I didn't get to see it this week, but I'm glad you mentioned Travis Tucker...I actually grew up with him, we went to church together, and he is the nicest guy in the entire world, and incredibly talented...although sometimes its hard to tell those things by watching television. I watched his audition in DC and was so happy for him that he made it, and so I'm glad that someone else thinks he has a chance. :)

Sweet... I missed his initial audition but I saw him a couple nights ago. Apparently he has nice abs. ;) Like I said, 19E seems to be looking for a male contender, so we could probably see him later in the competition.

That song was really tough and they were the only ones that sang it. I think the judges gave them a second chance because they said "hey, we f---ed up!" instead of crying about not getting a good night sleep.

wasn't this the group who didn't really do anything to prep the night before and instead waited until the morning of?

they got a nice night's sleep probably.

Of course, the judges don't know that they blew it off the night before, but I can't have much sympathy for them.

Mario is the next AI - that's not my choice (although I like him), but he has stood out so much. Scott is my sweetheart (and I think a lot of other people feel that way too). Also, the big hair girl (Nadia - is that it?) I keep calling her Sophia b/c of BOS2.

I am SO glad that I had hubby tape it while I was in a meeting. It is so much more tolerable with that fast-forward button!!

This season is already loads better than last season.

Except for Sean McNeill, all the people I really like got through. I *heart* Anwar, and not just because he looks like Senusret's twin. :D Constantine is growing on me too.

Heh, I'm not watching anymore, but if anyone saw Warren Nolan, he went to my high school. Apparently he made the final 30 or so....

I missed her performances prior to this. Boy am I glad she is gone. That voice would have gotten annoying REALLY fast.

Saddness for Sean, because I thought he was good. But everyone else that went, I probably won't miss much.

Of course there are people that did go through, and they featured, that aren't that great. So I'm hoping for the final cut.

I've picked out the top 6 guys for sure, just by the amounts of pimping. The girls I'm not so sure about, except a few. But here we go:

Guys: Mario [chosen one, especially after the mother story], Anthony [let's see how long the trach story lasts], Constantine [the "rock star," even tho he's a theater boi], Anwar [because he's just fab!], Scott [because this boy has issues and will make things interesting] and hell, I'll throw in Travis for good measure.

Gals: Carrie [though the "clueless" act is getting old fast], Lindsey [I'm rooting for her, even though she could pull a Julia Demato], Jaclyn [who sounds nothing like Joss Stone, but they keep saying she is the youngest candidate etc and is probably easily disposible for the bottom of the 12], Mikahlah [because Simon can't take his eyes off her... also see msg for Scott], Vonzell [they need a "diva" but she won't win], and fill in the blank for the last gal. Cuz I can insert Janay or Nadia, for about the same reasons. Or maybe the Vegas chick with the dark hair.

Not saying this is based on talent per se, just by looking at patterns and such from past shows, there seems to be a formula for a top 12. But I think Mario is IT.

Totally agree on Mario. Thank GOD that chipmunk girl is gone. I wish that young perky girl would've been gone. She annoys me. I like the country girl...Carrie maybe. It'll be interesting to see who makes it through now. I'm torn on Constantine...we'll see. The blonde guy, with the trach, he's from my area, so I gotta cheer for him. Nobody's really grabbed me yet but Mario.

Gosh these girls are such drama queens!

I have seen way too much scary ass eyeshadow. The girl in all green had on NEON GREEN eyeshadow absolutely caked on. She had to have been wearing a ton for it to be so bright on her dark skin :eek:

then the powder blue eyeshadow on the girl with the short hair who was talking about accepting whatever the decision was gracefully...

This group of semifinalists is about twenty times better than last year's, that's for sure.

Only one big surprise.

Whew...I'm glad the real competitions start next week. These audition episodes were driving me insane!!!

On a side note, Camile Velasco (the hometown Maui pancake girl from last season) just signed with MOTOWN!!!

I know I'm in the minority but I like Mikalah. She's loud and she's obnoxious but she seems genuinely sweet.

I'm confused on how they're doing the next set of voting with seperating the boys and girls. Can anyone explain?

I like Mikalah, too. She, both guys with dreadlocks, and the Latino dude with the hat are my favorites.

I think it's all about Anwar. He's been by far the best I've seen this year IMO. I can't stand that Mikalah girl. She's too over the top & that just irritates me. Her singing is just o.k. but that's just my personal taste & preference.
I do have to say that I believe that the men are by far the stronger singers this year instead of the women.

She unfortunately was in room 1 last night and got cut. I liked her smoky sound, but the voice loss really hurt her I think. (And I think the fact TPTB have some sexist bias that they can put on fugly guys but not overweight girls. :rolleyes: )

I didn't catch last night. Maybe the last 2 minutes. I saw them scroll through all the girls.

YAY for Anwar, Anthony and Lindsey. I'll be rooting for them. Mikalah makes for good TV but her voice isn't all that spectacular. I've heard people comparing her to Barbara Streisand... probably because she has the same grating personality. Her and Scott will definitely be funny to watch. ETA: I started reading the bios. Aloha, one of the girls we've never seen, wears a flower in her hair every time she performs. It's her good luck charm. Didn't we learn this DOESN'T fly with the producers?? You'd think she would have learned from Jasmine. And Jared Yates, another boy we've never seen (but is pretty hot) is a CLAY fan! So he earns my respect because it takes a big man to admit that. And Joe Murena... also a mystery dude... REALLY HOT! I'm looking forward to next week. Hopefully they don't suck.

Well I haven't watched enough to have a favorite so far, but I have always liked Carrie Underwood. And then I found out she's a Tri Sigma, so I will definitely be rooting for her!

Overall the boys were NOT great

Standouts- Nikko, Bo, and Anwar

I think there is a lot more talent in the girls and think it will be a girl who takes it this year. I have several favorites so far but am waiting for tomorrow to see how they perform under pressure. :)

Judd Harris is this season's Jon Peter Lewis, only with a better voice.

Constantine wasn't technically that good, but boy does he have charisma.

Well the dudes they didn't show before (Joe and Jared) weren't anything special... sad to say. I can see either one of them going home, based on the fact that this is the first time seeing both of them sing.

On to the ones we have seen:

I heard rumors about Bo and WOW, he was awesome. He's the real rocker of the bunch... not ConstantMeh... who tonight was, well, meh.

I missed Nikko, but he didn't sound that great in the recaps. Maybe it was a bad clip.

Anthony... sadness. I really was rooting for you. But that song was boring. And is heard at way too many senior proms.

Judd Harris cracks me up. Loved the performance and his smile. Voice is tolerable... hopefully he doesn't suffer from JPL syndrome, where when he stops moving, he stops singing good.

Anwar and Mario are my heros. Love Moon River, even though I'm used to Audrey singing it. It was an interesting arrangement. And during Mario's piece, I was waiting for the JaRule sample to come in. Yes, I'm showing that I really am that young and I don't think I've ever heard that original song. But kudos to him for a good stage presence.

Glad it was taped for me! That was some kinda boring last night. I think a new rule should be no ballads until ballad night.

I was kinda eh at Nikko, but after the rest, he sounded better to me.

Scott let me down, even though I love the song "you are my lady" - it really was not him.

Go home Harry Potter - if nothing else, you should know better than to sing Richard Marx. In fact - lets make another new rule - NO Richard Marx or Michael Bolton songs.. EVER

I voted for Bo and Anwar. Everyone else either didn't do anything for me or they just plain sucked. That last guy w/the funny hat. I hated him. I found nothing entertaining about him nor did I like his singing. It was dull.

But I did! and I'm glad i get to see it.
