You know it's out there, but you want to stick your head in the sand and conveniently ignore it. And even if I did bring it, you would have something to complain about that as well just for the sake of such. I refuse to fall into one of your traps where at the end of the day, my efforts would be a waste of time for the sake of pleasing you. |

My ancestors didn't die for me to just be content with my lot in life. My Founders didn't march, for me to be content with my lot in life. My teachers didn't teach, my preachers didn't preach, and my parents didn't raise me to be content with my lot in life. Maybe your parents raised you to be content with the status quo, because they didn't know any better. And that's fine. But don't try to stop me from doing what I do. |

I don't know it's out there, which is why I asked for proof. If I was ignoring it, I wouldn't ask for the proof. Quit trying to predict my actions. I don't set traps. What you are seeing is what you get. If the proof is there, then bring it. If it's not, then just say that you have no proof. It's that simple. |
I nominate RainMan for that keyboard courage award!
Yes i know thats not this thread but this is such a prime example i feel i wouldnt be doing my job if i didnt bring light to this right on the spot. I dont think you could stand face to face with anyone and truly give the comments you are right now. Your ignorance and obvious lack of respect for my race makes me so angry i cant put it into words. Rather than show my enormous 4 letter word combination insults, i'll leave you with something my grandmother told me when i first found out who and what racists are.... Pay them no mind. Speak your mind, but pay them no mind. A closed mouth dont get fed. You take every opportunity to let them know what they did was wrong otherwise they will think they are right and continue to do it. One they day will learn... but it may just be too late for them. |
Another one of THOSE discussions

I can see that this is one of those discussions where we aren't seeking to come to an understanding, but to see who can yell the loudest. B_Q, your objectives in discussing your points are totally different from mine. Thus, we will never come to a mutual agreement. So with that, I'll just say "Bye, Boom_Quack." |

Every discussion that I participate in is not a meeting of the minds, or a chance for me to understand someone. Some of my posts are just to make sure that I can counteract some of the BS. That's the purpose of all my posts to you. |

IMHO that is probably the reason why so many potentially thought-provoking discussions degenerate into a juvenile and meaningless pissing match of name calling and flame throwing and as a result the threads involved get locked or deleted. My resolution in 2006 (in case you haven't noticed) is to close out and walk away from discussions from those who could possibly be looking to start such silly insult and flame wars from those that simply do not agree with their viewpoints. That's my piece. Moving on... |

Good talking to you. Please call again. *RM prints out B_Qs post, folds the piece of paper in half and tosses it into the wastebasket* |
Rainman, I'm sorry but you are out of line. You and AlphaFrog are VERY insulting in assuming that because some of us will acknowledge that racism still exist, that means that we are somehow encouraging "poor me, its da white man" mentality among Af Am. How ludicrous! Acknowledgement does not equal "enabling". Even though we (all people) may hear the truth, it doesn't mean we'll do a thing with it. :o Hence, where the problem lies and continues to lie.......
|
Wow gone for a minute now I'm back at the jump-off
@Alpha Frog First...Autumn's poem is a young black girl's perspective of her environment, inspired by a television show on Darwinism (ABC NEWS). Let's not twist this young girl's poetic creativity into something that was not intended... I notice that whenever people (specifically Republicans and some white people) are hit with something that resembles truth they get real antsy and set out to shut the messenger up and down. For example, in NYC a muslim chaplin of the Corrections Department said some things which our Mayor felt qualified him to be suspended. He made statement about the Jews and our government. Our Mayor, who is a Jew didn't like it and since economic power is political power was able to get this man suspended from his job regardles of the FIRST AMENDMENT. It seems as if SOME of the white parents at Autumn's school caught the same plague... Second...I'm not sure if I understood your enabling point. Just because I and maybe many on this MB and elsewhere maybe college educated or a professional does not imply that we started on the same level as those who do not. You are assuming that if one black person could overcome an obstacle then all can...That's impractical and does not apply in regular human relations.. Why would you assume that for us?...I will slightly concede to the point that some people are lazy and lack ambition and will use any excuse to take blame away from themselves HOWEVER that character trait is not unique to black folks - it applies EVERYONE. So I am not making excuses for those who don't do what I do...maybe they just can't...maybe they did not have the opportunities I had growing up...shoot maybe they are not as strong as I am. Have you ever heard of a marathon where all the participants finished at the same time? Third...You are only tired of hearing messages like Autumn's because you were never listening!!! Try it for a change and step outside yourself and get a different point of view. We (black folks) have been stepping outside ourselves for so long that WE forget LIKE RAIN MAIN forgot that ALL IS NOT GOOD IN THE WORLD... @Rain Man.... *BLANK STARE* and SMH |

The root cause of our problem(s) is SIN. Work to eradicate that using God's love and in effect you will help eradicate racism. Racism is merely a symptom of the sin nature of the human race. That's my take on it. |

I frankly couldn't care less about you being offended. See for too long Blacks have tip toed around whites trying to spare their precious feelings. If only we could put the past behind us everything would be oh so paradise, yeah right. See for some reason the past just keeps reappearing in the present. Why are Blacks in Louisiana still not placed in homes yet? Why are all of those new homes just sitting and now our government is talking about selling them to other government agencies. How can our government and white people in particular dare to call someone a terrorist? I mean how many of our people have been killed, raped, tortured, etc. Terrorist? Let's see... capturing people like animals, swinging them up a tree, setting them on fire and then selling the body parts. That's real humane right? Oh and this was not only done in America but around the world. Oh how soon we forget. As far as the rape victim - the reason why we assumed she was white is because we keep seeing the same thing over and over and over and over again. Because we still live in a racist and unequal country. Oh and let's not forget all of our opportunites. Let me educate you on the difference. See for one thing no one gave us anything. Any opportunity we have our people earned. Our people died for that opportunity. Sorry to inform you but contrary to your history books white people stole and killed to get to the top. That's where the racism really stems from. See if you attain something by evil and wicked means you're always scared someone is going to take it from you. Or better yet you're afraid someone else is more evil than you. And you're right to be afraid because it's not a matter of if , it's a matter of who and when. If opportunity alone assured success then every white person in America should be so-called successful. Who has more opportunites than them? I am mixed with both Native American and Black lineage and that nonsense that you're talking really is falling on deaf ears over here. My grandmother who is Cherokee clearly recalls picking cotton, cleaning white people's homes, cooking their food and having to enter through the back door. Oh yeah and having to leave her shoes on the back porch so she wouldn't dirty the floors that SHE cleaned. Oh I can't leave out the part about some other black women who had to nurse white babies. Oh yeah let me not forget her brother who was killed by a white man because a white woman was looking at him. (Mind you she was looking at him, he wasn't looking at her.) This man commented to her husband if I were you I'd shoot the nigger. Well since you won't I will. And he did just that. He shot him in the throat and since he was black (although he actually was Cherokee not black) he could not get medical attention so he died in my grandmother's arms. By the way that left his wife with out a husband and their children without a father. Tell them it's in the past. So when you talk about dragging up the past you are the one who is offensive. This is our blood, our family and we take it very seriously. It's not our past. We live with it every day. What if my grandmother had the opportunities that I have today. Or better yet the opportunities that white women during her youth had? It always amazes me when people talk about blacks using the 'race card' and how we use it for convenience and so forth and so on. You see we always have to apologize and explain and justify and all of that BS yet whites are never called on their foulness. Enough already. So it's your right to feel offended and it's certainly your right to be up in arms. But please don't expect to be pacified. And while we're on the topic of the past I guess all of the history books need to be thrown out because all of it happened in the past. But for some reason white history is glorified although the majority of it is a lie. How about reparations? Since the topic of excuses comes up, (the excuse why our government can't pay up) if whites had to give back all that they stole that would leave them with...let's see...NOTHING. You see I will NEVER forget what my people sacrificed so that I could be here today to utilize these 'opportunities' afforded me. I used to think that some white people were just ignorant but I've learned that there is a such thing as selective ignorance, meaning pretending to be ignorant works in their favor. As long as this person pretends to be ignorant they are not held accountable for their actions. It's a mind game. What white person is truly unaware that the opportunities they enjoy came at the price of our ancestors. None. See your card has been pulled. You don't lie unless you are aware of the truth. You lie to cover up the truth. You say you know there are problems. You have no idea. And any black person that claims that everything is a-ok is deceiving himself. How can you combat a problem if you don't even know what the problem is? As a matter of fact you're really not trying to know what the problem is. When you start talking about you like to debate that tells me all that I need to know. There's nothing to debate & please don't insult our intelligence to try to convince us that this young lady is racist. It's a shame when a 7 year old has more wisdom and courage than some adults. This 7 year old exposed the truth and that's why there is controversy. The controversy is that they want her to shut up because she exposed lies. If all blacks just sat back and twiddled their thumbs we'd still be picking cotton. The TRUTH will set you free..... P.S. I'm with the Pony and Scholarship fund! |
