I saw that show last week - seriously wanted to take him to get his hair cut and washed the entire time.

Over the last week or two I've been hearing Carrie Underwood's "Just a Dream" while in the car and everytime I hear it I just tear up!! I happened to see the video on YouTube and OMG! I am bawling!! I love her voice. I don't know how she can sing some of her songs and NOT cry! I'm a softie though. There are maybe 5 other songs that I can't listen to without crying and all of them are country songs.

I had not heard the song until you said something. That is gut wrenching. I have to say that she is by far the most succesful American idol winner of the bunch.

I can't even listen to "Jesus Take the Wheel" anymore. An old friend of mine was in hospice, dying of breast cancer which had metastasized to the brain. The hospice workers said that she had less than 24 hours. One of the things that hospice often recommends is that you play the person's favorite music because it's said that hearing is the last sense to go. So her caregiver put on the first Carrie Underwood CD and the first time she sang the chorus "Jesus Take the Wheel", my friend passed away. Absolutely can't ever listen to that song again.

This may have been posted somewhere, but it was news to me when I was sent the link -- Jennifer Hudson is engaged to a guy from "I Love New York"???? http://www.people.com/people/article...s-topheadlines

I've seen the first couple of episodes - it's not bad. They've been able to keep the over-acting to a minimum, which surprised me.

Although I'm a fan of Carrie's, I'd have to give the most successful title to Kelly Clarkson. No question about it. But I'm just saying.... :)

We can have a double wedding. Rihanna be damned, I'm determined to be Mrs. Chris Breezy.

als463 09-24-2008 08:23 AM

Does anyone else find it disturbing that Jennifer Hudson is engaged to "Punk" from "I Love New York" considering she is so talented and could have just about anyone? Granted, he is a Harvard educated Lawyer but, he's had relations with New York. Ugh!

RU OX Alum 09-26-2008 02:16 PM

so, the new Franz Ferdinand album is now scheduled for January '09. I thought it would be next month.

More waiting then

christiangirl 09-30-2008 01:25 AM

I heart this Leona Lewis CD. I should've bought this forever ago! But it's one of those 'make you cry' albums.

I actually think those new Brooke Shields commercials for Volkswagen are pretty funny.

I made the mistake of watching TLC's Toddlers and Tiaras last night and this morning I'm having really bad images of that 7 year old and her fake teeth stuck in my head.

What mother sends her 4 year old to the tanning booth to get sprayed all by her self? Lexi's mom did! That kid screamed louder than Ross Geller did on Friends.

I saw that. You could tell they were totally freaked out by it, and I was a tad upset that mom didn't do anything about it, like say "oh it's ok we don't have to do the taning if you're afraid of it." Nope.

Sigh, but I babysat for a 6 year old beauty queen for 2 whole summers, and nothing those parents make theiir kids go through really surprises me--and they're kids so it's not like they have alot of choice in the matter.

KSUViolet06 10-09-2008 10:24 PM

I'm watching True Life: I'm a Single Parent right now.

There's a guy on the show, who is raising twins, triplets, and a 10 year old by himself (yep, that's 6 kids). He's 25. His ex-wife gave him custody of the kids in their divorice because she couldn't deal (including the 10 year old who is his stepson). Wow.

Ugh I know, ALL those little girls and their "flippers" freaked me out!

I was sooo rooting for Brionna and Aja (the two girls from Jackson, MS) to win! lol. They were adorable.

I will say that the first time I did that Mystic tan, I freaked out as well! lol. I didn't cry, but it scared the bejeezus outta me. So I know where Lexi is coming from. I don't think her mom expected it to be that way.

nikki1920 10-10-2008 03:27 PM

Did anyone watch Life in Mars last night? Thoughts?

Jennifer Hudson's Mother and Brother found shot dead

http://www.tmz.com/2008/10/24/jennif...er-found-dead/

Witnesses say that her nephew may have been taken from the scene. An APB has been issued for the SUV.

How sad, especially since she just got engaged and all. :(

Oh my goodness. That's terrible!

ETA: According to the Yahoo article, her father passed away when she was a teenager. I can't imagine losing both my parents so young.

christiangirl 10-24-2008 08:54 PM

How awful! Poor Jennifer. :(

nittanyalum 10-25-2008 10:04 PM

That's such a heartbreaking situation -- and isn't her sister begging for her son's return right now? They have the shooter in custody, don't they? I hope they get out of him where the little boy is. Many prayers and good thoughts going their way...

Me too - I can't put my finger on it, but they're right up there with the Geico caveman commercials (which I also think are genius).

nittanyalum 11-20-2008 10:58 AM

My brother got a "Best of the Best" DVD of The Electric Company for my nephew -- I forgot who was in that show - I remember Rita Moreno, but I forgot about Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman. THE BEST is Morgan Freeman singing "Easy reader, that's my name, UHH UHH UHHH" all groovy-like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_PuAqRQLKA

It's so funny to see it again, it is soooooooooooooo 70s.

PeppyGPhiB 11-21-2008 08:23 PM

Did anyone watch Law & Order: SVU this week? It was especially creepy and disturbing...
