Because people keep on posting that it is an AEPhi colony but the last time everyone heard from the Panhellenic on campus the vote had not actually taken place.

UCF

Ok, here's the deal with UCF.

They used the new Panhellenic release figures. For some reason, I don't think it fit our campus well. A lot of this could be due to the hurricane causing recruitment to be set back about a week and a half.

Quota at UCF is usually in the high 60's/low 70's. This year, quota was 56 (although there's some confusion over the actual number...adpiucf heard a different number than I did). Now, I'm not sure if my information is 100% correct (it might not be) but I found out through my sisters who are still collegiate members that there were only a few houses that made quota: ZTA, TriDelta, AZD, ADPi and Pi Phi. I know for sure that these five houses made quota but as for the others, I think they were all pretty close to quota or maybe some made it and I just didn't hear about it. It's surprising because usually most our houses do make quota and the houses that don't are only a few PNMs short of quota. I heard a rumor that one sorority is in danger of losing their charter. :( And we're still supposed to be getting another sorority this fall and possibly one is spring!

Maybe a UCF collegiate member can fill us in on the details and what happened?

ADPiShannan 09-02-2004 02:01 PM

I just wondered if Muskingum College in Ohio had recruitment? I know they have a few local sororities, but I thought they had Alpha Sigma Alpha and Theta Phi Alpha there?

ajuhdg 09-03-2004 05:28 AM

Correction...

DG at Texas State San Marcos took 25.

Not to be mean, but if you don't know if the rumor is true or not, you shouldn't spread it. I know that you didn't name the chapter or anything, and I certainly don't know which chapter it is...but there are some people that will go find out and it just generally isn't a good idea unless you know for sure.

Do you mean do they have it at all, or did they have it already? :p It's deferred till January. They do have rush, but it's not under NPC rules.

Errr...which is why I didn't name the chapter or spread it? Spreading it would be like me saying, "XYZ is definitely losing their charter because of abc reasons."

It's actually not a rumor since I heard it from someone on pan exec and there's other reasons why that I won't get into. Maybe I shouldn't have started the sentance with "I heard a rumor".....

I'm sorry to have said anything. I didn't make the comment to be malicious as you may have thought. I made it to emphasis the flaws in our Greek system over the past few months. Only a few houses made quota, quota was much lower than it's been in years (although relatively the same number of girls went through recruitment this year), a house is in danger, and Panhellenic still wants to add on 2 more sororities in the next year.

BellaBerlee 09-03-2004 01:39 PM

ZTAngel,
Does that mean that more houses will COB? Do you know any confirmations on houses with quota (i know you werent sure earlier but any updates?)

Well, now that all my friends in Orlanado have fleed from the area (lol), I don't know if I'll get confirmation on all the numbers until sometime next week.

I'm guessing this will be that more houses will COB although I'm not entirely sure. I know there's a few collegiate UCF girls on GC that may have a better answer than me.

Phi Mu at Shorter--24 women!

Tulsa ChiO 09-04-2004 07:20 PM

University of Tulsa's Results

Here are the results for University of Tulsa:

Quota=15

Chi-O=16
Tri-Delt=16
Theta= 16
DG=16
Kappa=15
KD=8

Rush was so awesome for nearly all the houses this year! Definitely the best rush that I've seen since I've been at TU, with 5/6 houses making at least quota!

pinkflamingo 09-04-2004 10:24 PM

Yet another Okla. State result! (I'm finding them slowly but surely.)

Pi Phi has 51 new members

dzandiloo 09-06-2004 12:54 PM

Tarleton State

I don't have everyone's results, but quota was 43, and Delta Zeta made quota for the 19th year in a row!!! (We got 5 of 6 DZ legacies & a couple of DZ cousins!).

I don't know AGD or Phi Mu's results, but will share as soon as I get them.

AnchorAlum 09-06-2004 01:13 PM

Would love to know how DG at Florida State did.

GPhi at FSU - congrats to Gamma Phi! Any news on the other houses?

Thanks!

UCSan Diego had an AEPhi colony that formed from an interest group. They chartered last winter. This fall will be their first formal recruitment on campus!

Ky Gal 09-06-2004 03:05 PM

Can someone please tell me what GLO stands for? I saw this on another Greek Chat post....I'm sure this is probably elementary, but I just can't come up with it. Thanks!

Hey! I pm'd you!

But anyway, GLO I think just means in simple terms - a sorority or fraternity.
i.e -"my Glo just recruited 5 new members" .....something like that. I think.

According to our advisors at SDSU the only vote that was actually taken with respect to Alpha Epsilon was whether they could participate in formal recruitment. The vote did not pass. Our chapter and advisors say that the chapter has not affiliated with AEPhi. Where are you getting your information? Do you have friends in the chapter?

carnation 09-07-2004 06:11 PM

Baby Berry's friend pledged AGD at West Georgia this weekend! Another friend pledged too but we don't know what yet.

I think SoCalGirl is talking about the AEPhi chapter over on UC San Diego's campus, not at SDSU.

SoCalGirl 09-08-2004 02:45 AM

I was simply clarifying for AEPhiSierra that, yes there is a new AEPhi chapter in San Diego, and no it's not at SDSU. Sorry I wasn't clearer when I wrote UCSan Diego.

I heard that quota was 57 women- it dropped dramatically throughout the course of recruitment. Because of the hurricane, I've been away from campus, and haven't heard much about who made quota/ etc. Kappa received 37 wonderful women. Many PNMs dropped out of recruitment because of confusion about the new recruitment schedule. The last 2 nights (video and prefs) were on school nights. Girls asked me all week what they were supposed to do if they had class on those nights. UCF has tons of night classes- its very common.
I also heard rumors- totally unconfirmed- about glitches in the new Pan computer matching system.
I think everyone was surprised with the low numbers. Its only our 2nd recruitment, so we still have a lot to learn. Still, I felt we did a complete 180 from last year and were doing really well all week long.
UCF is definitely not ready for all of this expansion! We have houses struggling, and after this low turnout for recruitment, I don't think we're in any position to open our doors to 2 more groups this year.
I know this isn't too much info, but its all that I have heard so far. I'll be at Pan today, so I will see if I hear anything else.

ZTAngel, I'm PMing you.
