I have a LONG way before I have kids but I KNOW that if i have a daughter she must have the name Victoria. She will be named after my godmother who "mysteriously" died last year. I didnt get to speak to her before she died so i wanted to remember her through my daughter... which she always wanted to see before she died. now i know how kids are about having an adult name so I will call her Tori for short.

My son's name was Tedran(Teh-dran)(Ted after his father) Alvin(my father's middle name) but he was a stillborn. The name didnt flow too well to me but it had meaning to me.

Roll Call

I know I'd like to name my first daughter after my grandmother, and a son after my father, but until I get married nothing is set in stone. However I grew up with some people who had  names, and some of them are something else. Not one of these is made up either. San Francisco was an interesting place in the 80s. Please put down all drinks as to not spit all over your monitor and keyboard because some are

Summer Eve
Skye Blue
Joyful Noise
Harmony & Melody (twin girls)
Romeo & Juliet (twins)
Upson Downs
Moonwater (she had no legal last name)
Acacia, Juniper, & Manzanita (triplets)
Mercedes & Porsche (sisters)
Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn (sisters)
Rainbow (there were three)
Freedom & Liberty (twins)
Adnil (Linda backwards)
Rhiannon (at least 3 girls, I think Stevie Nicks was on repeat)
Divine Peace
Brahma Shiva
and at summer camp in my cabin I had THREE girls named Princess

There were a lot of kids with really neat names that honored their heritage, but weren't unfortunate. I was very very very lucky not to be named Borghild! Oh and weren't there names that were really popular? We had a lot of Aishas (various spellings), Tameikas (various spellings), Jennifers, and Chris was popular for the boys.

That wasn't one of the ones I meant, I think Summer Eve was the MOST unfortunate. That poor girl had a hell of a time.

I used to want to name our future son Lance II after myself, but since my wife insists on calling him by his middle name if we do that I nixed that idea. Her rationale is that it would cut down on confusion, but I don't believe in calling a child by their middle name. If I want to do that, it would make more sense to just make that the first name. She has a cousin that is a Jr. and is always referred to by his middle name so she doesn't see the problem. All of the Jrs and thirds in my family are still called by their first name.

Right now we are leaning towards Cameron for a boy or Gabrielle for a girl.

LOL. But Muffin and Kitty are actually fairly "aristocratic" and damn near preppy names. Take a look at New York Social Diary.:p

IvySpice 08-18-2003 04:42 PM

The one thing I know for sure is that if I have children, I will NOT saddle any child with the headache of having a name that's difficult to spell or pronounce. I've known:

Nneka
Liisa
MyJenay (my-zhen-AY)
Yamaich (pronounced ya-MEE-ka)

I can't count how many hours these women spend every week spelling their name OVER and OVER on the phone...sending misprinted credit cards back to the bank...repeating their names three or four times to new business contacts who still can't get it right...

I have a rule that if you put "Chief Justice" in front of the name and it sounds implausible, then don't name your child that. It's not a coincidence that our female justices are named Ruth and Sandra. There will be no "Chief Justice Stahr'lyte Khrysteen" in our lifetimes.

My cousin had a baby and he let his wife pick the name. CLAWD have mercy. Ol’ girl combined their names with their mothers’ to come up with a 17-letter monstrosity. After repeating it for me 3 times, he finally said, “the third ‘T’ is silent.” I was too through. She has a middle name too but I don’t remember what that is.

As for me, my next child will be either Dreux (pronounced - Drew) Alexandre or Anne-Marie Sabrina.

AngelicWings21 06-10-2004 07:54 PM

For my future baby girl:
Nichelle Leianna

if I had another girl- Kaleaha Simone

I have some soap opera names I know. But, I scratched Micah from my list four years ago. I had the most horrible student by that name...had me changing my nonexistent son's name. The little hellion!

WrenSpr04KPsiK 06-11-2004 02:07 AM

If it's a boy.......Brandon Xavier

If it's a girl........Brandi Janae'

Cali_Keisha 06-11-2004 03:39 AM

I wanted my girl name to be Neveaeh (heaven spelled backwards) but I know 2 many people that have named their kids that. I like Jordan 4 a boy or girl but they need 2 be hella cute if it is a girl name. All girls that I know named Jordan are really pretty.
My best friend is having a baby and it is a boy and we (me,her, and baby daddy) just agreeed on a name.
Kaylen Jamius (ja-my-is). If it was a girl we liked Kimorra (I don't think it is spelled that way)But that is the Baby Phat lady's name and it is cute.

ImaDiamond 06-12-2004 11:04 AM

GIRLS:

Tailah (pronounced 'ta-EE-la)
