Santorum's family looks retarded. Whenever I see the word "Santorum," I think of Dan Savage. Awesome! |

I know sometimes we feel like our vote doesn't always count or even mean anything..... especially if we're a dem in a red state and vice versa. However, we have one race here in NC for our state house (I think it's the NC 100) where the winner is up by........ 7 votes.
|
I can't believe the people in my state voted for a guy who lists his economic honor society from 1979 on his webpage, and also believes breast cancer and abortion are linked. He has a JD, and isn't an MD, wtf.
UGH |

The doll that kid's holding looks like it got the beat down after daddy didn't get re-elected. |

A better picture.
The doll's dress matches the kid's. I'm sorry (ah, who am I kidding...I'm not!), but that's one ugly family. |

ETA: Nevermind, the page has changed now that he has won. It has a big picture of him congratulating himself with clapping and this goober grin. Hopefully the cached links will work. |

The Santorum children have been pimped and used for publicity beyond what any reasonable human would consider appropriate during this election. There are lots of reasons to hate Tricky Rick, but this is the topper. I don't even want to get into how I feel about their mother going along with it.
BTW OTW (ha ha that's funny) I know which picture you posted, but I'm getting a red X. |

AMEN!!!! Although the last I checked, JD Hayworth was still refusing to concede to Mitchell, even though Mitchell is like ahead by 6,000 votes. Hello, you lost! Get over it! But then agian, I am talking about JD Hayworth, what else should I expect. I'm so happy about the democratic congress, maybe the crap of NCLB (that makes my life a living hell as a teacher) will be changed (if even a little, like I don't know, actually GIVING US THE MONEY!!!!!) Off my soapbox. |

OTW, you're right on...that is one fugly family. |

She's probably crying because her father exploited the hell out of her and her siblings for his own personal gain then didn't even win. She may also be crying because maybe now they'll have to move back to their two/three (can't remember which- either way, WAY too small for the size of the family) bedroom home in Penn Hills (suburb of Pittsburgh)- back story- this is the home they claim as their official residence, though they've never lived there. There was also a huge stink when the public got wind that even though they all lived in Virginia, since their "official" residence was that home in Penn Hills, the Penn Hills school district had to pay a bazillion dollars for the Santorum clan's cyber schooling. |

I saw the kid crying on the news yesterday. It was comical.
I guess you can't give her too much slack for dressing like her doll. People under 10 can collect them. Once you're over 10, that's just sad. Hooray for Allen finally conceding! I voted for Webb :) |
OMG Pennsylvania people is this true?!
"Karen Santorum wrote a book about [their baby dying two hours after birth]: Letters to Gabriel: The True Story of Gabriel Michael Santorum. In it, she writes that the couple brought the deceased infant home from the hospital and introduced the dead child to their living children as "your brother Gabriel" and slept with the body overnight before returning him to the hospital." I have to say that this is really creepy. I totally understand getting to hold your baby after it dies, but taking it home? Sleeping with it? The really creepy thing is that their oldest kid was 5 at the time. |

You'd think there'd be some sort of law preventing something like that...aren't there fairly strict rules about the handling of dead bodies? |

Maybe a mistake was made in VA:
Maybe a mistake was made in VA:
From a Washington Post profile of Virginia's Sen.-elect Jim Webb: At a recent White House reception for freshman members of Congress, Virginia's newest senator tried to avoid President Bush. Democrat James Webb declined to stand in a presidential receiving line or to have his picture taken with the man he had often criticized on the stump this fall. But it wasn't long before Bush found him. "How's your boy?" Bush asked, referring to Webb's son, a Marine serving in Iraq. "I'd like to get them out of Iraq, Mr. President," Webb responded, echoing a campaign theme. "That's not what I asked you," Bush said. "How's your boy?" "That's between me and my boy, Mr. President," Webb said coldly, ending the conversation on the State Floor of the East Wing of the White House. |
A mistake? While not the politest remark I completely understand the sentiment.
His son will not be safe until he's home. If VA wanted the GOP Senator, they'd have voted for him. |
As a Virginian who voted for Webb, I have to say that his comments to Bush make me even more certain that Virginia chose the right man.

Was father talking about private, personal, family matters. Just happened to be speaking with POTUS with a reporter in the area. I do have to wonder just where the "campaign" speech spin came from. |
