There were times when I cried as I wrote it so I think I know the scenes that possibly made you cry.

CT4,
I have read your book, and I LOVED it!!! My students are in to Sharon Draper, and while she is great, I must say that several of the students I lent my copy to said your book was better. Is there any way I could pay for a class set? How would I do that?

DableST_1 02-18-2007 01:17 AM

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am know I am a day late and a dollar short but I just had to say CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have spent most of my evening trying to catch up on the happs on greekchat since I have been MIA for so long....So now I have to go and get myself a copy! I can't wait to get it, and since I am a vivid reader, I am sure I will be done with the book in a day or two!

I told my friend about it as well, and she is going to order a copy as well. She is a school teacher and she has an after-school book club for her students. I will definitly ask her if she can add this book to her reading list for her students.

CONGRATS AGAIN GIRL!!!!! SOOOOO proud! I am finishing up on my first book, so I can only imagine how you felt when you recieved your first copy IN YOUR HANDS! That must have been a joyous moment! :D :D

I love when people follow their hearts and dreams!!!!

Oh yeah, and PLEASE let me know if you ever come to the Chi!!!!

DableST_1 02-18-2007 02:08 AM

Are you my long lost twin????

So I just purchased "Freshman Focus" from Amazon. I also went to your website and read your bio! WOW.....it's amazing how we have the SAME interests in books and we were raised the same way!!! When I was on punishment, my mom took away my reading privileges as well, and I was just S-I-C-K!!! Actually every Christmas, when I was younger, I didn't want dolls, toys, etc...I wanted BOOKS BOOKS and more BOOKS!!!! My brother use to call me a nerd, because I loved books, and wanted to be the NEXT Ann M. Martin, Francine Pascal, or Judy Blume, AND/OR I wanted to be an opera singer...Definitely something that wasn't the norm in my community at the time. :( I LOVE me some Judy Blume and Encyclopedia Brown. This past Christmas on ebay, I came across someone who was selling their ENTIRE Sweet Valley Twins/Babysitting Club/ collection and I just HAD To get it! Girl you can only imagine my how my husband looked when I opened up the box and saw the books! He was like   I started reading them all over again, and was getting chills because it brought back SOOOOO many memories!

I gave my original collection away to a library that we started in my old neighborhood when I was a freshman in college. There were a lot of kids that didn't have transportation to the library but wanted to read. So me and my childhood friend started a library in the basement of her mom's old house. We even created library cards for them to use. It was mixed emotions I tell ya....part of me didn't want to give away my precious books, but a HUGE part of me was happy that I was able to donate them. I was TOOOOO thrilled when I found them on ebay, because I want my *Future* daughter to have the same experiences that I had growing up...

I can't wait till I get it in hand!!!!

If I can support Francine Pascal, Judy Blume, Donald J. Sobol, Ann M. Martin, and many many others.... then I can DEF add my soror..Carla R Sarratt to the list! I can't wait for your next book. From there, I pray that I can build a Carter G. Woodson High School collection!!!!

CrimsonTide4 02-18-2007 09:58 AM

Y'all got me floating!!!!

Pinkies Up, when I get back to Charlotte tonight, we'll talk!!! :) Thanks for ordering and loving the book. You know I am geeked with your student right now, right? You give that girl an A!!!!!! :D

Soror Vicki, WOW you know I want to break in your house and STEAL those books, right?????????? You enjoy them! For Christmas, I got a lot of Ramona books as well as some Judy Blume books and Anastasia as well. It was a beautiful trip down memory lane!!!

Thanks to you both for your support! Thanks to all for the congratulations! This really is a beautiful miracle right now!!! :)

There isn't a grin big enough right now!

I received my book yesterday!!!!!! :D
And CT, thanks for the addition to my inscription. ;) :D

MeezDiscreet 02-25-2007 10:38 PM

I feel like a dummy!

So I check my mailbox today because it's the end of the month and I see the package I've been waiting on and expecting to be in the office where my deliveries normally go. I know the people in the office would think I was a total lunatic if they learned that all this time, it was in my mailbox. In my defense, the box is so small that I only get regular mail and someway, the mailman was able to fit it in that tiny space. But, at any rate...

YAY!!!! Soror Cyber Spec, I got my package and my eyes welled up at the inscription. I'm just soooooo proud and happy for you and I'm happy that I've gotten a chance to meet you and know you! :)

CrimsonTide4 02-25-2007 11:04 PM

Well we know who doesn't check her mailbox like a good girl! :p It runs in the Delta family because I am the same way, lol.:o But it doesn't take me a month, just once a week.

ETA: Thank you for your words! The feeling is definitely mutual. :D

MeezDiscreet 02-27-2007 09:43 PM

My 1st Interview

In February, I was interviewed by fellow young adult author Paula Chase, author of So Not the Drama. Check out the interview in the Clique Lounge. Find out which character from Freshman Focus enters a Celebrity Death Match with the main character from another book. Read who I would like to see cast as the main characters in the movie version of Freshman Focus. Get the inside scoop as to what type of shoe I am.

btb87 03-15-2007 09:16 AM

I kept waiting to come over here and post, but little btb was taking a minute to finish the book - well, she finally finished!

This little girl (and as she told me last night, she's not a little girl - she's almost 13!) is not fond of reading. She definitely didn't get that from her mom! Anyway, I asked her last night if she finished reading Freshman Focus and she says "I finished reading that a long time ago!" (I only asked her 100 thousand times to let me know when she finished the book.) So I asked how did she like it - her response was that it was good and she wished there were more of it. And when I said "Well, I'll have to let Miss Carla know this" her eyes got big and she said "You know her???" Not like I didn't tell her that at least 90 thousand times. Now, if the book isn't too beat up, I'll start on it this week.

So as others have said, let's get the others cranked out!!!!! If there's something that will keep little btb interested in reading, then I need it quick, fast and in a hurry! :)
