I don't really even know why you responded to me about the law school thing.......I realize i'll have to make the requirements to get in. I made the comment in response to someone stating that he shouldn't get into Harvard business school because he wouldn't be able to handle it. Sometimes experience is far more valuable than sitting in a classroom.

With that said, I know Bush's past PA during his first term very well (Logan Walters). He went to Texas and i'm good friends with his younger brother who is at the Citadel. I can promise you he did a little more than walk the dog and hold mints. That article really doesn't do the position any justice.

I am actually quite shocked that some of you don't think being the President's right hand mand is that big of a deal and, what was it, "the same as any 'ole assistant job."

........with that said.....Pierce Bush is about to be over here in a little while........perhaps I'll get him to get the lowdown on all of this. I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving uncle George a call.

LOL, someone sounds mad.

actually, i said this has nothing to do with his ability to do the work. if you actually took the time to read what i wrote, this is about minimum requirements. last time i checked, to get into any graduate/professional level institution one had to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in something. as i stated previously

obviously reading is not fundamental at some universities.

But Kddani mentioned something about a gratutious ass shot....honestly, I rather see some PA's ass then Dubya's ANY DAY! lol.

I didn't know whether macallan was namedropping or sharing a joke with us. Next he'll be telling us that Ben Dover is on his way over to discuss his affectionate ties with the Pres.

I know! LOL. But at the time we were discussing the possibility of a job satisfying educational requirements. I definitely wasn't equating the two, just giving an example in response to your law school comparison. :)

Agreed. Seriously is there really a "Pierce Bush"? It sounds like a bad porn name.

Pierce Bush is the nephew of our Commander In Chief. His father is Neil Bush. He is probably named after his grandmother's paternal side. His grandmother, Barbara (the former First Lady) has the maiden name of Pierce.

He went to Georgetown initially but apparently transferred to UT-Austin.

shinerbock 10-03-2006 09:42 PM

Everyone I've ever met from Austin knows some Bush family member, so he's probably serious. On a side note, I'd like to marry Lauren.

macallan25 10-03-2006 09:46 PM

Yeah, I wasn't name dropping.....I was being serious. He's a damn good guy. We see Jenna and her sister in Austin quite often......its really not that big of a deal down here at all, especially around the fraterity/sorority scene.....so for those of you who thought I was trying to be "big and bad".....I wasn't.

I'm not mad......

This is what you responded to me with:

I never said anything about him getting in/not getting in because of requirements. I responded to a post questioning his ability to be able to do the work and cope with being at a top rate business school....from which I stated that experience can help quite a bit, I believe Shiner said something similar. I realize you never commented on ability........I never said you did. If anyone needs to re-read a post...its you.

If you want to respond to me, save your petty bullshit insults for someone who cares. Surely you can come up with something better than "obviously reading is not fundamental at some universities." I know you have convinced yourself that you are the most intellectually superior person on Greekchat.....but it is astounding to me how lame you can get when you are actually trying to be a dick.

just because i said you didn't read my post? apparently you're not getting mad because you're dredging up stuff that has nothing to do with the conversation, LOL. i didn't even talk about anything like that, but you're already post about it. gee, you're a sensitive one.

now back to the actual subject, the point of this thread has nothing to do with him being able to do the work and everything with him bypassing minimum requirements. if i read enough books on medicine and work in a hospital, by golly i should be allowed into med school. screw a bachelor's.

I'm sorry, I know it has NOTHING to do with this thread (ok, maybe just a little) but I found this very amusing and wanted to share.

If you go on wikipedia and look under "Neil Bush" you'll find this:

Bush and his former wife, Sharon Smith, were married for 23 years. They divorced in April 2003, amid a dispute with Maria and Robert Andrews. Robert Andrews sued Sharon in September 2003 for defamation after Sharon alleged that Neil was the father of the Andrews' two-year-old son. Bush's divorce deposition gained public attention when he admitted to several sexual encounters with women in Thailand and Hong Kong.

Neil and Sharon are the parents of three children; Lauren (a model), Pierce, and Ashley. The divorce proceedings gained public attention. Among the incidents aired in the press, Neil Bush's friend John Spalding announced that Sharon had extracted hair samples from her estranged husband in order to place a voodoo curse on him. Sharon Bush later confirmed the forcible hair removal, but she stated that she took the hair to be tested for evidence of drug use. At various times Sharon Bush publicly spoke of her fear of retribution by Neil Bush and the Bush Family. At other times she praised Barbara and George Bush's understanding. One of these conversations with author Kitty Kelley was witnessed by a third party.

Bush remarried in Houston, Texas on March 6, 2004 to Maria Andrews. Andrews spent time volunteering with charitable organizations with Neil's mother, Barbara Bush.

Hey, starang21, I understand the point about bypassing requirements......thanks. What is the matter with you? Trying to explain something to you makes we want to kick small children. THERE WAS A SMALL DISCUSSION A FEW PAGES BACK.......about how he may fare well at Harvard because of his experience and the people that he has been around. I know its hard for you to handle, but some of us deviated from the "requirements" topic for just a short while. I'm really sorry about that. That is what I commented on, as well as Shinerbock and a couple others.

You should know by now that I generally don't respond to anything you say. I never made it a point to comment on your incessant barage of posts concerning requirements. I understand that not graduating probobly looks fishy. I don't really care though. If he does well, good for him.

he very well might be a genius and be able to hack the work and have the minimum academic knowledge to get somewhere. though i think that's probably not the case because the kid dropped out his freshman year. fishy is the understatement of the year regarding his admission.

Yes, I am crying and have no control over my emotions. I am sitting at my computer with a bottle of Xanax and a double scotch neat.

Well, I don't know the guy, so i'm not going to make any assumptions on his academic ability and if he can hack it or not. To me, him not having an undergrad degree is about the same as going to a graduate program after majoring in something completely unrelated to what you are planning on studying.

Most graduate programs expect for you to make up for your unrelated field degree by taking prerequisites and/or having had years of experience in a (directly) related field. Directly, meaning, not working at a nail salon and claiming to have acquired field related experiences by overhearing judges' and attorneys' work-related conversations.

Possibly - I still think, though, that if it wasn't the name "Bush" attached, some of the criticisms in this thread would change to "Good for him!"

That's just my read on it though. I also agree with Munchkin that, while the admission is one thing, how well he does with it is a whole other matter.

Of course the name "Bush" is important to the argument and a reason for it. The names Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Eisenhower would cause the same argument -- at least in my mind.

The almost surely wouldn't be getting this break if he didn't have presidential backing.

That's the point as I see it.

Haha, fair enough.

Delt, as to your point, I don't personally think the names of the other presidents given would cause the same reaction from some of the people responding in the thread. I think people see the name "Bush" and instantly get a negative reaction. If this was Clinton or Carter, some of the people in this thread would probably have a more positive reaction to this.

I'll be honest, your probably right. If it were any other president but Bush, I probably wouldn't be as upset. I still would be though!

i don't think its right that others work their butt off for 4 (or more) years to get into a top school like Harvard, and here comes Joe Shmoe who makes PB&J sandwiches for the Pres, and he gets into an MBA program with nothing but a "drop-out freshman year" on his record!

Its not right, and its not fair---but life isn't fair. So what can ya do, ya know? We can bitch and moan all we want, its not like its gonna change anything.
