I told you it was a great place to watch the game. I don't think I can be in public tonight, regardless of what happens.

there was actually a pretty bad crowd there last night. no one seemed to be into the game at all, so we left.

C, I might be in the same position as you. I have no idea where I'm going to find a Sox-friendly place in Manhattan! :(

I bet it's harder to be a Yanks fan in Boston than a Sox fan in NYC.

But as long as I have my BIG PAPI and HAIRY HIPPIE, it'll be all good.

That little guy is the reason my sister is afraid to bring my nephew to any major sporting events. He doesn't curse; she and her ex don't condone it, but she thinks he might see other people acting wild and think it's okay since it's sports. He likes to heckle the athletes anyway. :o Did I mention that he just turned four?

there is supposed to be a bar, i believe in the Village, that only allows Sox fans in. i'll see if i can find the name of it for you.

eta: J, the name of the bar that is supposed to be incredibly Sox Friendly is The Riviera on Christopher St in Greenwich Village.

That stinks...every place I went to on Sat. night was really into it, it surprises me that there would be an apathetic crowd anywhere.

And yes, it is VERY difficult to be a Yanks fan in Boston. You basically have to learn to keep your mouth shut, as hard as you try.

us too. which is why we left. hopefully my friend can get out of work early enough tonight and we can head over there to a better crowd. it was pretty crowded last night, so maybe it was just the area we were standing in? the only time anyone seemed to be really paying attention to the game was when bellhorn had his homerun.

maybe it was the area...it goes back and forth whether near the bar or in the back are the better places to be.

the kells was awsome on sat. night...even when the game got out of control everyone was really into the action.

We ended up at wonderbar for part of the time as well...i'm not a fan of the place, but even there people were into the game...hopefully for you tonight will be different, although i can't imagine the avenue not going nuts for a game 7.

have a beer for me...and if the sox win, have several so i'll forget.

i'm not a fan of wonderbar at all. and i definitely can't see that as a place wehre people would get excited about the game.

i will definitely have a beer or two for you. i'm just hoping i don't have another anxiety attack and throw up again. sorry, probably a gross visual right there.

Caveman?

I love that man even though he's in a slump. They talked to him on ESPN radio after his winning run in Game 5 and he said he's playing the worst ball of his life. Maybe he needs some lovin? I can see how sexual frustration could get in the way of swinging a bat properly ;)

Man you guys are making me so jealous, not only am 3000 miles away but I have a class tonight!! I'll get to see the first (and hopefully) last hour. I'm going to have to find someone to text me the scores inning by inning.

A Mets fan too. My uncle was going to college in Boston in 86 when...well you know what. He almost got killed.

To the Red Sox from this Mets fan - PLEASE beat the Yankees!

Peaches-n-Cream 10-20-2004 07:50 PM

My mother was in Boston in 1986 during the World Series. My mom cheered for the Mets in a bar in Boston. It was nearly the last thing that she ever did. Her friends rushed her out. No joke. :( The funny thing is she cheers for anyone who plays against the Yankees. She's really a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

My fingers are crossed for tonight.

I think that "Varitek" sounds like the name of a technology company.

The first inning just ended, and I am already depressed. :(

unfortunately i can't get too excited just yet.

poor collin must be on his fourth bottle of liquor about now.

KSigkid 10-20-2004 11:02 PM

I'm going to tell you all a little story. There was once a Yankees fan, he was a Yankees fan since the day he was born. His dad raised him a fan. He watched through the good times (86 2nd place finish, Rickey Henderson/Don Mattingly/Willie Randoph/Dave Winfield/Dave Righetti) days, and he watched through the bad days (Kevin Maas, Stump Merrill, Bucky Dent managing, Andy Hawkins pitching, last place finishes). He stayed a fan through all of that, a die-hard fan, and was rewarded when his Yankees won 5 titles in the 90's.

I am that fan. I've seen the Yankees lose regular season series to the Sox, finish second to them, seen the Sox make it to the playoffs while the Yankees stay home. Yet, tonight was my absolute worst night as a Yankees fan - I CANNOT believe this is happening. I will finish watching the game and continue to support my team, but this is going to take a little while to recover from.

To the TRUE Sox fans, it's been a ridiculous series (. To my fellow Yankees fans - it ain't over till it's over.

Now back to the game.

OK Jeter is at bat. Make some magic!

BTW these Yankees fans crack me up! "Who's your daddy?" :D

Damn, Jeter's out at first!

AlphaSigOU 10-20-2004 11:32 PM

What a New Yorker probably would say as he watches the hated Bosux pounding the Men in Pinstripes in Game 7 of the ALCS:

"The f*ckin' Bosox are beatin' my f*ckin' Yankees in Yankee f*ckin' Stadium! What the f*ck?!?!?!?"

Barring a miracle of titanic proportions, looks like the Bosux are gonna play the Cards in the World Series.

GO CARDS!!!! BEAT THE BOSUX!!!!!!

And yes, I bleed Yankee blue pinstripes. :D

Peaches-n-Cream 10-20-2004 11:38 PM

Where is Bill Buckner when we need him?

Taualumna 10-21-2004 12:02 AM

Yay Boston! :)

Peaches-n-Cream 10-21-2004 12:02 AM

Damn!

I can't believe the Yankees lost.

I can't believe the Red Sox won.

Boston must be having fun tonight. :)

The1calledTKE 10-21-2004 12:03 AM

I have been waiting for this so long. I still remembet the heart ache of 86. And we beat the Yankees to go to the WS. what could be better.

I am so happy no way I can sleep tonight.
