My cousin and I are cousins and sisters! It is a wonderful bond! I just wish we could have been in the chapter together at the same time....but she did not rush until 2001...and I graduated in 2000! It is so cute because our dad's are brothers so we have the same last name, and I always went by my last name, and now she does too!

Oh I love it-- I hope they join the same house!

Same with me. My cousin's daddy and my daddy are brothers. I pledged Kappa when my cousin was a senior in the chapter. We are both the youngest in our families, so I was as close to a legacy as she had!

ADPiAkron 08-28-2004 08:16 AM

When is the next round carnation? And then after the next round is it preference-- and then we will finally find out?? Ahhh the suspense!!

Also, what happened with the cousin? Did she get invites to the same houses??

One last hijack to add to the cousin comment-- it is true for me too that my cousin was as close to a legacy as I was going to get because my sister pledged another sorority at her school and my other 2 sisters were never Greek. I have 4 girl cousins and only one went greek-- and 3 sisters and only one went greek! But I am so happy I have ADPi to share with my cousin!

carnation 08-28-2004 08:36 AM

The next round of parties will be today and they get their invites tonight. Prefs are tomorrow and Bid Day is late tomorrow!

I know that Baby Berry Cousin is supposed to go to Emerald but I don't know about the other 2. She's in a weird situation because she had a school camp all week so she's being allowed to start recruitment late. She had tons of great high school activities and is really social so she ought to do well!

AXOjen 08-28-2004 09:25 AM

Keeping my fingers crossed for both young ladies!! I'm another emerald, too. The birthstone, that is... I don't know if I'm a sorority "emerald" yet or not. ;)

Thanks for keeping us posted! :)

ADPiAkron 08-28-2004 09:44 AM

Best of luck to both of them!

Buttonz 08-28-2004 11:06 AM

I hope both she and her cousin end up with the jewel of there choie...together or not... I'm a topaz (birthstone) so lets go topaz

smiley21 08-28-2004 01:10 PM

carnation 08-29-2004 12:03 AM

Both girls are returning to SAPPHIRE and EMERALD for prefs. They love both groups!

Lil_ChiO_Lady 08-29-2004 12:12 AM

I am routing for Sapphire, because it's my birthstone,:D ...I wish her and her cousin lots of luck and hope they have fun with pref..It's really cool to see if they choose the same house.

I hope they both get whichever house where they will really shine, but there's a part of me who thinks it would be nice if they end up with the same sorority home!

And of course, since the sapphire is my birth stone, I kinda hope they prefer it! ;)

oceanphi01 08-29-2004 12:59 AM

Go Sapphire....not that I know what house that is, but it IS my birthstone. hehehe.

Anyway, good luck!!! i know they'll both find their home!!!

AXO_MOM_3 08-29-2004 09:29 PM

Congrats to your girls Carnation and AOPi!

carnation 08-29-2004 09:34 PM

They both went AOII (Emerald), and so did another friend they met from here!

They went into this building to get their bids and first the Rho Chis did their act. Then the girls got their bids and shirts and there was all this screaming. Then, like at Valdosta, all the new members came pouring out of the building, screaming and running! Baby Berry and her cousin came running out arm-in-arm and LOL!! BBC ran into the door! And then they were given pandas, bags, and roses and met their Rosebuddies. And I met aopinthesky from Greekchat!

So another Carnation Nation rush ends happily and we're all content. All the groups on that campus are great (there are 8 sororities:5 NPC and 3 NPHC) and I'd like to thank you guys for being supportive and especially those who wrote recs. God bless you all!

And for those who thought I ought to lay off the rushes for awhile--sorry, we have 2 more in the next 2 years!

THANK YOU GREEKCHATTERS!!!!!! :)

AGDAlum 08-29-2004 09:34 PM

When I got home this afternoon I caught up on the thread...came back three hours later to find the news!

Congratulations all around!

AGDAlum,
their Yankee aunt

IvySpice 08-29-2004 09:42 PM

Now that there's a happy ending, can we know what college these lucky new members attend?

smiley21 08-29-2004 09:47 PM

yay!! i am so excited for you guys!!

AOIIsilver 08-29-2004 09:57 PM

Yeah! I am so happy that more of the Carnation Nation has gone AOII!
Woo hoo!
Congrats!
