I don't remember where, but I was reading an article about Kris and Jon from the Amazing Race and they mentioned his Fraternity brothers, but they didn't say which Fraternity. Does anyone know? He went to the University of Arizona.

futuregreek 02-16-2005 07:59 AM

There's a post on the Sigma Sigma Sigma forum that says Carrie Underwood (American Idol) is still in the running.

kddani 02-16-2005 09:19 AM

A KD from MTSU made the top 30 (maybe even higher, don't know?) of Making the Band 3, which premieres March 3rd. PDiddy's trying to make a girl group this time around. Her name's Jennifer Kennedy.

The Real World Goes to Austin!

They say everything is bigger in Texas--so season 16 of The Real World is gonna be bigger and better than ever because we’re heading to Austin! The Real World Austin will begin filming in early 2005.

In other Real World news, MTV and Bunim-Murray Productions have announced an unprecedented agreement to pick-up five more seasons of The Real World and two additional seasons of The Real World/Road Rules Challenge. The agreement will carry The Real World through its 20th season, making it the longest running reality show on cable television.

one of the real worlders *WAS* greek. johanna was gamma phi beta

Sister Havana 06-21-2005 05:06 PM

According to the MTV site, Wes from the new Real World Cast "lives in his fraternity house." Anyone know which one?

sugar and spice 06-21-2005 05:48 PM

Melinda from RW: Austin is NOT Greek -- she goes to a technical college.

I did a little bit of searching to see if I could figure out Wes's fraternity, but if the information's out there, it's not too obvious.

TxGirl 06-22-2005 08:23 PM

Leslie from the first season of Amazing Race is an AXiD from Texas State - the even wrote about her in our magazine.

Found it! From the Kansas City Star: "He'll be a junior at Arizona State University, where he studies business. His GPA is about 3.5, he says. A member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Also plays intramural racquetball and lifts weights."

AXWhoah 06-23-2005 12:19 AM

Hmmm, I wonder if I met him...this past April my boyfriend's Phi Psi chapter at the UA held a joint pool party in Phoenix withe the ASU chapter....this should be an interesting season if his chapter reflects upon him seeing as how one of the ASU Phi Psi's got up on the high dive in the middle of the party and had sex with his date while everyone just kinda watched....

Drunkie679 06-23-2005 12:17 PM

how can he be a junior when he is 19

That is easy to do...I was a senior in college at 19...
Silver

TxGirl 06-23-2005 01:09 PM

So many people take concurrent college classes while in high school that most come in with at least 9 hours of credit. With placement exams some come in with much more than that (the most I've seen on a recruitment application was 36).

It really makes it fun trying to figure out the true freshman!

It also depends when your birthday falls....I have a late birthday (8/28)...so I started my Junior year in college at 19 but a week later I was 20.

I have friends who were 19 through september of their junior year since the cut off for Ohio- not sure if it is the same in every state- is September 30. When starting kindergarten I had to be 5 years old before September 30 of that year.

Maybe that is the case since it says he will be starting his junior year-- guessing it means this fall!! :) Orrrr he could just be smart and skipped a grade!!

ETA: Actually it looks like he either started early or skipped a grade...he is a Sagittarius...so his birthday falls between Nov 23 and Dec 21...unless Kansas or wherever he started school has a different birthdate cut off than Ohio's September 30.

Buuuuttttt the MTV website has "19" next to his name but then has "Twenty" in the bio and "20" up next to his picture!!

Oh well-- I tried!!

Did he always go to ASU? Cause I so don't remember somone from AZ making the cast of RW in like 10 years (since Rachel, San Fran).

As for greeks...

Let's not forget Mindi from Beauty and the Geek, our LOVELY sister. (And she would have won if her partner only knew her middle name. GRRRRR)

What about Big Brother 6? Aren't April and Jenn sorority sisters? Anyone know from where?

I think some of the schools around here still have a February 1 cutoff date.

Plus as was pointed out, you can be a junior credit wise due to HS/college credit classes, testing out of classes etc.

xplpx16 08-10-2005 06:02 AM

Alison from this last season of Popularity Contest on CMT was greek, but I don't know what chapter.

If there is another season of that show I'm auditioning, so maybe a Sigma will make it on;)

xplpx16 08-10-2005 06:07 AM

Oh, I almost forgot. I made a fairly quick appearance on fraternity life when they shot it at University at Buffalo. *rolls eyes*

Just like how my letters were on a bulletin board the same time my butt and elbow were on The Real World Hawai`i.

Sister Havana 08-11-2005 10:17 AM

They just announced the Survivor: Guatemala cast this morning. At least one cast member is Greek: Morgan is an Alpha Chi Omega from Millikin University in Decatur, IL. (it's in her bio on the website) Don't know about anyone else.

ETA the Survivor Guatemala website.

It is a rumor that they are Zetas. April from Sam Houston State and Jennifer from Baylor. Can't seem to confirm it even though I'm a Zeta.

ZTABullwinkle 08-11-2005 05:19 PM

Someone said on our website forum that they were able to find April. I haven't been able to find Jennifer though. Not for trying though!;)

It is confirmed that April and Jennifer are Zetas. Tonight's show has pictures of April and a couple of sorority sisters in ZTA jerseys.

Sister Havana 03-22-2006 05:29 PM

Bumping because a whole new crop of shows have started in the last month or so.

We know about these people already:

The Apprentice: Allie & Charmaine - KD; Pepi - Sigma Phi Epsilon
Survivor Panama Exile Island: Ruth Marie - Chi Omega
The Bachelor Paris: Sarah - Phi Mu, Susan - Delta Gamma
Anyone else? Any of the American Idols, Real Worlders, Amazing Racers?

EricaXO 05-05-2006 06:34 PM

Does anyone know if John from Real World Key West was in a fraternity? If so, which one? I know he went to Penn State, just wondering if he's Greek!

PSUSigKap 05-06-2006 12:32 PM

No, he wasn't.

EricaXO 05-15-2006 12:24 AM

Oh, okay. Thanks PSUSigKap! Any scoop on what he was like at PSU? Did he play any sports or anything? Was he a big partier?

LaneSig 05-15-2006 08:13 AM

On this season's Amazing Race, they keep refering to the two guys at "Frat Guys". Does anyone know which fraternity they are members?

PerfectVerse06 05-15-2006 08:54 AM

On BET's 'College Hill', Rodney's a member of Phi Beta Sigma and Arlando is a member of Omega Psi Phi.

They aren't -- it's just a tag they got early on in the race. They went to a community college, and apparently they didn't finish. As one of the commentators on RealityNewsOnline.com put it when commenting on Ray saying (in Insider video clips) that it was stupid for them to be called "frats" when they didn't even finish college, "being a frat is as much a state of mind as it is a college degree."

divainred 05-15-2006 11:41 AM

Marshawn on Apprentice 4 - Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
Ray on Amazing Race 9 (the current one) - Kappa Alpha Psi

Sister Havana 11-03-2006 04:40 PM

A few Greeks on The Real World: Denver -
Colie - AEPhi
Brooke - Chi Omega
Stephen - Pi Kappa Alpha (president of the Howard colony that's been discussed on GC)

Elephant Walk 11-03-2006 08:00 PM

So she's a Chi-o? I saw she was the president...

There is a whole thread on it over on the entertainment board. Or just go over to CBS.com and read bio's. Adam is a Brother SAE.

L.O.C.K. 11-05-2006 04:39 PM

One of the people is Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Another is Lambda Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Inc.

dgdramadawg 11-05-2006 04:45 PM
