Am I the only one who's ready for them to get out of South America? I want to see the teams compete in a truly foreign environment, where they don't know the language like everyone seems to know spanish.

MysticCat 03-23-2005 11:32 AM

No, you are not the only one. I'm tired of hearing "rapido!"

Looks like they go to Africa next week.

valkyrie 03-23-2005 12:51 PM

I don't understand Ray's major malfunction with older people. Maybe one time a 70 year old stole his girlfriend or something. What an ass, and Deana is whiny and annoying. I still like everyone but them and Rob & Amber.

bcdphie 03-23-2005 02:05 PM

Like everyone else, I thought for sure last night's episode would be a non-elimination round, but I wasn't upset to see Patrick and Susan go, Patrick's negativity was quite annoying. I hope they leave South America soon, I was hoping they were going to last night - time to move on and see the rest of the world.

ZTABullwinkle 03-23-2005 02:48 PM

I was SO upset at the comments that Ray was making about Meredith and Gretchen. Have some respect!

Next week's episode looks good, but what is up with EVERYONE (so it seems) getting hurt?

Seriously - I hope that Ray realizes what an a** he looks like with his comments, but probably not :p

That looks like a major hurt for Gretchen (but maybe, since they say head wounds bleed a lot, it's not as bad as it seems?)

queequek 03-24-2005 12:15 AM

Did I hear it right? So next week will be a two hour episode? So it will be a non phil-imination episode (at least for the first hour?)

YES they need to get out of S America. Comparing all the routes of TAR seasons so far, I like TAR5 route the best, as it was really diversed and sporadic, not majority in Europe or S America.

mmcat 03-24-2005 12:56 AM

at least south america is comparably stable politically....

hoosier 03-25-2005 04:30 PM

Putting Rob and Amber in TAR was a great move.

Rob is an amazing schemer, and pretty athletic too.

Are the other teams just mad because R & A have already won big bucks?

I think that has a lot to do with it...same goes with the fan base. It's like, "WTF...they already got a million bucks, why do they feel the need to go for another million?"

That...and Boston Rob's just a big asshole. But he's a big asshole who knows how to play the game.

If you're on TAR, you're not there to make friends. You do what it takes to come in first and win the money.

smiley21 03-25-2005 10:14 PM

Next week's two hour episode looks so awesome. I will be stuck to the t.v. that night

RedAngel 03-25-2005 10:54 PM

I think they already had one non-elimination round. The second might be in the two hour one next week. I'm pulling for Uchenna andJoyce but also think that Rob and Amber are playing smart (also sneeky).

Nope, no non-elimination round yet.

GreenKappa 03-28-2005 04:44 PM

im betting that leg 5 tomorrow of the 2 hour epi. is NEL - i hope that MandG are ok and can maybe benefit from an NEL if they are detained by her injury. likewise with BandG

I think so, too-- wasn't last year's mid-season 2-hour ep a nonelimination round? Or am I misremembering?

Right now, I don't know who I'm rooting for to win. I want Rob & Amber to stay in because he is sneaky, they're competent, and they think of new ways to play the game. I think the one dating or married couple that's kind of arguing can go (the one guy that's a cross between Jonathan and Bolo the wrestler guy from last season). Other than that, I really like everyone who's left!

Gina1201 03-29-2005 11:59 PM

OMG the new rules that go along with the NEL are EVIL!!!

It was.

I HATE Ray. I am so glad he is gone. Anyone else cry when the brothers made it to the pit stop? I am now rooting for them. They are so sweet.

I wasn't able to watch until the last 45 minutes. What are the rules for the NEL's this season? Thanks...

RedAngel 03-30-2005 01:33 AM

I agree but it makes it more interesting.

WesternAlumn 03-30-2005 02:02 AM

Tonight's show was awesome! R&A were great as were the B&G and M&G.

R&D got what was coming to them - that's for not offering any money to M&G at the beginning of the show.

And Phil, why do you have to add your own commentary to the Race? R&A finished second because they were smart players. L&A were foolish to stop. Last time I checked, only the first place team got the $1,000,000.

SATX*APhi 03-30-2005 02:20 AM

Does anyone know if CBS re-airs the Tuesday night episode the Saturday night following?

valkyrie 03-30-2005 02:24 AM

Dude man, I think it's totally shitty to not at least slow down and make sure everyone is okay. What if nobody at the scene knew CPR and someone needed it or something? I'd rather not have a million than be so lacking in concern for others.

Anyway, that was the best ending EVAR, since I love the brothers. "Hey kids, don't do drugs." LOLZ.

KDAngel 03-30-2005 02:38 AM

Yeah my sister and I both debated whether or not we'd stop. She said she'd stop, and I said I'd at least slow down, but if it didn't seem serious we'd probably keep going. Maybe it's a little heartless but it's the competitor in me.

GeoffZ 03-30-2005 04:15 AM

I was yelling GO,GO, GO at the end!! I can't believe the Brothers came from behind to beat R & D. That was the best ending I've seen.

I'm glad Ray's gone. Getting beat by the older couple must have really pissed him off. He was taking this race way too seriously.

I just hate Rob. What an asshole. I'm sick of seeing that stupid grin on his face (which they paused on like 10 times during the show). I loved how he called Gretchen and Meredith con artists. If that's not the pot calling the kettle black.

ms_gwyn 03-30-2005 04:18 AM

good show...

I'm in love the brothers, R&A, M&G and the other married couple U&J?

the gay boys are starting to get on my nerves...just a little

ZTABullwinkle 03-30-2005 04:57 AM

I loved this episode. I was so glad to see the competitors, except the a**holes ray/deana and rob/amber helped Meredith and Gretchen out. Harch Non-elimination rules this year.

Then with the brothers. I was so glad that everyone BUT ROB/AMBER stopped to make sure they were alright. Even Phil asked Rob "did you notice that car crash?" It's a race, but not at the expense of someone.

I was literally cheering in my bedroom for the brothers to outrun ray and deana.

Anyone else think that Uchenna and Joyce are like Hera and Gus from last season. Enjoyng this race to the fullest?

KDAngel 03-30-2005 08:54 AM

Quote:

I wouldn't have stopped lol. What was there to do? They could see everyone was being taken care of and there were MORE than enough people there already (I think I saw 2 other cars when R&A drove by).
See, that's what I thought. I was like, it's not as though there's not a WHOLE production crew who are gonna make sure everything's okay. I mean, call me a jerk, but clearly it was being handled...

AGDee 03-30-2005 09:08 AM

I was thinking that too.. about the production crew. There are so many camera people and I'm sure they have a means to be in constant communication with everybody else. Does everybody stop and check on every car stopped on the way to work? Every accident they see? If there are others already there helping, do you stop? If I were on an empty road in the middle of nowhere and came across something like that, I'd stop. However, once there was already a group there helping, I doubt I would.

Exactly. Lynn and Alex were acting all superior ("we stopped to help, unlike that couple we have a psychopathic obessession with") and playing the martyrs ("we would have gotten here sooner, but we stopped to help....") How exactly did they help? Shoot, the brothers even told them to leave, yet they hung around, wringing their hands. PLEASE let them get eliminated next week.

At worst, Rob and Amber are guilty of not slowing down to see if real help was needed, but that's it. That's all I would have done.

And unless I missed it, Rob and Amber were not the only ones who didn't stop to check -- it looked like Joyce and Uchenna rode on by as well.

bcdphie 03-30-2005 02:39 PM

Last night's episode(s) were the best I've seen. I really liked Rob and Amber until last night. At least take a couple of seconds to slow down and make sure everything is ok. That is what all of the other teams did. I can't believe the new rule if you come last in a non-elimination round, yet Gretchen and Meredith had their best placing so far despite everything they had to contend with. When it was down to a footrace between the brothers and Ray & Deena I was hopping up and down hoping the brothers would make it. Next week will be tough to see someone eliminated as I like all the teams left, eventhough Rob and Amber are in my bad books now.

BGKdLady 03-30-2005 03:04 PM

Gotta weigh in here too...

I wouldn't have stopped either...maybe slowed down, but they would have just been in the way. There had to have been a ton of people right there immediately. Obviously someone was filming them right after the wreck (when the showed the camera man on the ground). If they had time to film, there were enough people there to help.

Re, the NEL rules... I HATE that they take away their money and make them beg in a foreign country. At least M&G didn't have to do that. I like the "take away their stuff" rule and think that should replace the money rule. It has never slowed anyone down and it's embarassing that they have to beg for cash.

Anyway...just my .02!

ZTABullwinkle 03-30-2005 03:24 PM

No one has commented on this, that I can remember....But when Gretchen and Meredith lost everything in the NEL, did you hear what the other teams did?

Uchenna and Joyce gave them some clothes. The others donated a little bit of money. Except Rob/Amber and Ray/Deana. Ray was even rude about it.

I realize this is a race/game, but come on. Those two teams are idiots. Rob and Amber would be in SO much trouble if people did recognize them from Survivor. Think about how much HELP they have had.

Sorry, in my book I can only hope that they are eliminated SOON! I can't stand Rob, let alone the cockiness he has.

Gina1201 03-30-2005 03:39 PM

I thought last night was a GREAT episode as well. I was very happy that Ray and Deana are gone, especially the way in which the Brothers beat them.

I may be the only one but I like Rob and Amber as a team. They realize that all in all it is a game. The other teams that plot against them, especially Lynn and Alex, are losing sight of the OVERALL game and are merely focusing on R&A. So for right now, I'm rooting for Uchenna & Joyce and Rob & Amber.

ADPiShannan 03-30-2005 06:00 PM

I love Rob and Amber. I love Amazing Race, but I wanted to watch it more for them and every week they make me love them more and more. Im sure people will turn it around with them not stopping to see if the bros were ok, but so what. I wouldnt either. I mean I may yell are you ok but they were standing out of the car when they drove by so you could see they were ok. Its a race and its not any team loves Rob and Amber and they sure wouldnt stop for them.

Man the grandparents team, the old lady was sure banged up on the head. I felt so bad......

I think Ray and Deana drove me nut him always yelling at her. Im glad to see them go cause I hated to hear them argue.

Id love to see boyfriends go next. Im so not a fan of theirs and I cant stand how they complain about every little thing. It annoys me. What was up with them no you cant get on our van crap? I would have been like too bad I am.

Rob and Amber are my number 1 team, but I think the bros are my number 2. They were so emtional when they beat Ray and Deana and I was cheering them on.

WesternAlumn 03-30-2005 11:19 PM

Gina, you are not the only rooting for Rob and Amber. They are the only reason why I am watching the show. The shananigans are making this season a blast to watch!

My favorite team is Rob & Amber. Don't mind Brian & Greg, Meredith & Gretchen, Uchenna & Joyce. Don't care for Ron & Kelly. Detest Lynn & Alex.

AXO_MOM_3 03-30-2005 11:46 PM

I like Rob and Amber more each week as well. They seem to get along great and work very well together.

Personally I would have probably slowed down and at least checked to see if everyone was okay. But it is a race, and they could see the brothers and Lynn and Alex standing there when they drove by - so they knew they were okay. I question if any other team would stop to check on R&A since most of the other teams have been complete jerks to them since day one.

I like the fact that they actually did something in this episode that benefitted the individuals in the country they were visiting. That was awesome to see them getting the items for the kids. I'd rather watch that then see them puke in their soup anyday!

BGKdLady 03-31-2005 12:04 AM

I went into this ready to hate R & A , but I am definitely rooting for them now! I love watching them!

That was one of the few mistakes I think Rob has made. But then again, maybe not.

True, it was very classy of Uchenna and Joyce to pass along some clothes. But as far as giving them some money, again remembering that this is a competition, the main motivation for helping other teams is because you might need their help later on. Rob is smart enough to know that other teams aren't ever going to help him and Amber anyway, so why make a wasted investment.

Quote:

But the help Rob and Amber have had has come from "locals," not from any other teams. And Rob in particular has been unfailingly courteous and friendly to locals.

It still wouldn't have killed them to slow down a smidge, ask if there's anything they could do, and then drive on. Even offering a bottle of water for the cameraman or a blanket or sunglasses or something could have been helpful. No need to get out, just stop, roll down the window, acknowledge the situation, and *then* haul ass. It isn't like a wreck on the freeway where someone can call it in with their cell phone, or where a tow truck will stop and see if you got help yet. I still like R&A as racers, just not so much as people.

Anyway. *Loved* the donation to the orphanage, and loved the brothers running past R&D. And M&G are just awesome! In fact, at this point I just want L&A gone, since they're getting extra annoying.

[And didja catch the point where the bros were ragging on L&A, pre-crash, driving through the bush? The one driving was saying, "they're probably going heeheehee -chortling-" and then the camera cutting to Lynn doing *exactly that* in L&A's car? *Priceless.*]
