meaning the opposite of what you meant for it to mean.

Great Translation, btw. So easy to read and follow. Your services are invaluable.

Indeed. I don't know how one can confuse "ma'am" as it is spelled like it sounds.

And you're quite welcome. I do try. I even restrained my commentary... a bit.

LPIDelta 09-12-2007 03:49 PM

Once again Drole, an excellent translation! Thank you!

I appreciate that people have corrected the quote--I have been holding back because I don't want it to seem like I am picking on this poor girl.

_Lisa_ 09-12-2007 03:52 PM

Thanks Drolefille! The translation was awesome!

1908Revelations 09-12-2007 03:57 PM

Thanks for clearing that for me Ma'ma Trojan;)....hee hee!

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 04:10 PM

I'm not poor I live in a comfortable space. I don't want pity from anyone you have the right to believe and say what you want. I respect all greeks that's why I would say ma'ma or sir because I was rasied that way.

You don't call everyone "Mom" out of respect do you?

Ma'am would be appropriate, calling someone Ma'ma is just TOO weird!

I prefer "Bless her little pea-pickin' heart."

:)

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 04:16 PM

It is pronounced Ma'ma as in yes Ma'ma no Ma'ma no sir yes sir. This is mom, Mama with no mark. I may not like a lot of feed back I got from this but I do have to respect it. I was rasied that way. Anyone that is over 21 that I know is. I respond yes sir or no sir or yes ma'ma or no ma'ma.

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 04:17 PM

God will do that own his own I was also rasied to believe that.

Who called you poor? Did I miss something? The only thing I would have said was poor is your spelling and grammar. The only thing I pity about you is your inability to use the correct forms of their, there, and they're as well as to and too, and your inability to spell Ma'am.

THE WORD ENDS WITH A "MMMMMM." WHY WOULD YOU SPELL IT TO END WITH AN "AAAAAAAAA"

You're incorrect. Its actually spelled:

Ma'am, pronounced as mam, as in "Yes ma'am" or "No ma'am": Used as a form of polite address for a woman.

Ma'ma doesn't spell anything correctly, but is closest to Mama. Trying to come off as educated begins with proper spelling & grammar. You should look into it.

The word you seek is Ma'am not ma'ma.

Please see this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madam

I am from Brimingham too, and the word is Ma'am.

The quote button is your friend.

jessiwannabe 09-12-2007 04:21 PM

You would not like it if I called you a poor excuse for a person who can't understand opinions would you? Don't disrespect me and I won't do it to you.

Were you? Because, in the words of many, many GC members:

You should focus on your school work before you think about joining a GLO of any type. If you're turning in homework written like that, you're going to have a hard time moving forward.
