Why y'all spoilin the episode for every one on the West Coast?

DC_Zeta1920 12-12-2004 11:08 PM

I was in this thing literally screaming!!

Avon set Stringer up to get killed!!

****begins to itch for next week's episode****

Queencece 12-12-2004 11:34 PM

Okay.....

I was ROTFLMAO when String was running for his life. That was soooo funny! I guess the moral of the story is money really isn't everything. As far as String and Avon....they dimed each other out. String just got caught up first.

I have to agree, this was the best ep of the 3rd season. I think next weeks ep is going to blow this out da water!

Q

PS: I love me some Slim Charles and I think it has something to do with his voice! :D Oh, and String's accent WAS so cute! Especially when he was mad.

Oh my apologies. Well it was a very eye opening episode. Enjoy the show.:o

Since String(Idris Elba) is gone, I must now look for his fine English self on other programs.

I wonder what they have planned for Marlo.

Slim Charles tall, dark and fine.

sunflower02 12-13-2004 12:32 AM

Stringer

I cannot believe Stringer is gone:( I thought he was the sexiest man on earth. I can't believe his character is off the show:( :( :(

StrangeFruit 12-13-2004 01:14 AM

My eye candy is gone. I didn't want Stringer to go, but her wasn't playin' by the rules of the game and as they both said, it was about business.

I was glad that he went out with some dignity-not begging for his life or having to do some ole nasty stuff.

I wonder will Avon be going to jail and Marlo end up being top-dog.

Eclipse 12-13-2004 02:56 AM

I have no words.....my heart was pounding the entire show.....

Wonder what is going to happen with the info Stringer gave Colvin now??

One thing that had me confused....when Omar and "Bowtie" were on the street before they went in the warehouse, Omar said the back entrances were boarded up. If that is the case, how did Mouzone get upstairs???? Stringer had to know that Avon was up to something. I can't believe he didn't have a gun/bulletproof vest on or something!

MeezDiscreet 12-13-2004 03:59 AM

O....M....G!!!!!!!

this was some SERIOUS stuff going on here. strang and avon were straight playing each other! avon was just more gangsta with his!!

and i'm proud of McNulty (or mick nutty as bubs would say--as yall can tell, i was very into season 1) for walking away from ol' girl.

ambitious1 12-13-2004 01:48 PM

Last nights ep. was hot.

I was wondering the same thing about Br. Mouzone(sp). If all the exits were boarded up how in the heck did he make it inside the building and to the top floor at that. He must have been doing some Spiderman type moves.

Something else I found intersting is that they didn't shoot him in the head to finish him off. They just shot him in the chest. I thought for sure when they were standing over his body that they were going to do that. That kind of leaves the door open for Stringer to come back down the road if the movie thing dosen't pan out.

Stringer knew Avon was up to something, by the look he gave him on the balcony, when Avon told him it's just business.

bobbyearl93 12-13-2004 02:00 PM

Best episode... again

Whew...

Stringer wasn't BEGGING for his life, but he dayum show tried to pay his way out. Omar and Mouzone weren't trying to hear it, though. I am glad he is dead. He wasn't starting to act like a little _____ (having fits and slanging paperwork around).

I especially like when Avon said, "Clay saw your ghetto ___ a mile a way." The scene where Avon and String were on the balcony of Avon's crib reminds me of the scene with Nino and G-Money on New Jack. Remember when G-money and Nino said the words, "Am I my brother's keeper." Well, that was similiarly to when Avon hugged him and said, "Us" (which was what he and String always said). I kinda think String knew he was gonna get popped, because when Avon asked him what time he was going to be there, String looked at him funny.

I was also proud of McNulty for walking away from that braud. She was only trying to milk information out of him. His wife is COLD, so he needs to try and get back with her. If not, maybe he can get Kema to change her mind about men:rolleyes: .

I think Avon may end back up in prison though. That dime that Stringer dropped on him is going to result in a parole violation. Can't wait to see what happens with Marlo. He runs a tough crew, but he doesn't have enough juice (politicians, lawyers, judges, police) to take over half of Baltimore. Prop Joe is too much of a businessman to let all Avon's real estate go to Marlo. Plus, now that Avon let Mouzone get his revenge, he has love from NY again. That may come in handy since Prop Joe might cut him out of the loop. He can always get product from NY.

Well I guess "Ol Cutty" won't be returning to the game. It looks like he has taking a liking to teaching those kids how to box. That one kid got broke off, but he didn't quit.

sistarisin 12-13-2004 04:14 PM

:( I'm in deep mourning. Why they have to kill my baby daddy???

Seriously, I think they intentionally shot Stringer in the chest because they will be bringing him back. He had to have on a Kevlar bullet proof vest. It was so obvious that Avon was gonna have him popped!

Unlike most, I liked the direction Stringer was goin. He was using the game to go legit. To me that's smarter than tryna uphold street credibility.

He's comin back - believe that!

Why my girl was telling me about a Big G from Backyard band and I kept telling her that I didn't know who she was talking about. I kept telling her about Slim Charles and how cute I thought he was (what a voice....dayum he cute!) and she didn't know who I was talking about. Then, you posted this and I'm ROTF because we were talking about the same person the whole time. LOL! :o

So, I sent her an email to let her know that and I will see what she says tomorrow. That's really crazy because I don't like go-go and she was telling me and I was like

Anyway, I am in DC and I am SO madd  that I missed that event from back in Oct. Then again, I may not have been too much into The Wire. I was watching it, but not really into Slim Charles.  That I missed it. Dang!!!

I have to admit that I am proud of McNulty leaving that chick too because she was no good for him.

I agree that String will be back because I believe that he was wearing a vest too. Then again, Omar had that powerful gun (whatever type it was) and he was close. Vest or not, that alone should have "killed" him, but you never know.....

Q, Yep...Slim Charles is Big G. Backyard Band is my favorite go-go band actually and I have cd's and tapes for days with his voice on it.....you'd be in heaven....you and Orange Moon.....LMAO :D

Sidebar: Most people who haven't grew up in the DC/MD/VA area do not like the music genre. What you hear on the radio makes people who are unfamiliar with it not like it.....you MUST go to a live show :)

DC_Zeta: I grew up in VA (and am still here), 15 min from DC and Crystal City. I have to say, that I NEVER liked go-go. I even lived with my cousin who was in a go-go band and listened to it ALL THE TIME and I liked it when I was younger, but now I can't STAND it. I don't know what happened between now and then, but it sounds like NOISE on some pots and pans to me.

A live show?! Never catch me there! Unless, Slim Charles was there. Now THAT I will see!!:D

Oohhh, tapes with his voice on it.....you ain't lyin about me being in heaven. I don't know why I like it, but its sexy.

I like Method Man's voice too.

Q

DC_Zeta1920 12-14-2004 08:17 AM

LOL why did I assume you weren't from the area....

Truth be told I've lived here all 23 years of my life and didn't start liking go-go music until 3 years ago.

Meth's voice is alright too.....

But dagnabbit I'mma miss Stringer

StrangeFruit 12-14-2004 11:43 AM

Although it would be nice and very "soap operaish, "I doubt very much that Stringer will return. They had in big bold letters as they showed previews of the season finale "Stinger is Gone."

And speaking of the GoGo music. I was born and raised in New England and never heard of it until I went to Delaware State where they always featured a Go Go Band during homecoming. I absolutely love it. It's fun and freeing in a sense, like House music. But I love to dance so that may be why I like it so much. So there are folks outside of the DC/VA/MD area that like Go Go music.;)

OrangeMoon 12-14-2004 03:10 PM

There are too many unanswered questions for this to be the last episode...

Dante shot Tosha!!! I read the episode guide on HBO. Darn that's why Omar was all up in the air when the police asked for a shooter.

Fruit punked Cutty on a package. Cutty was about to take the little guy out but at the last minute came back to reality. What's going to happen with that?

What about Kima and Cheryl?

And, while reading the guide I read this:"
Greggs and McNulty press Bubbles back into duty to gather street intelligence on the Barksdale gang, which has lost its prime territory, the Towers. Bubbles discovers that some of the city's best turf — downtown near the lunchtime crowd looking to score — is now controlled by "a young boy name Marlo." He also offers up the tag number of the Marlo's SUV. Looking into Marlo's background, Greggs discovers that he was a murder suspect until a witness who'd agreed to testify against him was found dead — two bullets in the chest and one in the mouth — and Marlo went free. " :( So that's his MO. Something better happen to Marlo!!!

DC_Zeta1920 12-14-2004 03:20 PM

:D @ Strangefruit. Thats what I love about it too. The music makes you move!

OrangeMoon: Thats why alot of us are on junkie status now because there are so many unanswered questions. They are basically keeping us viewers in suspense.

I'm so addicted man....I feel like my mom and her addiction to the story lines of day time soaps :D

Whacked! Another HBO Main Player Meets His End
By LOLA OGUNNAIKE

Published: December 13, 2004

ans of HBO's hit crime series "The Wire" may have been shocked off their couches last night when one of the show's main characters, the calculating drug dealer Stringer Bell, was gunned down in a gruesome ambush.

But it is unlikely that anyone in the Sunday-night audience was as stunned as Idris Elba, the 32-year-old actor who has brought Stringer to life since "The Wire" began three years ago. "When I first read the script I was like: 'What? No! This isn't supposed to happen,' " Mr. Elba said over dinner at an Upper West Side restaurant. "I was deeply disappointed. It was a surprise, a complete surprise."

It is an unusual move to be sure, but one that has become increasingly common on HBO, a network known for unconventional plot twists and bold, can-you-believe-they-did that? surprises. "The Sopranos" has never been shy about doing away with major characters - Big Pussy, Ralphie and Adriana were all killed off. "Deadwood," the drama series set in the lawless West, lost its Wild Bill Hickok. And D'Angelo Barksdale, the young drug-dealing character who carried much of the first season of "The Wire," was strangled in a brutal prison scene. Another prominent "Wire" character, Frank Sobotka, ended up with a tag on his toe after being shot in the second season.

bobbyearl93 12-15-2004 02:25 PM

Adios Senor Bell...

I heard through the grapevine (a writer) that the reason why Stringer left the WIRE was because he wanted to make more MOVIES and get out of the TV series. So if this is true, I doubt very seriously if he will be returning back. Plus, after reading that websight that Kimmie 1913 posted, I don't think people (like Omar played by a guy named Williams) were crying on the set for nothing. HE AIN'T COMING BACK!

BTW, he had a very discusted look on his face when OMAR said, "You thank this bout money. You still don't understand. Ya boy gave you up... n we'n have ta TO-cha his ass neither."

I don't know if anybody caught it, but it looks like Kema is gonna be sleeping with a dude on the next episode. They showed her kissing somebody and (in my expert opinion) it didn't look like a female's back. Can't wait till Sunday.

I agree Orange Moon.....But I was  when Marlo showed up at the trial.

too many unanswered questions.....

ambitious1 12-20-2004 11:55 AM

After last weeks episode I was trying to hold on to a glimmer of hope Stringer may find a way to come back, but after seeing last nights episode I had to come to grips I just won't be seeing that fine piece of man candy on the wire anymore.

Last night's season finale seemed more the the series finale.
I can't wait until next season though.

Does anyone know when the next season starts?

Eclipse 12-20-2004 12:15 PM

I actually enjoyed this episode. I wasn't expecting anything major....how could you top Stringer getting killed??? If they wanted to be a "regular" show, they would have saved ithe shooting until last night, but what really impressed me was the entire message "The players change, but there's still the game." That was the whole underlying theme of this show. Crime does not pay, but there will always be crime. Marlo taking over the corners. Johnny's dead, but Bubbles has a new kid he's trying to "school. Hamsterdam is bulldozed, but hoppers right back to selling drugs.

The ending with the people out of the corners, Boddie looking at Marlo's crew was great. Who's going to be the next one to try to knock Marlo off the throne? Boddie? Slim Charles? The Co-op?

The entire scene with the music playing and them flashing to different things was beautiful. The court room, Donnette crying, the street etc. Only thing I could have done without was Kema and her little side thang and The Lt's--excuse me MAJOR's-- booty with Rhonda's legs wrapped around him. ((Shudder))

I think everyone--Jimmy & Omar especially--found that what they thought the wanted was not as satisfying as wanting it.

Man, I love the Wire. What is I'm gon' do next Sunday night??? what is I'm gon' do???

Well, I have conducted my research. I have tested my data. And it looks like that might possibly be a :rolleyes:woman Kema is with. I stand corrected. I will say this, Kema dayum show didn't seem nervous about doing that scene. She is a GREAT actor. I look forward to seeing more of her craft in the future.:D

I also could have done without watching SHAKAZULU sleep with the DA (she isn't that hot, anyway). Also, I thought Bunny (Major Colvin) was gonna go up there and slap Rauls during his demotion. It was so funny watching Tweet go off on "BERNARD". Now she talked his weak ___ into getting the hook up on the phones, so they could skim some of the money. Then, when they get popped, she tells him how stupid he is and how he is the dumbest person she has ever went out with.

I personally like how reality set in for Avon, just before they got popped. He started to evaluate the situation and realized he created more problems going to war with Marlo. I think he felt that maybe the better business decision would have been to let him have the corner. This way, there would have been less bodies, no WIRE on the cells, good product, and most importantly he doesn't break his parole. Still, Avon never should have been there around all those weapons, anyway. String told him that so many times.

Omar's boyfriend is so weak. He told Omar that he held out as long as he could, but Brandon held out longer and was tortured and killed. I hope Omar still has the receipt, because he needs to trade him back in for another one.

The show ended like there won't be a SEASON 4. Jimmy returns to walking the beat and he was the one who got the WIRE started in the first place on each season. Even though Slim and Bodie are still on the street, I'm thinking maybe Season 4 will bring a new crew to the corners to battle with Marlo.

Last but not least, will somebody telly Cutty it's 2004, not 84. It's time to let the MINI-FRO-SHAG:confused: go.

DC_Zeta1920 12-21-2004 03:45 PM

It is rumored that The Wire wont be coming back for Season 4. This saddens me because it is one of the best shows on HBO..hell one of the best shows period.

There is a petition out for this....

MeezDiscreet 12-21-2004 07:16 PM

here we go...

LMAO @ "contrapment." that was funny. but, with bodie, slim charles and brianna (since she comes from a family of hustlers and gangstas) out, yall think they'll try to get it popping again?

i felt a touch bad for bunny being demoted to lt. but, i LMAO when he said "get on with it emm effas" that was CLASSIC.

i'm  at burrell for taking the credit for the crime drop. and i'm    at snoop for trying to take the credit for killing stringer. somebody need to put 2 to her t:ots and get her off the show.

thumbs down to carcetti!! i felt bad for gray when ol' boy was giving his "i have a dream" speech. he's such a slime.

so, the chick who plays kima must really be a lesbian. she was licking and sucking that girl's breasts with too much fervor. "acting" don't get that good. i could've done without that and daniels and pearlman doing it.

and see, strang had been telling avon to stay away from the griminess--stay away from guns, bodies, phones and corners. avon aint listen and got caught with the weapons.

what yall think of brianna leaving her brother like that in the courtroom? could it be because she knows he got info on d'angelo's death and won't tell her? could it be that her money is in danger with him behind bars and strang dead?

and fruit looked like he was about to piss his pants when he saw cutty. yeah dude, last time you saw him, you were staring down the business end of his piece!!! that was a CLASSIC moment too!! i love cutty. he need to holla at me!!

Q

bobbyearl93 12-25-2004 12:58 AM

Some of you may have already known this...

I just found out that the guy who plays the preacher (that bunnny had to explain Amsterdamn to and Cutty got help from) is the REAL LIFE Stringer Bell. Supposedly, he and the writer (the REAL LIFE McNulty) are friends now, even though they were enemies. I heard they even have lunch together and discuss ideas for the series. You may be thinking "That guy is old", but the WIRE storyline is based on what happened in the 80's. They just changed it to make it seem as if it occurs in the present.
So even though Stringer dies in the series, he is alive in reality.
That's strange, because the preacher doesn't look like he was tough enough to be a NUMBER 2 guy in the game. Still, Stringer was never really all that hard anyway. He was a businessman. Plus, you can't tell how hard someone is by their look or demeanor. Look at Marlo, he doesn't look tough either, but he runs a cold crew and he is extremely street smart for his age.

I also heard that Season Four will focus more on Marlo and his crew. They will be a rival crew who will try to take over and force Marlo out. I am not sure how the detail will be set up and who will be on it. Again, McNulty was the sole reason why each WIRE was up, but he walks the beat. It will be intersting to see who will take his place, if he is no longer involved. My guess would be Bunk, since he catches a lot of the murders.
