Seriously, how can you EVEN compare that surgery to people with anorexia or bulimia?!?!?! Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is?!?!?!

Actually there have been normal heighted petite people who've had the surgery, though this is mostly overseas.

Again, if I wore a size 20 and complained about the lack of choice for me, you'll all be applauding my campaign. But since I'm short and thin, you're making fun of me. Quite a double standard, eh?

No. You're dragging yet another thread through the petite mud. Take it back to the Petite thread PLEASE.

If you were a size 20 and doing this I'd be equally annoyed.

Just for the record, my friend had the surgery that Taualumna mentioned. She was in a horrible car crash, had her car wrapped around a tree, and lost 2" of bone in one of her legs when the firemen had to cut the car open to get her out. She needed the surgery to make both of her legs the same size again. I don't know what kind of people you know, but this isn't a cosmetic surgery that just anyone can get done. You need to have a medical reason for it.

If you wore a size 20, I can almost guarantee that Rudey and Bobby would be all over your thread telling you to go to the gym and Macallan25 would be telling you to go on an all scotch diet.

Drolefille 07-26-2006 04:15 PM

So anyway, Miss Universe.....

Yes, petite clothes stop 5'3" but since your not 6'0" tall like Miss Universe your life has been ruined b/c tall people have conspired to ruin the world.

I love Miss Japan's costume. I'm glad that she won for Best Costume. I think that she was robbed for Miss Universe, IMO.

So I'm happy to see that I wasn't the only one that thought Miss Japan got robbed! :D

About the weight issue, I'm in the minority by saying I blame Hollywood. Look at the young girls. As I stated before, there are first, second, and third- graders that are self-conscious about their weight. That's sad. It breaks my heart. They should concentrate on being little girls and playing with Barbie dolls and not being Barbie dolls. It's true that it's not cool to be overweight, but it's not cool to be anorexic.

For those of you that stated that there need to be images of size 2 girls, do you consider Marilyn Monroe to be overweight? What about Tiffani Thiessen or Beyonce? May I need to remind you that Tiffani was told by producers to lose weight. Tiffani was happy with her curves. There is nothing wrong with having curves. You need them to bear children. I would rather be like Tiffani or Beyonce than twigs like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. If I was 5'5" (which I'm not), and weigh 130 lbs (5 pounds smaller than Marilyn), and my agents and producers told me to lose weight, I would fire my agents and turn down roles, because I would be happy with my curves. I'm sorry, but I do not want to look like a twig.

On a side note, I want to get down to a size 6P. Currently, I'm plus-size.

Now about the height, sometimes, I wish that I was 5'4", but hey, I have to do the best that God gave me with my height. I'm 5'2.5" (I round up my height about 80% of the time, i.e. on myspace.com, I put down 5'3") The pants may be too long, but I'm used to it.

Well, you do win the privilege to live in a sweet-a$$ apartment in Manhatten for a year, and all of your room, board and living expenses are paid for. That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

i didn't watch the pageant b/c it completely slipped my mind, but here is Miss Japan for the benefit of others who wanted to assess the "she was robbed" feeling:

If that fails me I shall certainly consider your plan.

If you wore a size 20 at your height, I'd tell you to get on a treadmill.

Also appropriate for this thread is my favorite Martin Luther quote:

Little girls are weeds that should be mown down.

Did I say that I was going to get it done? I DO know that on this side of the pond, a medical reason is necessary. It isn't in Asia though (and I'm not going to fly out there to get the procedure because again, I don't want to have it done.)

You really should seek some sort of counseling to help you move on with your life and deal with the fact that you're short and THERE'S NOT A DAMN THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. Citing some extreme example of leg lengthenig is ridiculous. People either do it because of a) medical reasons or b) extreme desperation and probably mental problems with their self acceptance.

It' s one thing to have a cause and something you believe in. It's a whole other thing to let it be so all-consuming to the point where you talk about it constantly and sound like a crazy person.

SELF ACCEPTANCE. God made you the way you are for a reason. Deal with it.

Can you find me a support group for my large but not overly large breasts? They get in the way but they're not so big that my back hurts...

Plus boys look at me funny.

Cynthia, some countries have average heights of less than 5'4" for women. Spain and Mexico, for instance, have an average height of 5'3". Japan's average height is 5'1" (some say it's 5'2" and some say it's 5'0"). In China, it's 5'2" (I thought it was taller than that.) In America, the average height for a Hispanic woman is, believe it or not, only 5'3".

Be thankful for your height.

So there's totally no actual .. FABRIC there.. that's just a dress of twine...

God knows what dresses the Miss Teen USA contestants would wear.

ADqtPiMel 07-26-2006 09:17 PM

That's not a dress - it's a mammogram. Poor boobies.

valkyrie 07-26-2006 09:47 PM

Holy crap. She looks like if she turned around, you'd see a big bunch of excess skin and body fat held together by, I don't know, the hand of Satan.

Canada's National Costume was of a Can Can dancer meets a Mardi Gras-esque butterfly!

Well, you Canadian ladies do have to go the extra mile to attract men, because that whole saying "eh?" every third word has got to be a huge turn-off. :p

We Canadian ladies also have fuzzy green antennae. That's how you can spot the Canadians from the American tourists visiting Canada.

I'm sure it's good because it's so big that it ensures that no one will stand too close to you in the elevator.
