It was sad to see pictures of Merlin and Lamont.

I did notice that. Wonder why they left that info out?

Anyways, I agree, it was sad to see their pics.

jitterbug13 06-25-2007 10:48 AM

One of my coworkers said "I missed where they talked about the marriage being a sham". I told her they did talk about it but briefly. So ya'll weren't the only ones. But why they talked so much in detail about the sex tape, which had nothing to do with her (in a sense). And RayJ did talk about it, they just don't read Sister2Sister. :p

nikki1920 06-25-2007 11:44 AM

True, true.
The sex tape is more recent, I guess.

Im interested to know how involved her mom is now. It seemed like she focused so much on Brandy that she forgot about Ray J. I remember she wouldn't let Brandy's navel show until she was 18. Ray J's dickle is all over now, and she's ok with that?

This is exactly what I was thinking when I was watching it! I mean that was a scandal and it was hardly even talked about!!!

Brandy's people probably had something to do with this being made because it was all very favorable towards her, which I don't mind because I love me some Brandy!

"I wanna be down" :)

What makes you think he did this? Have they released what evidence they've found against him? I'm not saying that he didn't do it, but they were under serious pressure to charge someone.

Kinda OT but not really.

Has anyone else noticed how Essence has turned into an urban tabloid? Every time I turn around they are reporting on some gossip...what happened to the stories of substance?

CTFU!!!!

jitterbug13 06-28-2007 10:36 AM

Why does Usher love those older women with baby daddy/ex-hubby issues? I personally liked him with the model, because she was his age and didn't come with any baggage.

I wish that Justin Timberlake could have schooled him on finding older women and having the young ones swoon at you too. All I can do is wish. :(

ETA: The reason I figured it was true was there have been rumblings for weeks now and that she didn't fully answer the question to Essence when asked. That was a yes or no question and she gave this long answer.

No they didn't. Clay is for Cassis Clay, his birth name.

Where was Tyson, Holifield, Mayweather? :p

AKA2D '91 06-28-2007 10:02 PM

I think the parent gave the child their middle names from 25+ years ago. Back then, Tyson, etc were not really popular as sports figures. They were probably up and coming, but not the champions we know them to be.

I think Tyson hit big in '85.

Black Charities Should be More Innovative says Former NAACP Head

He is absolutely 100% right.

Black Charities Should Be More Innovative, Former NAACP Leader Says

By Brennen Jensen

Arlington, Va.

Bruce Gordon, who resigned in February as leader of the NAACP, told a gathering of black nonprofit leaders and donors today that some black philanthropic efforts are “caught up in ruts and old habits” and said charity leaders need to “depart from the traditional and be willing to think about uncomfortable ideas.”

Speaking to the Sixth National Conference on Black Philanthropy, which opened here on Wednesday, Mr. Gordon acknowledged that as a former businessman he has a “bias towards the for-profit model” when it comes to how to develop and run organizations designed to grapple with the challenges facing black Americans.

In particular, he said charities could benefit by looking at how mergers have helped achieved efficiencies in corporate America.
Mr. Gordon, who stepped down after just 19 months on the job in a clash with the NAACP board, cited the NAACP and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund as two entities that “share the same brand” that might benefit from uniting.

He added that that black philanthropy should be driven by “process and performance, not personalities,” suggesting that too many organizations “circle around” specific notable individuals.

Of black America, he said it was the “best of times for some and the worst of times for many,” adding, “too many in the community are thinking like victims instead of acting like powerful people.”

His closed his speech by stating that the 2008 election represented a great opportunity for black nonprofit groups to “pump ideas and principles into the campaigns of the people who want our votes.”

Has anyone read from a credible news source a story about KRS-ONE's son committing suicide? :(

I've come across it a couple of times, but mostly from blogs.

I googled it and saw it in news articles that way.

jitterbug13 07-11-2007 09:42 PM

That one is true. Read it a day or two ago.

Suprised that no one is taking about Diddy and Kim (which I knew since last week).

AKA2D '91 07-11-2007 09:57 PM

I believe folks were over Diddy and Kim after that Black Love Essence cover. So, it's more of a "dayum sistah, it's about time" type of thing. "

I read on the net that Susan Taylor is Diddy's GodMother. :o

jitterbug13 07-11-2007 10:13 PM

Susan mentioned him in the July issue of Essence.

Something tells me Kim will be back.

BV Buzz has been slow as of late and the only reason I'm posting this one is because of the K-Ci/JoJo story(have to scroll down).

Remy Ma Charged with Attempted Murder

By Nolan Strong
Attorney Scott Leemon spoke exclusively to AllHipHop.com about a shooting incident involving his Grammy Award nominated client, rap star Remy Ma, on Saturday morning in New York.

Remy Ma, 27, was charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon yesterday (July 14), after a shooting in Manhattan left a 23-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

"I made arrangements early this morning with the Hip-Hop squad of the New York Police Department to turn her in, but it did not happen until this evening as I was out of town and my flight was delayed," Remy Ma's attorney Scott Leemon told AllHipHop.com. "As to the allegations, I ask everyone to keep an open mind."

Remy Ma, born Remy Smith, surrendered to authorities yesterday evening, for her alleged role in an early morning shooting in front of The Pizza Bar in Manhattan.

According to police, Remy Ma was involved in a dispute with a childhood friend named Makeda Barnes- Joseph, after a peaceful evening at The Pizza Bar.

Remy Ma and an entourage left the establishment, but an argument ensued around 4:00 am, when she argued with longtime friend Makeda Barnes- Joseph, apparently over a $2000 debt.

Police said that Remy Ma opened the driver's side door of Barnes-Joseph's Nissan Maxima and fired her weapon, striking Barnes-Joseph twice in the torso.

Remy Ma and several unidentified men fled the scene after the shooting.

Her Cadillac Escalade was found blocks later, after the SUV crashed into another vehicle.

All occupants fled the scene on foot. The men were arrested earlier today and questioned, while Remy Ma surrendered to police this evening.

Barnes-Joseph is in Saint Vincent's Hospital and is in stable condition.

"Things are not always as they seem," Leemon told AllHipHop.com. "Remember these are only allegations."

At least Kim hires bodyguards and Foxy will phyiscally fight you. But packing heat? SMH  :(

Honeykiss1974 07-16-2007 01:37 PM

I have so many comments about the article above that don't even touch on its subject matter, but here goes..

1. There is a "Hip Hop" squad division in the NYPD? For real? The name sounds like a rap group in itself.

2. Her name is Remy Smith...so her momma really named her after Cognac? I had always thought that was a stage name - I mean, I didn't think mothers of our generation did that, but I guess so.

3. WHY!!!?!?!?! Peope need to leave them streets alone. :(

OMG, this is what I said this morning when I heard about this. I'ma need for the NYPD to get something better to do.

If this is the real story Remy should be ashamed of herself. This whole story is a hot mess.

The real crime is who ever put the poodle azz hair in her head. They need to be shot. That hair is truly a H.A.M.
