Buddha, drop the personal attacks.
When you get a little older you'll understand it's not the best way to win an argument. |

handle it!!! you assumed alot of shit about me while speed reading my thread. so yeah i jumped on the defense and have every right to do so. it has nothing to go trying to win an agrument. oh yeah it makes me feel happy to also curse you out. i :p |
i'm not sure blatently missrepresenting yourself with educational/working background is also the best way to win an argument either...........
now stepping out of the argument |
Oh, right. When I said I was an expert. Right?

1) Don't step into the argument. Let Buddha Mama and HotDamnImAPhiMu work their own thing out. 2) Stop using the same stupid argument since it makes no sense. -Rudey --Fighting with words is useless ladies. It's time for fists. |

Back to the harassed by the COPS part of the thread. I was visiting my mom in Palo Alto a few years back (after I had moved to San Francico) and I was once pulled over because I didn't have my registration stickers. (they hadn't sent them to me yet, but I did have valid registration card inside the car, which I showed the officer.) FIRST of all the cop OPENED the PASSENGER side of my car on his own. as soon as he walked up, which I don't think is very cool.
He asks me if I knew it was expired blah blah I show him the card, but tell him the stickers haven't come yet. He looks at the card asks me "what I'm doing here" First of all Palo Alto his half an hour from San Francisco, big deal if I half an hour away from "home." second of all even though my registration said San Fran. my license still had my address in Palo Alto because I had JUST MOVED, so obviously I probably had some reason to be down there. He proceeds to ask me to look at him, open and close my eyes, inquires if I'm on drugs (I have NEVER done ANY sort of drug IN MY LIFE) tells me something about my eyes tells him I'm on drugs. THEN he asks if I've ever been arrested ??!!! I tell him no. He proceeds to look around my car, (not touching anything, but definitely LOOKING for SOMETHING to comfirm his thoughts that I'm high or whatever) After he cant' find anything, he writes me a fix it ticket and lets me go. I WAS SOOO TRAUMATIZED. I really don't know what made him give me such a hard time, but I certainly WAS NOT on drugs (any person on GC who has met me IRL can testify that I don't "look" like a druggie) I was dressed for a job interview that I'd had earlier that day, my car wasn't crappy or anything, so the only thing I can think is that he was going by the color of my skin. :( This is really the only problem I've had (seemingly) because of race and it made me upset. |

More than likely he was intimidated by your HOTNESS, and can't handle how hard you rock your Sphinx. You're the first person to tell me about being profiled in the Bay Area. I've heard it from people in the Valley and Southern California, but not in our immediate area. |

HotDamn, I think what people are saying is that police are not supposed to generalize people by following stereotypes
Of course many of them do. And a lot of them believe that is being proactive in their jobs. For example, they pull you over after 10 PM at night and say you were swerving so they can see whether you are drunk. They shouldn't do that but they do. Or they pull you over on a pretext to see whether you might be carrying drugs in the car. Also, I don't think hotdamn was being intentionally misleading by saying she works in law enforcement. Its unfair to imply she is lying or something in an effort to make her arguments seem less valid. I would feel harrassed also if I were in budha ma ma's position. |

Haven't heard from you in awhile!!! Where have you been... Yeah, it's been pretty looney around here, but some of us old GC-ers are still hanging out... Anyhoo, I think what gets many folks feathers ruffled up about cops when they get pulled over and a "perceived" harassment, is that either way we push it, officers ARE a representation of the LAWS that binds us--making them "GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS". Some of us folks have issues with the government overall and rebel against this large bureaucracy. Some of us can manuever through the system relatively unscathed... My old assed parent's feathers were ruffled by a lady cop that acted like a biatch. She cursed my father out like he was some stoopid "boy" mentality, saying he was driving without his lights on, when he apparently was. Then my mother started to say something... Now, if you know anything about my mom, she's is absolutely CLUELESS as to how to deal with the police officers... She tries to "reason" with them by arguing "legitimately" with them--think little ole grandma speakin' to a late 20-something cop that obviously made a mistake in identity... No mom, just don't say chit... As for me, I've been pulled over legitimately and received a ticket fairly for speeding... And I paid for it... But, if I were haranguage by a cop, I'd be implementing the "driving while black" protocols no matter how asinine I think the cop is towards me... Besides, you could always be like my crazy uncle that kept taking tax money from the government when he knew it wasn't his... He said, "The government is NEVER wrong... Now, if you want to send me to jail and pay for my chemotherapy for my lungs because you kept sending me checks and I kept cashing them, then hey... But the governemtn is NEVER wrong..." Those folks stopped sending him the checks... |
My friends and I were pulled over on the South Side of Chicago for being white. We were referred to as white boys and asked repeatedly who we were buying drugs from.
-Rudey --All I wanted was a crave case from white castle :( |
ya know...
i never implicated that this was harassment on race. i was just merely saying the this POOO-LICE officah really pressed the maryjane issue, because i had a bob marley shirt on with some loccs, that's all. then one person went and blew it all out of proportion. geeez! |
So I guess the moral of the story is, if I'm ever pulled over I should not under any circumstances let the cop see my Grateful Dead keychain...because everybody knows that that automatically makes me a pot-smoking dirty hippie. Good to know.

Oh say a wreck, domestice violence, rape, fire, car theft, burgerly? It happens everyday. Usually the Guys in Blue are the first there cause they bust thier butts to get to someone in need. Just be glad that there was someone there to check on you. The Guy could have been an Ass, it is in any job. |

Being a cop DOES NOT give you a licence to be an ass. |
True that for sure. I knew a lot and some were dicks. I told several Officeres dont ever back me up. I tried hard to be one of the really good guys, but your attitude changes from the suzzoids that you had to deal with, or the good people that the scuzzoids screwed.:(
Yes, there is a way to report the way an Officer behaves, much more so today than when I was on the Dept. I dont respect asswhole Officers, and reported Myself when it happened. I went to Internal Affairs 3 Times and was exhonerated 3 Times. Citizens do lie, Oh Well? |

I predict many more run ins with cops. All of which, I'm sure, will not be your fault. |
hey so your a chic...
wow!!! the aroma of marijuana will probably attract them to me, right? pathetic! |
take it to PM. I'm tired of your arguments, and they're pretty circuitious (i.e., nothing is ever your fault, etc.) and I'm sure everyone else is, too.
