MADE HOTEL RESERVATION!!

AGDLynn 02-16-2006 10:40 PM

Okay so I'm trying to make air travel arrangements. I don't have a problem getting to the ATL airport on the 21st.

The problem is trying to stay until the optional workshops are over in case any of us want to go them, try to make it back to whatever airport we came in at and then back home.

The time zone difference really is a pain when heading east! Was planning on going into work on the 26th but I might just be getting home, lol.:p

AGDee 02-17-2006 01:17 AM

Ditto. I have brought up the issue of the shuttle stopping at 1 pm and having our workshops go until 1 pm. They are going to look into more shuttles later. There is only one flight that I can get that gets me back home the same day I leave (sorta, kinda, I get back at 1 or 2 am), if I leave at 4:46. There aren't a lot of flights out of that airport! I really suggest planning on making the Thursday workshops instead of the Sunday ones, if you're west of the Mississippi.

winnieb 02-17-2006 10:25 AM

I booked my flight last week and will be flying in on Wednesday night and flying out at 9am on Sunday. I had a hard time getting out and getting home on Sunday too. The price between the 9am and the noon flight jumped up a couple of hundred dollars. And any later than a noon flight I was looking at having an overnight layover in Dallas and not arriving at home until Monday afternoon. Getting out of Palm Springs is CRAZY-- book NOW!!!!

That's why I refuse to fly into PSP. I'm pretty familiar with the flight frequency in and out of PSP and I don't wanna even bother.

We're flying in a day early, staying in Pasadena, and driving the 3-4 hours to Indian Wells. If we take turns driving, it should be fun!

AGDLynn 02-17-2006 09:02 PM

Even with using LAX or the other "nearby" airports, there doesn't seem to be alot of flights heading east.:p

It would be nice if they could so some of the more useful workshops on Thurs and Sun...not sure if they already are planning too, lol

Maybe one of us could videotape the ones others can't make, lol.

They did put some of the handouts on the web after the last Convention.

My flight's booked and I'm confirmed!

Getting in a day early at 5AM then meeting up with Maria, Nicole, and Marissa and then road tripping on 6/22. We plan on hitting up with outlets on our way to Indian Wells!

That's a good price because I paid $401 (including tax) HNL-LAX. Because I'm flying in a day early and staying a few days after I wasn't included in the Delta Sigma/Hawaii contingent.

I fly out on the 20th, arrive first thing the 21st...will pick up the rental while I wait for Maria, Nicole, and Marissa -- and then off to Pasadena for the night. We'll be taking turns driving on the 22nd!

AGDLynn 02-21-2006 07:45 PM

:D :D :D :D :D ;)

Now if only the others would get theirs finalized I'd feel a lot better! :D

OTW-Tshirts

Since Conv't 2006 is so close, I guess you all aren't doing tshirts... I was hoping for a new one! My surfer and hula squirrels are looking a little shabby. Let me know!

LOL, no, not this year...sorry. But if hawaiiagd and her biz partners want a new project you'll be the first to know! I'm not too sure how many collegians are attending, and usually the $$$ we make is used to send them on "scholarship". I think this time around we'll have more alumnae attending.

I'll try to find out if the collegians will be placing another order soon, and I'll let you know what I find out!

Got the neato Convention e-Newsletter just now! I love the descriptions of the workshops...and I'm interested in attending one of the first ones at 10am. I wonder if the girls are gonna be willing to wake up early? :p

AGDLynn 02-23-2006 10:45 PM

I did a search and found out that normally the rooms are $135-$175 a night per the Marriott website

yea $99:cool:

Seriously, we get great deals from the Marriott, and I'm so glad that IHQ's had a great relationship with them. As far as accomodations go, they've been nothing but top rate. I remember one night in Chicago averaged over $200 for one night and we scored back then, too! I especially enjoyed my Concierge Level super room overlooking the river.

I hope IHQ continues to use the Marriott for future conventions.

The food...on the other hand...could use some work. LOL ;)

Hello friends - best wishes for a great Convention! We use Marriott quite a bit too. I think they are quite "Greek friendly."

Alice Sheets Marriott (wife of J. Willard) and both of their daughters-in-law (wives of J.W., Jr. & Richard) were all Chi Omega initiates at University of Utah.

Here's Alice's story -- quite a woman.

If it's anything like when Maria, Marissa and I went to Chicago, I'll probably have already worked out and showered by that time with Maria and Marissa like groaning in my direction.

What time do you arrive at LAX on the 21st?

What time do you think you'll leave the hotel on the 25th to get to LAX for your 4 pm flight?

How many of you are in one rental car already?

(wondering if there could be room for me... )

GtownGirl98 02-24-2006 12:18 PM

not to jump ahead of this year... but since I won't be going :( ... where do you think the next one will be? I think it should be in Louisville or Lexington next!!!! Go see the horses and think about all the bourbon tours we could go on!

My vote is for the Boston Marriott Copley since it's, you know, within walking distance from my condo!

winnieb 02-24-2006 12:40 PM

I think we should do the Delta Sigma girls a favor and not make them travel so far next time..... :D I vote for the next convention in Hawaii!!! (i know there would be NO ONE at any of the business meetings!)

We have the Waikiki Beach Marriott fronting the water in Waikiki and we also have the Ihilani Resort (also a Marriott) on the west side of the island, that's where the Pro Bowlers stay. I'm SURE we could pull it off!

I was looking at the list of past Conventions and it seems like we've been everywhere!

Side note..hey Wen, will Cari and Lori be at this Convention as well?

Wow! We didn't even know she was pregnant! Give her a big hug for me! Yay for her legacy!

I still have that 'photo' we took in y'all hotel room in Chicago. Remember THAT photo? LOL

DCDisney 02-24-2006 06:53 PM

San Antonio !!!!

What about San Antonio ????? Chi Omega had their last convention there. I am completely jealous ! What a great city to visit. So many things to do, and all within walking distance. They have an incredibly huge convention center and tons of hotels next to it. The Riverwalk area is great. Other than being pretty darn hot in the summer time (as if the desert will be cool ????), I don't see a down side to San Antonio !!!

So who all is actually going?

I know for sure it's myself, greeklawgirl, squirrely_girl, mu_agd, AGDee, agdlynn, winnieb, and agd4rie.

Am I missing anyone else? Cynthia, are you going this year?

AGDLynn 02-24-2006 11:02 PM

Dee, our flight is SUPPOSED TO;) get to LAX about 11:30 am on Wed.

My car is SUPPOSED TO;) fit 5 people and luggage but right now there are 4 of us. I think that the 2 collegiates will have enough stuff for that 5th person:(

MAILED IN MY CONF REGISTRATION TODAY!!

I already had a very cute stamp on the envelope (they are doing cartoons, so I used 39 cents Maisie with a crown and wand!). I had to stick in some papers b/c the inactive Alum Chapter is paying for me:D . When I went to have it weighed, it was about 30cents not enough. All I had was a $1 stamp so I put it on, lol. Saved me a trip to the PO.

It's great to be able to use alum. chapter funds to pay for the CA to go to Convention or TLC. It pays for the plane trip to LAX but not the rental car from LA to PS, lol. Oh well.. I'll worry about that tomorrow! ;)

BTW, I called the hotel to get an approx. price including tax.

1 night = $108.32 approx.

Alrighty! The more I thought about it, though the price is more attractive to fly into LAX, the logistics of getting a flight on Sunday at a time that is reasonable is a problem anyway. I'm going to end up flying into PSP. If I have to take a taxi to the airport after the 1 pm workshops, I'm sure there will be others to split that fee with!

My luggage will probably be enough for two also. After my nightmare train experience to Chicago though, I will pack more lightly. I had actual bruises from my garment bag strap...

AGDLynn 02-25-2006 01:16 PM

Something tells me that 1 shuttle leaving at 1 pm won't be enought, lol.;)

Dee..what about announcing at IRD and/or sending out a PDC/AC/CHAPTERS emai that y'all should try to book flights/cars together?

VandalSquirrel 02-25-2006 10:07 PM

We got the room and flight taken care of, the only thing left is sending in the registration. I'm the only person in our group not attending in an "official" capacity, so I'm sending it in myself.

Is anyone else looking into a spa package?

I was looking at the spa packages the other day. Very very tempting, I must say.
