It may be on there by tomorrow or later today, Sunday.

After the reveal of certain things on the show last night, the Twitter-verse was spoiler-bomb headquarters last night; so stay off of Twitter.

Tulip86 11-02-2014 10:59 AM

It's on Delishows if you want to watch it online

Phigirl04 11-02-2014 02:18 PM

OMG! I seriously don't think I can wait for the next episode.

I also love Danny and Clara's relationship and want more of it.

ColdInCanada11 11-02-2014 03:10 PM

I want to get into Doctor Who- any recommendations on where to start?? I have only sen the Mummy on a Train episode (I think that's only a few weeks old?)!

I avoided twitter and tumblr!

So the modern era is on its eight season now and it's fourth incarnation of the doctor, but the number order is like so:

Ninth Doctor (Shortest hair, leather jacket)
Tenth Doctor (Younger, sneakers, baggy suit)
Eleventh Doctor (Youngest, bow tie)
Twelth Doctor (oldest, you already saw him)

My advice is that it doesn't matter where you start, as long as you start at the beginning of one of the Doctors' terms.

I prefer starting at the beginning of the Ninth Doctor though.

Phigirl04 11-02-2014 06:02 PM

The Ninth Doctor was my first, it's a little darker than 10 or 11 but I still love it. I know a lot of people that started with Ten and have never seen any of Eccleston's episodes but I think they're missing out.

Tulip86 11-02-2014 06:48 PM

I'd start at the first episodes of the reboot as well. AKA the first Netflix has to offer.

ColdInCanada11 11-02-2014 07:35 PM

Thanks, everyone! Upon research, it appears that Doctor 9 (Eccleston??) will be my starting point :)

But just so you know, in all of the various incarnations of this current show run, you have the immortal legacies of Doctors 1-8 (and The War Doctor) that will haunt certain plotlines throughout the series. This show first aired in 1963 and ran through the late 80s, one tv movie and now, this current series.

Watch some of the 4th Doctor's (Tom Baker) episodes sometime. You won't regret it.

Phigirl04 11-02-2014 09:36 PM

I'm planning on spending my holiday break watching original Who. So excited to see where it all started.

Some of Hartnell's and Troughton's episodes are lost due to the BBC erasing some of the tapes.

It's sad that it's not all there but I figure Netflix will be a good start. After the end of Matt Smith's reign as Doctor I became very interested in all of the back story.

ZetaPhi708.20 11-03-2014 10:17 AM

Netflix nor Hulu have ALL of the classic serials; but most are on DVD; but each serial runs at least 2-3 hours each. Back in the early days, the serials were broken up over several parts, running sometimes for weeks, if not months; in fact, the serial Trial of a Time Lord lasted the whole season.

Thought of this thread when I saw that Syracuse University is now offering a course based on the BBC series of Doctor Who. I've never seen this show but, apparently it's pretty popular.

Some of us have but we are not discussing it too much in heavy detail, due to the major REVEAL at the end.

AmoXO 11-04-2014 10:16 AM

Fair enough.

I hate to admit that I fell asleep halfway through it, but I did. I'm using my 3-week-old baby as the excuse.

ZetaPhi708.20 11-08-2014 05:57 PM

4 hours to go until part 2 of the season finale airs. Are you ready for DEATH IN HEAVEN?

Please, no spoilers after the show finishes airing.

Phigirl04 11-08-2014 07:52 PM

I'm really enjoying that BBC America is playing the whole season now. :) I'm catching a couple things in each episode I missed the first go around. Cannot wait!!

Sen's Revenge 11-08-2014 11:31 PM

OMG I had several breakdowns. I regret nothing.

ZetaPhi708.20 11-09-2014 09:26 PM

Just watched it a 2nd time. So many feels.......

More ??? than answers.

The Christmas special looks awesome.

Sen's Revenge 11-10-2014 05:52 AM

I refuse to believe that the people who died are really dead.

ZetaPhi708.20 11-10-2014 09:33 AM

If it is whom I think you are speaking of, I really hate The Master/Mistress now.

Phigirl04 11-10-2014 07:09 PM

So many questions and now the wait until the Christmas episode is on.

I cannot believe some of the characters we said goodbye to and some of the characters that made a "reappearance".

Right there with you.

I really love Capaldi in this role, although I think the season as a whole was not as strong as Moffat's other seasons.

I also want Jenna Coleman's hair. *Shallow*

bevinpiphi 11-10-2014 09:11 PM

I have been underwhelmed by this season.

With the whole episode, I'm almost wondering if The Doctor was able to slip one of the dream patch things on The Mistress....all of the deaths that happened just seem to be too sudden and mostly nonsensical.

Sen's Revenge 11-11-2014 07:42 AM

^^^ Good theory.

Phigirl04 11-11-2014 05:21 PM

I can only hope. I cannot imagine some of those people being gone for good.

AmoXO 11-22-2014 09:11 PM

Hopefully the Christmas special will clarify some of the stuff that went down. And reverse the deaths.

I'm positive The Master/Missy is just teleported somewhere, though. I mean, come on ... The Master! Necessary character, but man I miss John Simm.

Road trip to London? I'm starting a new savings account for traveling to this. It opens in 2020.

And a Star Trek sim ride?

Anyone have any smelling salts?

"The Greeks WHO Happen to be WHOvians Invade England 2020."

Think that would fit on a tee-shirt? LOL.

ZetaPhi708.20 12-28-2014 11:05 PM

Well, this year's Christmas special has aired, "Last Christmas"; a very unique premise but I would love to see a new companion enter the TARDIS; I like the teamwork aspect of the show, when they have enough companions.

Not a spoiler: it was all over the news that Jenna Coleman has signed on for all of season 9.

I watched some classic Tom Baker recently. That man was brilliant, and IMO, he's my fave Doctor, as he is the first Doctor I saw in action. His episodes were aired on various PBS stations in syndication in the late 80s and were edited to form one long show. 4 episodes minimum at about 25 minutes each; 100 minutes on average on a Saturday night at 10pm.

When a traveling Dr. Who mobile exposition was traveling around the country visiting various PBS stations, Jon Pertwee was traveling with it. On the day he was there, me and a buddy of mine got to be his assistants and help with crowd control, running errands for Mr. Pertwee, etc., etc. We even got to have tea with him in his Winnebago during a break; very much he was a proper English gentleman. Once I find it, I will get a picture scanned and post here.

I've been disappointed in the writing in this season. My husband (a Whovian since he was a little boy) and I have been wondering if Moffat & Co. did some serious acid, and then one of them said, "Duuuuude ... What if the moon were ... an egg?" - and that's where "Kill the Moon" came from.

Anyway. I'm currently re-watching some Classic Who, specifically "Logopolis", which was the episode where Tegan Jovanka was introduced. I find myself wondering what would have happened if Tegan and Donna had ever met ...

ZetaPhi708.20 01-09-2015 11:42 PM

I never got to see McCoy's run in full, as PBS stopped airing The Doctor right after Colin Baker's run. They have one or two of McCoy's on Netflix so I might have to do a dvd binge of his short era.

DreamfulSpirit 03-14-2015 10:15 PM

My DH is a HUGE Doctor Who fan, and right now he's sooooo excited that tomorrow he's going to be in a Q and A session, get an autograph, and get his picture taken with his favorite doctor, David Tennant!

He may not sleep tonight lol!
