OK, found one and it's bigger than my thumbnail. So, boy's thumbnail size ;) |
Since my database at work is being slow:
Alpha Kappa Alpha: http://hjgreek.com/assets/images/pro...arge/10177.jpg Alpha Sigma Alpha: http://hjgreek.com/assets/images/pro...large/7022.jpg Delta Delta Delta: http://hjgreek.com/assets/images/pro...large/9366.jpg |
I have an A Xi quill from 1912 and it's even smaller than the ones worn now. It's maybe an inch long.
|
I just checked our website, and unfortunately, there aren't any photos of some of the original Adelphean pins. There's one photo in our New Member Manual that shows an antebellum Adelphean with her badge on a hair ribbon - it has to be at least 4" long!! Now, our diamond is about an inch long.
|
From what I got in Baird's the badge was the same design except instead of saying ADPi they said Adelphean so imagine the badge being large enough to fit that...
Unfortunately, no pictures :( |
Many times early Badges/Pins were smaller as to cut cost.
As time evolved, Badges/Pins were standardized for size. Many NIC have/had sweet heart Badges that were smaller. Some just plain some with gems. There depending on the GLO were an assorment of gems that could be used and where on the Badge/Pin. Check out GLO sites and see the different distinctions as it were. Some stay plin, and some are Bling-Bling as some call them!:) |

Might this be a photo you seek?? |
OOOOOOOOoooooooooo! Where did you get that pic Denise? Beautiful. :)

I just purchased this yesterday and sent my badge so it fits properly today! I got the 10K! I'm so excited! My badge is my great-grandmother's from 1924! I've been wanting to do this for a while!

OleMissGlitter, you'll really enjoy that -- my Mom's Chi Omega badge is on a similar pendant setting & I wear it much more often than I would just the badge by itself. Just a tip -- I use a dab of clear nail polish or a dot of Elmer's glue on the clasp for safety.
|
Good idea! Will do! I love my badge (I wear my great-grandmother's since I lost mine a few years ago) and I thought this would encourage me to wear it more to AOII events and just to wear when I get all dressed up! I'm really excited and if I can get a good camera I'll take a pic once I get it all! I figure it will take at least a month since it went to Herff Jones directly to be fitted.
|
I didn't think that we were allowed to wear our badge as a pendant or ring, but came across the ring adapter thing on the Herff Jones site. I just forwarded the link to our HQ asking if it was acceptable.
I would love to be able to wear our badge as a ring or put it on my charm bracelet. I rescued a few badge from E-bay, so I wouldn't be using mine, but one of my "extras" |

When the pendant arrived, for some reason the clasp wasn't fitting through the hole and it wasn't setting properly. I had to wait a few months till Convention so that the folx at BurrPatt could fix it and set it properly. I didn't trust sending it via USPS! |

OleMissGlitter, that is a gorgeous setting!! I've never seen one like that - does the pin "swing" at all, or is it stationary? I have a pin necklace, but the pin can be taken off, and it's set on a larger, plain gold diamond. As much as I love it, the setting pales in comparison to yours! |

I love this poster
|
I think I like the previous one better, the darker background made the badges really pop... *looking for the image*

I have the green background one hanging up in my office at home

Actually I just realized they took the same pictures and moved them I think. The glare on the DG badge is exactly the same.
|
I really like the poster but I need to voice a complaint ... I know bitchy bitchy ...
but I hate the way our Quill is pictured straight across .. granted its probably the only badge meant to be worn at an angle, but it is a writing instrument after all ... not a toothbrush!!! I just wish it were shown in the correct wearning position. |
The Pi Phi arrow is also supposed to be worn pointing upward. NPC should probably reconfigure the poster for the correct angles but keep the green background.
