Round One (Open House) - September 17, 2006
This first night of formal recruitment allows potential members to visit each sorority chapter, meet a lot of sorority women, and learn more information about each organization. What to wear: Panhellenic will provide you with a cute tee shirt. Pair it with jeans, khakis, jean skirts, etc. Round Two (Philanthropy Night) - September 18, 2006 On the second night of recruitment, potential members visit up to three sorority chapters, depending on a mutual selection process. This night focuses on a deeper look at the sororities, including the opportunity to participate in each sorority's philanthropy project. What to wear: This night is a little dressier than the first. Black pants, summer casual dresses, other business casual options are good. Round Three (Preference Night) - September 20, 2006 This last night of recruitment is the most serious and often the most memorable. Potential members will visit up to two chapters, depending on a mutual selection process. The sororities will show potential members even more about their sisterhood bonds. What to wear: This is the dressiest night of recruitment. A lot of women wear cocktail dresses or a dressy pants outfit. Bid Night - September 20, 2006 A few hours after Preference Night ends, potential members will receive bids from a sorority. This is a fun night where the sorority welcomes you into the chapter with games and other activities. Is round-robin what most schools call Round 1 where you visit all the sororities, or is it an intro type-thing. |
Round robin is more of an intro to the sororities at my school. All the organizations gather in a very large room with tables and flyers and PNMs are herded in and make their way around to everyone themselves. I guess it can be kinda like a round one because we can talk to the girls all night if we want to and show them our table and such. However, the next round is called Round 1 and since it is informal recruitment, PNMs decide which organizations they'd like to visit and go to the respective parties. :) Its kind of hit or miss though because they aren't mandated to see every sorority during informal recruitment...so if you don't hand your flyer to a girl, she's not going to know anything about our Round 1 (like when is it, where is it) or anything about your organization for that matter! :\
