I havent used that yet but I've thought about it! I do however really like the gossamer lip gloss. It's pearly white in the tube but it goes on clear and shiny on the lips! It is also great over other colors of lip gloss and lip sticks.

Wish I had it! Gossamer is fun but pink gossamer plus that amazing brush must be heaven.

Yay! I think I'm going to try it out. I really wanted a kabuki retractable to carry on the go and since it comes with the set, I may just have to try it out!

ThetaPrincess - thanks for the tip on gossamer lip gloss. I will totally try it :)

That's a good deal, BM rarely ever goes on sale! Unfortch I just ordered the tinted mineral veil from Nordies b/c I had a gift card. I'm curious how it's going to look. Sometimes MV looks a little pale on me so we shall see.

skylark 10-09-2007 07:27 PM

I like the tinted, but I have heard from some that they think it makes your face look orangeish. I don't have that problem with it -- I think it maintains the foundation color underneath better.

OleMissGlitter 10-10-2007 03:07 PM

Thanks Ladies I'm going to a couple of new eye shades next week!

I like the tinted mineral veil a lot and so does my husband (atleast on me!). If you use too much it will make your skin look orange. I dont use a lot so even on my fair skin it looks good. I'm not sure about how it may look on those that are more fair than me though.

I've visiting San Fran next week to see a relative... coincidently the Mother Ship of Bare Minerals and I will most definitely be stopping by one of their shops.
:D

I hoping they have the Rose Gossamer duo because it's on my list. While I'm there I may experiment with eye colors....

Someone stop me... I'm out of control :p

I've only seen Rose Gossamer sold two place, Sephora.com and the Bare Escentuals boutiques. I'm sure they will have it :) They do make overs and things there too like other make up counters. If you want you can call the store(you can find contact info. for their stores online) and set up an appointment to try before you buy :)

CatStarESP4 10-16-2007 02:51 AM

I used to wear makeup a lot in high school. I stopped wearing it in college because at the end of the day, it looked caked on. I avoided makeup for most of my twenties. When I went on job interviews, except for a few times, I wore no makeup.

Last year, I gave Bare Minerals a try and fell in love with it. Bare Minerals made makeup fun again for me!

texas*princess 10-24-2007 07:57 PM

I know somewhere, someone must be thinking, "why does she keep bumping the BARE MINERALS THREAD!!!" but I wanted to share my thoughts on a few of the products I hadn't previously tried before.

I went to one of their boutiques in San Fran and while my mom was getting made over, I was browsing the items and decided to buy a couple things while I was there.

I didn't get the Rose Gossamer Duo, but I did get the Precious Diamonds set... it's the same thing basically except instead of a rosey gossamer, it has more of a bronze shimmer to it, and it comes with one of those awesome retractable Kabuki brushes :D I really like it b/c it goes great with my skin tone ... and the brush is pretty awesome too!

I also got the Prep Set, which has trial sizes of the BareVitamins, Prime Time and Eye Rever-Upper. I am SO glad I tried it because I am so in love! While the Eye Rever-Upper doesn't work miracles, I noticed my eye area is smoother and brighter and I don't have to conceal my darkish circles in the corners at the bottom of my eye as much as I did before. I haven't seen a miracle difference from the BareVitamins yet, but it's only been a couple of days... and the Prime Time is freakin' awesome! My makeup stays much more intact for a longer period of time than it did before. So I wll for sure be replenishing my Prime Time and Eye Rever-Upper when the time comes. The jury is still out on the BareVitamins.

And this is random, but I FINALLY figured out how to lift the sifter from the jars to mix shades! I'm so excited! haha

Up until yesterday I was mixing the hard way.

Since I love makeup, I actually look to see if and when it has been bumped!

Normally I would have to go to Vero Beach (30 minutes south of where I live) or either to Florida Mall in Orlando to purchase BE. Well, how about a new spa opened up just 5 minutes from my job that sells BE!!! Guess who's happy?? I still ended up going to Orlando Saturday, so I purchased a handy buki brush and warm radiance (which I lovelovelove!) and Urban Decay Primer Potion for eyes. Have yet to use the UDPP, but I got it based on quite a few recommendations.

Xylochick216 10-24-2007 10:51 PM

I've been using BE for a few weeks and I love it. It makes my skin look awesome. I also have the basic eye kit, and that makes my eyes look wonderful. I think I need to try more products in the line. It's addicting...

APhi Sailorgirl 10-30-2007 11:05 AM

Ok, what is the best way to take your BE on travel? I am going on a cruise in a couple weeks and don't want to end up with all the makeup above the sifter.

Thankfully no flying to get the port, we're leaving out of Baltimore.

MSKKG 10-30-2007 11:14 AM

I'd like to know the answer to that question as well because what you described is exactly what happens.

OtterXO 10-30-2007 11:18 AM

I've found that it's pretty easy to get it back below the sifter. Just kind of shake it horizontally for a minute or so and it goes back in as easily as it came out.

texas*princess 10-30-2007 12:51 PM

It is pretty easy to get the makeup back below the sifter if you shake it or pull the sifter up and dump the excess into the jar.

If you don't want to mess with that though, I put a couple of the cotton pads that are normally used for my toner or nail polish remover above the sifter and close the lid. If you put around 2 in the bigger jars (like the foundation and mineral veil, it works pretty well because there isn't any free room for anything to jiggle. I think 1 would work for the smaller jars like glee/warmth.

APhi Sailorgirl 10-30-2007 01:07 PM

Thank you! I can't believe I didn't think of cotton balls.

AOIIalum 10-30-2007 03:47 PM

I don't remember where I got this tip, but don't pull the whole seal off a new jar when you get it. Use your tweezers or something to poke holes through the seal. I poke out 1-2 for the smaller jars and 3-4 for larger, although I only have 3 poked out in my foundation jar. I don't bother taping or using a cotton pad when traveling, but maybe that's just me. You can carry on your BE, just not your glosses or mascara.

FYI--the new A/D kit for this year is available on QVC, # A17187 for $44.98. I just got mine and can't wait to play! It includes a blush sized MV and Gold Gossamer, eye shadow sizes of Gold Mine liner shadow, Riches blush, Golden Earth glimmer, Gilded Taupe glimpse, Truffle Lipstick (the new formulation stuff) and 3 new brushes (the new full flawless face brush, heavenly liner blending brush and eye shaping brush). The brushes themselves pretty much pay for the kit, so if you're looking to build your BE stash I highly recommend the A/D kits.

MSKKG 10-30-2007 04:34 PM

Shaking the jar doesn't work for me; in fact, more comes up from the bottom! I just haven't wanted to take the sifter off to dump the excess back into the jar, but that's an option. The cotton ball idea is a good one as well as not pulling the seal off all the way. Thanks to everyone!

Use that blue painter's tape, comes off every time!

LPIDelta 11-10-2007 09:32 AM

The kit that AOIIAlum spoke about is the Today's Special Value (November 10) at QVC. Its on easy pay too, which allows you to make the payments monthly at no additional charge. They are still available, but as the day goes on will likely sell out. Even if you have to waitlist, it looks like a good deal.

As she mentioned, you can get one kit or you can sign up for Auto Delivery and you will receive three more kits over the next year.

Ladies, if you are truly hooked on BE, you'll get a kick out of this.

Yesterday, two co-workers and I went out to lunch. One of the co-workers and I had talked makeup before, and I found out she wears Sheer Cover. So I had been telling her that I was gonna get her converted over to BE.

So after lunch, we go to this new spa that's 5 minutes from work because I told her that they sell BE. Well, the young lady that was helping us was applying the BE (incorrectly, but I digress) and my co-worker INSTANTLY fell in love! This girl ends up getting the starter kit and one of the eye kits and lip liner and something else to the tune of $165.00.

(btw. . . as soon as she got home, she called Sheer Cover and canceled her A/D. We calculated that she was spending approximately $30/mo. on this, and not only did she love BE, but we told her that her costs would be cut considerably because she didn't have to use a lot of BE and it was cheaper.)

So I called her this afternoon to let her know that her timing was perfect for the switchover, because on QVC, BE was on. Why did she already know this? WHY HAD SHE ORDERED MORE BE BEFORE I CALLED HER????

I think I've created a monster. . .

texas*princess 11-11-2007 12:37 AM

Has anyone tried BE's PrimeTime Eyelid Primer?

Loved the story about the woman you converted to BE, btb!

I understand that it works pretty well. I just purchased the urban decay primer about 3 weeks ago.

And thanks! I can't wait to talk with her again and see the difference in her face on Tuesday.

AOIIalum 11-11-2007 10:47 AM

t*p, I haven't tried the primer because I just bought UDPP (urban decay primer potion) a week ago. LOVE IT, got a bunch of freebies through Sephora and it's about a buck cheaper.

texas*princess 11-11-2007 12:36 PM

Thanks for the replies... I may try UDPP first and see how that goes.

So far, I'm only using BE for my foundation/ cheek color.

I'm thinking about expanding my "collection" (haha)

If anyone has any feedback on any of these, please let me know:

*Multi-Tasking Minerals -- It seems to be marketed as a concealer... but I thought you could use the foundation as a concealer? Are these ones just better at concealing?

* Featherlight Mineral Veil - I'm kinda bummed I just bought 2 of the regular Mineral Veil at ULTA a few weeks ago because this looks like it could be fun. Has anyone noticed a big difference between the Featherlight and regular?

* Eye shadows -- what is the best way to get started? Would one of the kits be the easiest? Are most of the kits full size shadows?

And just as an FYI - it looks like BE will be back on QVC on Dec. 6th!

Yes, and yes. I own Bisque, Summer Bisque and Well Rested. I love Well Rested, as I have dark eyelids and deal with circles from time to time and it does a great job. I've also used WR to conceal redness on my face and it's great. On days I don't have a lot of time or my skin looks really good, I conceal if needed with my foundation.

The Feather Light has a bit of a sheen, not quite a sparkle like a Gossamer, but just a sheer glow. I prefer Clear Radiance to get that effect over the FL myself. I did mix an eyeshadow sized FLMV into my bucket of Tinted MV to use it up and like that effect.

Kits, kits, kits! I just ordered the Guilty Pleasures (9 total, but they are smaller than the normal shadow pots) and the Liner Quad IV (this is in the iQuad format, a little messy but a great way to try out colors. I highly recommend the following (I have highlighted cocoa/caramel hair, light/medium skin tone and dark brown eyes, if that helps any). I think all of the items in these kits are full sized.

Blendable Eye Camouflage
Pure Moxie kit (Great value!)
Get Started Eyes

I have all of those kits except Guilty Pleasures. I did however purchase the Teamed Up Earth Tones eyeshadow kit when i was at Sephora last weekend and I love it! I go back and forth between that set and my shimmer cubes from the body shop every other day :)

Xylochick216 11-12-2007 10:54 PM

I love the Get Started Eye Kit. The colors are neutral, but they make my eyes really pop. I love them.

I got the Heavenly Face Brush the other day in a kit. It's SO much nicer than the All-Over Face Brush. I think I might need to order another one in case I lose the first one!

texas*princess 11-25-2007 07:26 PM

I got the Luminous Skin Collection and the Soft Focus Face Brush. Love love love it!

I am also loving the Well-Rested.

One thing I'm not diggin' is the BE regular compact. A day or so in my purse and the minerals all come on the top of the sifter and when I open the clear cover, a cloud of mineral dust gets in the air and it looks like a small explosion just came out of my compact. I'm don't even overfill the darn thing so I'm not sure why it does that. I'm thinking of ditching the compact ...

AOIIalum 11-25-2007 07:47 PM

t*p, I love the Soft Focus face brush. I use it for almost everything. It's great on those days when you only have time for a quick buff of foundation and a radiance or all over face color. Soft enough to sweep over eyelids and gives a great wash of color on the face.

I had a similar experience when I went to open it after it had been jostled in my purse all day. I inhaled a cloud of mineral dust, sneezed and managed to send the compact flying. It died a quiet death :)

it's good to know i'm not alone in this one... 'cause it drives me nuts :p

AOIIAlum & ThetaPrincess --- YAY for the soft focus brush.

Someone needs to keep me AWAY from the BE boutique here... 'cause they make me buy stuff I didn't intend on buying but I still end up loving it :)

They are good at doing that to me too! If you are going there "often" make sure you get their little coupon from the store and have them stamp it each time you are there. After so many purchases you get like a 20% discount or something free I think (my purse is in the other room so i cant look to be sure sorry).

Fleur de Lis 12-26-2007 02:28 PM

I have been wearing BM for a little over a month and I am hooked. I originally thought I would use it for a week or so then use my old liquid foundation to compare, but I can't bear the thought of wearing it again! I have very dry skin, so I have to be sure I am exfoliated and moisturized beforehand or it will look cake-y. But I work in retail and don't really have time to reapply or worry about how I'm looking, so I love that it stays put all day, and my skin is definitely healthier-looking. I'm thinking of buying the Beyond The Basics Kit and adding to my collection. It's a little pricey but lasts forever!!
