They're all singing one of my all time fave songs tonight... so far, they haven't ruined it.
~~Have you ever ever really, really, really ever loved a woman?~~ |
I think the male talent this year greatly outshines the female talent.
|
I don't think the judges heard/saw the same contestants as we in TV land saw... they put through some really sucky singers!
Seriously - Sundance? Dude that looks like the dude on Nacho Libre? Just about ALL of the girls? Maybe Paula ought to be sharing her special "liquid diet" with the rest of us! |

I am rooting for Gina, Lakisha, Melinda, Phil, Chris Sligh, and Nick. Of course my choices will probably change in a week. Last year at this time I was a Pickler girl, but then by the time they got to the top 12 I wanted her out of there! |

I definitely agree that the men are stronger this year. Lots of whom are easy on the eyes as well. :D |
I don't know many people's names yet, but the ones I like are...
- Chris, the dude that looks like Jack Osbourne; Great voice and amazing personality! - The asian guy - The blonde beat-boxer - The other blonde guy that sounds a little like Justin Timberlake - Melinda, the back up singer - Lakisha, the Michigan girl! :) A lot of the girls were forgettable. Also, if you're an ethnic guy, this is definitely your year. |

Um yeah...I never said she was good. I just said that she got a bigger break. |

My favorite right now is Paul. I like the boy-band sounding voices. :)
The contestants are older this year than they've been in past years. It seems that most are in their mid to late 20s. I like that better because the contestants tend to have more experience and are much more mature. |

One night. 2-3 minutes tops. versus American Idol. Mmmmmkay. |

Being on the Grammy stage with Justin before you land a record deal is a pretty nice way to get your foot in the door. And who knows where that '3 min.' performance is going to take her. American Idol doesn't make a career every single time. Yeah, I do consider that to be a big deal. Maybe a little bigger considering she did not make it to the final 24. Glad I could provide amusement for you. |

I usually hate the way AI carries out all the auditions, but then you get the H'wood round and its like - oh, here are the top 24. I mean we haven't even had any air time with these people to know if we like them or not! What happened to the girl from the first audition (I think) who said she was a crack baby? Is she in the top 24? That's really the only standout I remember from the auditions. |

Isn't the Hollywood round normally longer than a day? I seriously thought I had more time to pick who I liked. Right now I have NO clue. |
There hasn't been a good looking guy to win Idol yet. Blake Lewis is my early front runner for eye candy and talent.
|
Lots of "meh" tonight. Blake, Brandon, Phil (once he got to the chorus), and Chris S. were good. A.J. was all right too. Everyone else = ZZZZZZ.
|
Not great tonight, but here are the guys I liked:
- Chris S. - Jared - Brandon - Phil - Paul - AJ - Blake I hint for future contestants... DO NOT sing Gavin or Edwin, you will suck compared to them. |

Looking at Sanjaya made me feel a bit perverted. I felt as if I were stuck in the 70s watching the teenybopper of the week. Blake, Phil, and Jared are definitely my favorites so far. |
Go Blake! I'm hoping they will have to eat their words about the Seattle tryouts... :) I count five of the top 24 that tried out in Seattle, so even though the judges said it was the worst set of tryouts they've ever had, it looks like they found a handful that are pretty darn good. Memphis seems to be the most popular tryout city of the top 24.

I liked Chris S. the best. And I think he made a good point to Simon that the song he sang is what a lot of kids like now. Just because it's not a dance hit from the 80s or a ballad from the 90s doesn't mean it can't be good!
I thought Blake was good, too. Phil was good with the chorus, but I couldn't stand looking at him behind the mike - he was all ears and big eyebrows. Sanjay and Paul Kim are two others I couldn't stand looking at - heebie jeebies. Brandon I thought was really not good at all, but will stick around for another week. Going home - I think Nicholas Pedro and Rudy will go home - maybe Sanjaya... |
Double post - sorry...
According to www.dialidol.com Sundance got the most votes (), followed by Sanjaya (:( I don't like him) then Chris R (little Chris). AJ, Blake, Phil, Brandon, and Chris S (big Chris) were all about the same. Rudy and Jared were a little below that group. Which leaves, going home... Paul Kim and Nicholas Pedro |
If what Kathy posted is correct, that is awful! Paul was much better than both Sanjaya and Sundance and deserves to stay.

I thought Blake was amazing, and I liked big Chris and Phil too. Everyone else was mehhhhh.
Sundance looks like a little circus bear. Ew. |

Phil won me over during Hollywood week with "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman". I hope he picks songs that start off better from now on. |
I duno who's who but I like Sundance and the bigger guy with the fro. Who's who?? lol
|
Quote:
Fro Guy (Big Chris?) reminds me of a Supersize Me Jack Osbourne. |
IMO, the stand outs tonight were...
- Lakisha - Melinda - Sabrina - Jordin Everyone else was meh. |

I didn't get to see the guys last night--but it seems like despite the fact that I thought the guys were better during Hollywood week that there are some great girls this year. |

Should not have looked at dialidol for the girls results. Someone(s) is seriously voting for Antonilla (sp?)??? (Don't wanna miss a thing girl) And I'm not really sure why. But hey... the bottom two girls listed on it probably deserve it too. |
Yeah, dialidol really surprised me on the girls!
Lakisha was amazing and I like her even more b/c she's a Michigan girl! ;) But I also really love Melinda. She's really great and seems so humble. I also liked the skinny girl with the super curly hair. I didn't think Jordin was all that. I thought that song was too mature for her - it's about a woman scorned, she's 17, what does she know about that? And I thought it was too fast and felt like she couldn't keep up. I do think she has good voice, though. I like Gina and think she should make the top 12, but don't see her winning anything. I hope people vote talent and Antonella gets gone soon! |
Based on last night, I think the top 6 girls are Stephanie, Melinda, Lakisha, Sabrina, Jordin, and Gina. I think the VotefortheWorst factor is going to keep Antonella around at least another week. I'm guessing Alaina and Amy go home, although I'd like to see more of what Amy can do.

I can't help it. I like Antonella. Where in Michigan is Lakisha from? |
Lakisha is from Flint and has been all over the local news. She's currently living somewhere else though, I heard.
I was so into watching Grey's (yeah, I watched the one part again.. it was the 4th time for me!) that I forgot to flip over to see who was kicked off Idol.. sooooo, who went home? |
Amy, Nicole, Paul, and Rudy.
How on earth is Alaina still there? |
Quote:
My thoughts exactly. |
And how the hell did Antonella and Sanjaya end up being one of the top vote getters? I already have the feeling that they'll both be this year's John Stevens.
|
Quote:
Sorry folks, as Simon likes to say "This is a singing competition". If it were up to me, Alaina, Sanjaya, and Antonella would all be gone by now (and hopefully will be next week!!!) |
