Here are some of the songs I had at my wedding.

You and I (Can Conquer the world)- Steve Wonder (I walk down the ale to this song. Not a dry eye was in the house.)

At Last - Etta James

Back At One - Brian McKnight

Time Will Reveal - Debarge

Perfect Combination - Johnny Gill & Stacy Latisaw

If you need help with music, I am the queen of old school love songs!

Some ideas from my wedding:

Brazilian Wedding Song-Quincy Jones-Bridal Party Entrance
So Amazing-Luther-Bridal Entrance
I Feel Good-James Brown-Exit Song (It was too fun!)
By Your Side-Sade-First Song
My Girl-The Temptations-Dance with Dad

Ceremony was short, sweet and on a tropical island. Highly recommended!

I agree. I don't understand why some people pay so much $$$ for a wedding to a point where they have a wedding note afterwards. If I could have gone to an island to have my wedding, I would have but my grandparents are so elderly, I didn't want them to travel like that. I had a nice wedding but allot of our money went on building our house because after the wedding you have to have a place to live. Don't let those high consultants fool you. You can have a beautiful, classy wedding with a modest budget.

Preach! I am telling you, it was the best decision I ever made. It was VERY little stress, I paid about a tenth (maybe a little more) of what the national avereage wedding costs. The cons are, getting people out to where you want to have your wedding. You may have to give up the idea of EVERYONE being able to go. But that is also a pro. You won't have to worry about paying $30 per plate (or more) for your mama's cousin's auntie's best friends's mailman who you have never met to come to your wedding. I really suggest for any bride, whether they are having their wedding in the US or abroad to KISS. Keep It Simple, Stupid!
That is, unless you are ballin' like that!:D

RBL 04-12-2006 03:46 PM

I heard Christopher Williams- Not A Perfect Man.... and that would be a great song for a groom to sing to his bride.....

Gold 04-12-2006 05:47 PM

I am not sure of the title but the song is by Musiq - I think "Don't Change" or something like that. I had that as my first dance.

I think his name is Tony Terry - Every Lasting Love is good.

There are so many songs, it is hard to chose.

Gold 04-12-2006 05:50 PM

I also had "Spend my life with you" Eric Benet and Tamia BEAUTIFUL!!!

My friend had "Love" by Kirk Franklin and the Family. I think it is on his first CD. These young girls sang it and they could blow - OMG!!!

AGDLynn 04-12-2006 06:24 PM

Okay, sorry to butt in but I have to tell you what happened when hubby and I were looking for wedding songs.

Song: Where Sheeps May Softly Graze (instrumental)
Artist: V. Wolfe

We were laughing so hard people were staring at us. We did play it at the wedding as an inside joke. :D

BrnSuga 04-13-2006 01:45 PM

For my wedding I used:

Usher Me into the Presence of the Lord (T.D. Jakes Sacred Loves Song) and Jesus You're the Center of my Joy- Prenuptial Music

I Love the Lord (Preacher's Wife soundtrack), for setting of the mothers

Total Praise (Richard Smallwood) for bridal party

Jesus Is Love (Lionel Richie)- me walking down the aisle

The Lord's Prayer- candle lighting

I wanted all Christian Songs and it was lovely.

Amaterasu 04-14-2006 03:08 AM

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone suggest this one yet, but John P. Kee has a relatively older so called "Wedding Song." It's not cheesy and overplayed at weddings like a lot of wedding songs, but it's actually wedding-themed and has elements of being brought together by God in it, too.

Other songs I thought of:

"It's a New Season" - celebrating a new season in the couples' life

"Eye On the Sparrow" - signifying the Lord watching over the new union

"We Made It" (Hezekiah Walker) - song of divine victory

Look at totalpraise.net for more songs with lyrics!

RatedDST2HOT 04-17-2006 02:37 AM

Well I love these songs

"After All is Said and Done"- Beyonce and Marc Nelson (they played it in The Best Man)

" Every Time You Go Away" - Brian McKnight

"Breathe" - Faith Hill

"Dance With My Father" - Luther Vandross or "Daddy" By Beyonce for father daughter dance

" Never Gonna Let You Go" - Faith Evans

Diovanka8 04-17-2006 08:05 PM

Lovely choices. I think I am afraid of the big wedding concept. So if/when I do get married, I'll be going to the islands somewhere and it will only be me and my groom. NO one else.

I don't like the idea of a big wedding either. It scares me.

DC_Zeta1920 04-18-2006 02:16 PM

Great post.

This gives me ideas of songs I could use at my ceremony.

The bride and groom dance, we've decided to do Eric Benet and Tamia "Spend my life with you"

likeitsgolden26 04-20-2006 07:32 AM

I Call It Love ** Lionel Richie

dzdst796 01-19-2007 12:56 AM

We had a small wedding in the Bahamas. Here are the songs we used:

My bridal party - Ribbon In The Sky-Intro (version)
Me- Ribbon In The Sky - Stevie Wonder(version)
Bride & Mother - If I Could - Nancy Wilson
Groom & Mother - I'll Always Love My Momma

Another good song is the one used in the movie The Wood.

delph998 01-19-2007 11:39 AM

My wedding will have gospel songs. A few that I love are:

Show Me Your Face-Fred Hammond
I Need You Now-Smokie Norful

Wedding reception, totally different story! I will be strolling at the reception with my Sawrahs!

DSTKellie 01-19-2007 11:47 AM

I really like that song "You're The One" I've heard it on the radio a couple of times. I wish that song was out when I got married.

hazelle 01-19-2007 12:08 PM

hey, just a few thoughts and a few songs..my oldest got married last spring..turned into one of those "big" weddings but we kept control...buffet rather than individual plates saved money, for favors the duo made their favorite songs on a cd and it was fantastic...the main thing for me for my wedding and theirs I learned is TO DO IT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND and no one else...honor your parents, make it special time for your friends, but do it all FOR YOU cause when the years pass, it was your special time to share the love and pledge it to each other for all your lives!

And one of the best first dance songs I have ever heard...my kids did it and it works and gives you great memories:

AT LAST-Etta James

(will check their listing of the cd and will list the others...just don't have it here at work)

Stevie wrote "You and I" for his album entitled Talking Book in 1972. Everything else is a copy....

FYI He also wrote "Creepin" that we always attribute to Luther Vandross. That is on his Fulfillingness First Finale album in 1974.

Just want to clarify:D

NiaX 03-09-2007 02:29 PM

I like a song from Karen Clark Sheard called "Be Sure".. don't know if it would be a song just used in the ceremony or what I walk out to...

christiangirl 03-09-2007 02:34 PM

I don't know how many have heard it but, at my reception, I'd like to play "When I First Saw You" from the Dreamgirls soundtrack (the bonus duet with Jamie AND Beyonce).

Lol, but I think I should find a man first.....that might make it more special:D.
