I wasn't sure where to post this, but I wanted to let you all know that one of your members, Dr. Sharon Whitaker was a guest speaker at Tri Sigma's 2007 National Convention last week in Nashville, TN.

She spoke about leadership and how sororities produce female leaders that the world needs. Just wanted to let you ladies know that she was absolutely dynamic!

International President Impacts Media in New Orleans

Leadership Conference attracts media interest

International President Barbara A. McKinzie has made the media rounds while in New Orleans by appearing on shows on the local ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates. She also appeared as a guest on several radio programs.

On WNOL TV 38, McKinzie appeared on the show The 411. Host Glynn Boyd asked her about the purpose of AKA's visit, the significance behind AKA's new economic direction, the meaning of E S P and the Sorority's long history of service.

Click here to view video of the full interview. [Click on The 411 link and scroll to Segment 3 of the 7/22/07 broadcast.]

That was a great interview! Thanks ChanelLover for posting it.

Go ahead Madame President! ;)

AKA_Monet 07-24-2007 02:47 AM

^^^Overall, I liked the interview. Madame President gave a wonderful interview. And I really developed a distaste for the host, he seemed absolutely clueless about the D9 and attempted to instigate an unnecessary rivalry. Of course Madame President tried very hard to avoid temptation and was resplendent.

Little32 07-24-2007 10:17 AM

Yes, he did seem clueless, and he also seemed not to be listening to the responses that Soror McKinzie gave to his questions. But she was good.

He's (Glenn Boyd) not too clueless. Greeklife was at his alma mater. His wife is a member of DST. Maybe he asked questions the producers gave him. I haven't watched the clip.

Ahhhhhhh so thats why he mentioned dst.....he's a little clueless though....didn't he refer to dst as our "sister chapter"? Soror McKinzie spinned it nicely though.

Excerpts from IP BAM Communication: Jena Six

"Alpha Kappa Alpha is very concerned about the miscarriage of justice being carried out in Jena , Louisiana against six African American males. We agree that the events that culminated in the arrest of these young men appear to be racist-inspired. In this day and age, this is unacceptable. One of the young men -- Marcus Jones -- has already been convicted by an all-white jury of two felonies and faces a lengthy jail sentence. The others are awaiting their day in the court and the outlook for a fair trial is unlikely. This represents a gloomy future for these young men, who range in age from 15-18.
< BR>One of our platforms is The Black Male initiative. Speaking out against their arrest parallels the objectives of this thrust......

Sorors, I'm sure you've read the rest. :D ;)

I am still pouting about the fact that I can't be in DC on Founder's Day... :( There's no way I can get the day off, especially when I'm going to have to take off for the Regional Conference in March...

But I will attend my cluster's founder's day, which will be on the 26!

I so so glad that I finally got my pearls! :D
