This is really sad. I *finally* read the posts on this thread, and I recognize all of the ppl y'all are talking about. This means that I have a TV addiction, including the MTV's my super sweet 16. :p

I'm watching this episode now. At first I was like "yay, a normal girl who found wealth by luck."

But then she started acting like she was a complete goddess. "I deserve this" WHAT??? Honey there are lots of girls in the US that lived and still live in your past conditions.

GRRRR!!

Watching this show reminds me how much growing up I did from the age 16 to now. B/c man oh man are these girls immature!

KarenC725 09-19-2005 09:07 PM

That adopted girl made me want to smack her! And what was up with the dancing? Sweetie, you deserve a home that makes you feel safe and loved, not a BMW that you don't have room to put your shopping bags in. Not a party where you get mad at your "best friend" and drop her from the VIP list for bringing some guys you don't like.

I never thought I'd feel this old but 16 year olds are snots!

so damn cool 09-19-2005 09:36 PM

Yeah, how lucky was she to get adopted by a millionare.

She got a bmw for her first car. That's just not right.

wrigley 09-19-2005 10:28 PM

Sophie's mom spent 10k to have a stylist pick out a dress A stranger off of the street could have done a better job picking out something that would have actually fit.

If I had ordered my mom around in public like that at 16, I would not be here today.

LightBulb 09-20-2005 01:27 AM

aahhhhHHH this show comes on like three times a day!!!!

The VIP list? Is that normal to have a "VIP" list for a sweet sixteen?!

I don't watch the show, but maybe it is possible that she wasn't always that way.. maybe she didn't get that way until she was brought into that environment. I don't think it's an excuse for her behavior, but still...

That's Sophie's LJ.

She was getting alot of comments, mostly about her weight. :)

AznSAE 09-20-2005 06:41 PM

what the heck was that last night? with the girl or maybe it was the guy and the fashion show. that was so dumb for a male birthday party. he was such a drama girl.

KSUViolet06 09-20-2005 07:07 PM

That guy annoyed the crap out of me. That is my least favorite episode. I did LOVE his Chanel messenger bag though.

That Chanel bag was HOT! I thought he was funny but the guy had a vision and he saw it through. I can see him going into fashion easily.

I disagree. I loooooooved Bjorn. I liked him better than the snooty Hart from last season.

In the Jazmin episode, was it just me or did someone say in the end "I wonder how many people will still talk to her after this party"? (Or something like that)

My favorite so far was the triplets' 18th birthday. They all looked great, IMO.

AznSAE 09-27-2005 09:57 AM

the mom from last night can sure have fun and get down with her bad self.

sugar and spice 09-27-2005 01:18 PM

Hahaha the mom from last night was priceless. I loved her.

Yeah there was a girl that said "there are not a lot of people who are going to continue to talk to her" I wonder why ? lol, but I still thought that was kinda rude of her to say.

I did not like Bjorn, but i thought it was hilarious (and disgusting) when he threw up b/c he got nervous!! lol

Nope -- the triplets were eighteen, and both Lila and the girl next week are fifteen.

ZTAMich 09-27-2005 07:56 PM

Last nite's eipsode. Staten Island NY, guidos everywhere. like ohhhhh. my.gawd.

Glitter650 09-27-2005 09:15 PM

Arrrggghh... I thought the girl last night, Cindy ?? was SOOO annoying and had NO class AT ALL.
Her mom needs to get the fake boobs taken out, they just look painful. She reminded me of the Mean Girls mom, "I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a cool mom ... "

tunatartare 09-27-2005 10:46 PM

I actually watched the show for the first time last night with my little. I think that last night's episode just goes to show that no matter how much money you have, you can always be white trash.

I just watched this episode! This girl needed her mouth smacked!!!! I agree with her mom, but she still needed to smack the hell out of her daughter. I"m frustrated with this show, I need to stop watching it lol

Unregistered- 09-28-2005 06:13 AM

Was Cindy's mom Filipino? Because holy shit, she seemed to be.

I finally saw Cindy's epi tonight and I'm happy (?) to say that my mom is just like hers, minus the fake boobies of course.

My mom got drunk on my Quinceanera (aka Sweet 16) and on my Debut. Granted, she showed a shitload of fun and class, but hey, at least she was fun.

Mom and I watched tonight, but even mom had to shake her head at least more than once at both mom and daughter.

Am I the only one who thought that Cindy's brother was hot?

epchick 09-28-2005 12:13 PM

I'm happy about next week show because if I heard it right, its actually gonna be a quincenera!!! Woohooo...a tribute to my culture!! Y'all think these sweet 16 parties are elaborate, you really have to attend a quincenera....dang these are suppose to be MORE elaborate than your wedding!!! Woohoo.

And they almost couldn't scrap the rest of the money together to pay for the party venue. Was I correct in hearing Cindy's mother owed a balance of $14,000???? Also, was it me or did Cindy wear a regular black bra under the taupe halter dress when she did her interpretation of Dirty Dancing?

I totally caught that too!!!!! Who spends that much money and then shows their bra strap over a formal gown?????

edited to add: THIS IS MY 1,OOOTH POST :)

epchick 10-13-2005 10:34 PM

Aww I was soo happy to see this Quince, it was soo pretty. I kinda wished that they would have shown the more traditional portions of the dance because that would show how much different it is than any other party, but it was still great.

My favorite quote out of this whole MSS 16 idea is from this quince episode:

"I can't believe i wasn't invited to Janelle's party, we talk a lot! I mean last year we had the same health class, and one time, she used my pen!"

:D :D :D too funny!! :D :D :D

Eh, Carlysia's wasn't my favorite, it reminded me too much of Sierra's sweet 15 from last season.

AznSAE 10-13-2005 11:13 PM

yeah, that one girl thought she was all that and saying look out beyonce and stuff. she was too big to be saying that. and, her song sucked.

Unregistered- 10-13-2005 11:16 PM

For a 15 year old, Janelle was pretty 'on it' when it came to designing her court's dresses and knowing exactly what she wanted for the party. I loved the Quince, but damn, that girl needs to keep her mouth shut because she's pretty when it's closed.

Her big teeth and that accent drove me up the wall!

I loved how her sister wanted to cry when she was told how to wear her hair.

The girl who was upset because she had to part her hair on the other side?

You - You're getting to be on MTV! You agreed to be part of the dance court - which includes costume / hair. Try something different, you big baby! :p

LOL - that's the "Miami" accent. Not to be confused with "Spanglish" because even non-Spanish speaking people talk with that accent.

I can't stand it either.

That was one of my favorite parts of the episode!

That's pretty much how the quinceneras are. We prepare for it all of our lives, and so once the time comes, we should know EXACTLY how we want it, the colors, the dresses everything. I loved the dresses that the court wore.

Part of me thinks that the issue was never about the hair, but rather a control/attention issue.

Her hair was obviously the only thing she could possibly have control over since her sister was calling the shots all day.

Crybaby was just jealous that little sister had all the attention that day.

Because I know you all love Janelle & want to be her myspace friend:

Wow. When she mentioned being a dancer on the show, I didn't know that she was that good! I've never seen her dance but that pic is just wow.
