2011-2012 school year

Colonizing in Fall:

University of West Georgia
Clarion University (PA)- recolonization

Current Colonies:

Carnegie Mellon University (PA)
University of Rhode Island
Valdosta State University(GA)
Boise State University(ID)
Southern Illinois University-Carbondale
St. Francis University (PA)
University of New Hampshire

Interest Groups:

Florida Atlantic University
Loyola University-Chicago
California State University-Long Beach (recolonization)
York University(PA)

We seem to be hitting Pennsylvania pretty aggressively.

ArizonaSig 08-05-2011 06:16 PM

The interest group at Loyola University of Chicago is now a colony, they have chosen the name Sigma Chi Lambda.

ArizonaSig 09-21-2011 04:03 AM

The interest group at Florida Atlantic is now a colony, they have chosen the name Sigma Chi Phi. Also, California St. San Marcos has invited Sigma Chi to colonize there in the spring of 2013. There already is a group of men wanting to form the colony. It looks like an interest group is forming at Bentley University. And a group of men have started an interest group at Cumberland University. This would be a recharter of our Nu Chapter which became inactive in 1880.

ArizonaSig 10-14-2011 07:05 PM

An interest group at Cumberland University in Tennessee is now a colony, they have chosen the name Sigma Chi Nu. This would be a return after over 100 years to the Cumberland campus and our Nu Chapter.

LaneSig 06-11-2012 12:09 PM

University of North Carolina-Charlotte

Good luck to the colonization team.

ArizonaSig 09-02-2012 08:28 PM

LaneSig 09-10-2012 11:30 AM

Just a correction: SIU-Carbondale chapter is Lambda Omicron.

Best of luck with the new colony. However, this thread is about current Sigma Chi colonies.

LaneSig 10-23-2012 03:17 PM

Update

This is the current list of colonies. Hopefully, a couple are moving closer to chartering.

Carnegie-Melon University(PA) - Sigma Chi Alpha http://cmusigmachi.org/home chartered 11/03/12
University of Louisiana-Lafayette - Sigma Chi Zeta
Cumberland University(TN) - Sigma Chi Nu
University of West Georgia - Sigma Chi Pi
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee - Sigma Chi Rho http://uwmsigs.com/
California State University-Long Beach - Sigma Chi Sigma
Bentley University(MA) - Sigma Chi Tau http://www.sigmachibentley.com/
University of New Hampshire - Sigma Chi Upsilon
Florida Atlantic University - Sigma Chi Phi
St. Francis University(PA) - Sigma Chi Psi http://life.francis.edu/org/sigmachipsi/home chartered 12/01/12
Missouri State University - Sigma Chi Omega

Clarion University(PA) is still in the interest group stage.

For those of you reading this who are not Sigma Chi members, colonies pick their own names. They go by the colony name until they are chartered. Colonies are not required to have "Sigma Chi" as part of their name, but 99% do. My own chapter was Nu Sigma Chi while in colony stage.

Best of luck to the colony members. Colonization can be a tough, daunting road (most take 1.5-2 years). But, anyone who is a Sig will tell you that it is well worth it.

LaneSig 03-21-2013 02:55 PM

The colony at University of North Carolina-Charlotte pledged 21 men.

LaneSig 04-09-2013 01:18 PM

The colonies at Florida Atlantic University and the University of New Hampshire are up for a vote to receive their charters. UNH will be chartered on April 27 and FAU will be chartered on May 4. They will be our 241st & 242nd chapters.

ETA: The chapter at UNH should be the Lambda Sigma chapter and FAU should be the Lambda Tau chapter.
