I have a pair of Stuart Weitzman's. Not too crazy about them. For the amount that they cost I feel like you can do a lot better IMO.

Okay. Here is your mission should you choose to accept it.

I need shoes that can double for work and casual. My office is not a business suit kind of place, but we aren't super casual either. Occasionally, you'll see someone in jeans, but I usually go with skirts or pants. I simply cannot afford to buy a million different shoes for different outfits, so I need something that is going to work with my work clothes but would be cute with jeans, too. I prefer not to spend more than $50-$75. Is it possible?

Go to it.................

What colors do you usually wear? How high of a heel do you want? Round or pointy toe?

Drolefille 08-25-2006 11:20 AM

This post will self destruct...

/sorry, just witty banter, no shoes

I wear a range of colors so I like to have shoes in browns or black. For work and school, I like a flat to moderate heel (nothing over maybe 1.5 to 2 inch). I like both round and pointy but not so pointy that you could impale someone.

tunatartare 08-25-2006 11:45 AM

What's your shoe size?

LouisaMay 08-25-2006 11:52 AM

seven

xo_kathy 08-25-2006 11:59 AM

I personally think flats or low heels look cute with jeans. And if it's flat or low-heeled, you can even do a pointy toe and it's still pretty darn comfortable. I found these on zappos.com. Even if you don't get them, I think I might!:

KLPDaisy,
I actually have the top Steve Madden (okay...they're not really Steve Madden, but they look exactly like that).

AlphaFrog and xo_Kathy...I can't see your pics. Sorry.

xo_kathy 08-25-2006 12:06 PM

Hmm, I see mine and hers. Maybe because they are both from zappos...Sorry, I'm not tech savvy enough to figure out the problem!

They're cute, though! I promise! :)

AlphaFrog 08-25-2006 12:11 PM

One really nice thing about zappos.com is you can pick the size, price, width, color, height, etc...so you only get exactly what you're looking for. (Although, there is some garbage on there too...)

I don't care how nice these are, flip flops should not cost $630.

I'm not wild on the color, either.

tunatartare 08-25-2006 12:20 PM

I love them. Like woah.

Sale Alert!

Steve Madden has some really cute shoes on summer clearance right now.

http://www.stevemadden.com/category.asp?id=157

Love the Addie! And there are some flip flops for under 20 dollars.

My paycheck is going to hate you in a minute.

And I think I mean despise, but I'll get back to you.

I haven't yet...I got to the part about "All sales final, no returns"...and I have bad luck with shoes fitting properly, so that's making me kinda nervous...

blueangel 08-25-2006 12:55 PM

Oh OK. I don't blame you. If you have a Lord and Taylor near you, or other dept. store that carries Steve Madden shoes, you could call them and see if they have that style and if they're on clearance. If they're not at the clearance price, you can at least get to try them on, and then order from the website. Even if they have one size above or below you, you'll get a good idea of how they feel if you try them on in the store.

I fell in love with a pair of gold Steve Madden sandals, but my size was sold out in Lord & Taylor. I ended up ordering them through the website... and I just LOVE them!

valkyrie 08-25-2006 12:57 PM

Hm, I don't like quite a few of the shoes in this thread, but these pups are HOT:

No L&T here...AXiD670...what the heck do we have in Charlotte?

blueangel 08-25-2006 01:05 PM

Any of these near you?

The only solution is to get pregnant. My mom gained a half a size for every two kids.

/Can't believe I just advocated pregnancy as a way to increase your shoe size ;)

ZTAMich 08-25-2006 02:23 PM

Macy's has SM on clearance too. I thought the selection at the store here in NYC was horrible tho.

It always is. It's geared to like 15 year olds. They don't have any of the classier styles.

Scandia 08-25-2006 03:06 PM

AlphaFrog- the ones I have are even more discrete (sp?) than that, because all stitches are black just like the shoes and thus do not show. If I wear them with black trouser socks and black pants, somebody who is not looking closely has no way to know the style of shoes I am wearing.

LouisaMay- I bought a lovely pair of flats that work well for business at Sears about a week ago. They were on sale for about 40 dollars (if that).

And speaking of paychecks, my raise went through today!

I'm surprised that Sears has shoes that cost more than $40. And congrats on the raise!

They carry MUDD & Sketchers & Adidas...you know, the brands that teens will pay out the ying-yang for.

tunatartare 08-25-2006 03:16 PM

I never understood why Mudd and Skechers cost as much as they do seeing as they're pretty darn ugly and most of their shoes aren't even real leather.

AlphaFrog 08-25-2006 03:19 PM

Sketchers had some cute shoes back in 2000 or so for highschool students. (Actually, I remember getting a nice purple leather pair of tennis shoes in 2001, but those were for gym/practice type stuff...) They've tried to branch out to the adult audience, and I don't think it's worked.

tunatartare 08-25-2006 03:22 PM

Their lug sole boots were the shit my freshman year of high school. After that, everyone pretty much stopped wearing them. Never even owned a pair back them. And oh yea, in 5th grade, they were really popular because they made patent leater sneakers with a white rubber heel that every one just had to have.

I think I had those same shoes!!!! :D

absoluteZChi 08-27-2006 10:01 PM

ok, I LOVE shoes like everyone else, however I am balance-challenged in this dept. I can manage a kitten heel and this is only for a couple of hours. After that my feel (at the ball) start to hurt or I find myself starting to teeter. Can anyone offer any words of wisdom about how I can achieve better balance with a higher heel…I know a wider heel would help, but I really would like to be able to wear stilettos once in my life.

tunatartare 08-27-2006 10:04 PM

Have you tried those massaging gel insoles? I got ones that you put in your shoes where the balls of your feet are, and after standing up for about 2.5 hours in 3.5" stilettos, my feet were fine.
