Quick question:

In general and in the True Brother program; are we supposed to teach values to the men, or are we supposed to bring out the values of the men?

Mooch279 08-07-2007 08:38 AM

Touchy.....i think everyone is getting a little worked up over nothing. Its not like they are changing the rights of an associate. They are simply giving structure to everything that should make a True Brother of Lambda Chi. All of the ideals are the same, all the traditions and principles are the same. The way i look at it is its just a newly structured fraternity education plan that doesn't stop after initiation.

My home chapter was one of the pilot chapters and they all seem to really embrace the program. I have to admit i haven't been involved in the day to day with them over the last year but I'm going to the semester planning meeting on Saturday so I'll try and get more info from their prospective.

As far as its being like balance man, from my understanding in balance man basically there are three levels of brothers Sigma, Phi and Epsilon. You don't know or the meaning changes as you reach a new level. Definitely not so in True Brother. Side note when i was in school their were sig eps at my school that were stuck at sigma or phi for years, towards the end i think there were very few full Epsilon level brothers in the chapter.

Guys: My bride (an elementary school reading teacher) would cringe w/the following sentence, but here it goes anyway. I was in Memphis...I believe TBI will be a great recruiting tool once everything's in place...I also know that it's gonna take some time to get this sucker fully operational.

As a facilitator @ past international gatherings, I wasn't sure of why my services weren't required for this year's LS. Now I know: it's because a select group of men have been chosen to be the "founding leaders" of TBI.

For the rest of us looking in from the alumni side, don't worry...we will be needed to help w/this initiative. It's not going to happen tomorrow, but our services will be required down the road.

Brother Lenoxx, I am trying to be holier than thou. I also do not expect IHQ to ask me about anything, do you?

The point is that I nor any Alumni need to be asked about this, but, we are still members of LXA.

I do not want to be negative about TBI, but when being kept in the dark, then it does get worriesome.

I think we all understand the purpose of this new program, but doesn't just reiterate what the original ideals were from the beginning?

If nothing else maybe things can be shortened and put in language that is understandable to one and all.

I have never been anti new, but why it was done, and what is expected to be accomplished at what cost.

I am more than willing to see what happens with TBI, but it would be nice to have a true knowledge of what it is all about, what it is expected to accompish and how soon will it take to get all Zetas up to speed on this.

"it's because a select group of men have been chosen to be the "founding leaders" of TBI."

I remeber a few years ago there were some "select groups" in the higher-ups of Lambda Chi Alpha. It almost bankrupted us.

"Select groups" don't work. We're a fraternity of over 100,000 people. Getting a few people together who do not represent the majority of Lambda Chi Alpha to implement a program affecting all undergraduates is wrong.

Im just going to go out on a limb and "Suggest" that two of our online posters "get a life" and post something useful and stop whining about TBI and the fraternity doing wrong by them.

I just looked at this for the first time in a few days and the amount of whining and nay-saying is getting way out of line. Besides, didn't one of our former moderators make his own website for fraternity discussion? Perhaps the soap box could be taken to that website.

And a big Wednesday STFU to you

Lenoxxx

We have every right as brothers to voice our opinions. For you to say otherwise, or to suppress our right as brothers, is wrong.

Have a nice day.

EM1843 08-08-2007 07:21 AM

He's not suppressing any right you have, just telling you that you two are taking it too far.

Nice and thank you for your commentary of STFUs!:D

Matt, , never mind!

GammaZeta 08-08-2007 07:04 PM

Thank you Tom.

Keep being a mindless LXA zombie. Maybe this time we won't be so lucky to survive the incompetence from a few years back and we will go officially bankrupt.

Brothers, let's pause for station identification and what we are all about:

"We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, and its traditions, principles and ideals. The crescent is our symbol; pure, high, ever growing, and the cross is our guide; denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal.

May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love."

"We stand together in Zeta Alpha Chi"

I hate to see brothers disagreeing.....make peace, my brothers, please?

Yours in ZAX...

This is better than a mexican soap on Univision!! But i think the soaps are little more upbeat and entertaining.

GammaZeta 08-09-2007 07:29 AM

and better cleavage.

As I was told by an unamed source.

TBI is along with the new webv site is being Beta tested by 20 Zetas and should have a complete roll out within the year.

That is all.

The outer circle of TBI is already in play in all chapters i believe. My chapter received its new manuals already. The website is the one with a soft rollout. Our gamma said it was a great site when he saw it at Leadership.

john1082 08-10-2007 11:53 AM

New hard copy materials.

One positive thing is that the new manuals came out simultaneously with the roll-out. We've needed new material for so long. Plus, these are hard copy books.

Something that not everyone may be aware of is that there was an initiative a couple of years ago to place all of our exoteric materials on line at FRATERNITYMANUALS.COM

http://www.fraternitymanuals.com/ind...itle=Main_Page

This would have been a dynamic format that would allow anyone with a fraternity manuals account to make changes on the fly! I didn't think that was such a hot idea and it appears that cooler, more practical heads have prevailed.

boz130 08-10-2007 03:22 PM

Just don't try to access a manual from a Mac...it's strictly a Windows-friendly environment.
