8 hours 33 minutes and counting :D

AOIIalum - Did you read the Parent's Guide ? I'm just a little "worried" b/c I saw this A&E special about home rentals and make movies "family appropriate" we are talking R to G/PG, one women walked out of the film with her 10 yo b/c it was bit to racy for her and it was PG-13 (I thought to myself....did you see the rating? -- sorry end rant)

oh man I couldn't resist some of the highlight, damn the ctrl-A, I didn't read detail, but I so didn't need to see some of that

BetteDavisEyes 05-18-2005 08:03 PM

Admit it people. How many of you are going dressed up in costume?

I just went to pick up my tickets & saw the massive line already outside. The theater was nice enough to put out chairs & tables for the losers...I mean hardcore fans waiting hours. Seriously though, while I picked them up, I saw 1 Darth Vader, 3 Stormtroopers, & I Princess Leia.

ms_gwyn 05-18-2005 08:25 PM

I will be a geek enough to admit that I've thought about costumes, but not for the movie...for the celebrations/conventions :p

But then I think....am I that hardcore? and the answer is always no

kafromTN 05-19-2005 04:01 AM

I just got back from watching it.

I loved it, it made up for the first 2 episodes.

You are such a dork.

But don't worry, I'm still having your babies.

docetboy 05-19-2005 04:34 AM

Wow.

Great. Tied strings up, Episode IV starts right out of the ending. I loved it.

ms_gwyn 05-19-2005 06:02 AM

oh my that was so good.

b/c I was up so late, I do admit that my eyes were drooping a bit, but had nothing to do with the movie.

I am so glad that I didn't read any spoilers and the few that I mistakenly read earlier today did not ruin it for me.

I will be seeing it again at least 2 more times in the next few days to digest it...but WOW

I do have one nitpick, but I can get over that......

WOW

Run, don't walk to see this movie

I haven't read it, but rugrat #3 is hanging out at a friend's house instead of going with us to this one. Everything I have read says that the PG-13 should be taken seriously for Sith, so he'll have to wait until I see it and make final judgement. Of course, older brothers are almost 13 & 15 respectively, so they're ready to go ;)

8 hours and 12 minutes!!!!!!

No costumes here, but I do have the Millenium Falcon BK toy on my desk at work. If that makes me a loser--I prefer nerd--I don't care today :D I've waited almost 28 years for this movie, and Lucas darned well better not let me down.

8 hours and 5 minutes now!

BetteDavisEyes 05-19-2005 09:31 AM

I will be seeing it at 10 am this morning. Only 3 1/2 hours left & I'm seriously jealous of those of you who have seen it.

EEEEEEEEEK!

ASUADPi 05-19-2005 02:32 PM

OH MY GOD!!!!! IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!

If you cry at movies you will cry at this, fair warning.

I loved it. Although I will admit that I was yelling (not loud) at Anakin. I know that he turns evil (we all knew that) but I was like "no don't do it". LOL.

The storyline to how he turns is heartbreaking. It seriously broke my heart.

One point I'm pissed about is that a line from episode 6 is now completely negated.

I'm also upset because James Earl Jones was not credited. Butheads.

BetteDavisEyes 05-19-2005 04:32 PM

STAR WARS RANT & RAVE

I AM SO FUCKING PISSED RIGHT NOW.

I went to see the movie & some dumb bitch took her baby and young (I mean less than 3 yrs. old) to the movie. That baby & kid proceeded to scream, wail, cry, & throw a tantrum throughout the movie. People were shouting at her to leave the fucking theater b/c her baby was loud & disrupting the movie pleasure of the rest of us. We complained to the manager as did more than half the theater but did anyone kick her out? NOOOOOO!
We had to tolerate their fucking noise which ruined the movie for me. The only bright side was that we got free passes to see it again so we plan to probably tomorrow early.

PLEASE KEEP THE KIDS AT HOME!

ASUADPi 05-19-2005 06:16 PM

There was actually a two screaming kids in my theater last night. While I was waiting in the concession line another person in the theater noticed a cop coming out (of our theater) and she asked about the screaming child. The cop didn't know what she was talking about so I told him that there was a screaming kid in there. The cop said that until the movie started he couldn't ask them to leave. Once the movie started, management actually asked them to leave.

chideltjen 05-19-2005 07:05 PM

Is anyone starting a spoiler thread? I saw this thread had grown 2 pages since I last checked it and I was scared I was going to read something I shouldn't have.

Only 3 more hours!

docetboy 05-19-2005 07:10 PM

People at work thought I was crazy for going to the midnight showing....guess they've never met this guy:

http://www.mysanantonio.com/specials...rs_movie_line/

AOIIalum 05-19-2005 08:34 PM

Oh...My...WOW...

THIS is the movie that I & II only dreamed of being. I laughed, I cried, I yelled "NOOOOOO" (somewhat quietly) more than once, and at one point I think my jaw hit the floor and stayed there for who knows how long.

Naturally, the oldest rugrat hated it. Then again, he loves I & II and detests IV, V & VI. At least he was happy about our virtually perfect seats, which was crucial after our sardine can experience for Ep. II.

Definitely not a movie for young children, whatsoever. Anyone who takes an infant or toddler to this movie should have their head examined.

I can't wait to see it again. Way too much to digest on one viewing. Wow.

astroAPhi 05-19-2005 09:04 PM

I went to a midnight showing. Tons of fun. We're going to go see it in DLP tomorrow night. I was also absolutely heartbroken by Anakin's fall because I felt he was tricked. A lot of false promises and lies... I'm going to start reading the book tonight because I was told that there are some expansions on some things that I wanted to know more about.

Don't take kids under 10 to see this. Seriously, it will scare the hell out of them.

I'll admit that the only reason I'm on GC is because my Star Wars message board is down. I need help. :(

winnieb 05-20-2005 01:11 AM

My husband saw the movie at midnight last night-- today he was off work, I asked what he did all day-- he saw the movie AGAIN-- twice in twelve hours.
Tomorrow night he is taking the kids. My 4year old (who won't make a sound during the movie) loves "Dark-Grader" (i am just getting him convinced that it is darth vader).

AOII_LB93 05-20-2005 01:53 AM

Holy friggin crap! It was so good. I'm still stupefied. He was so tricked...damn that palpatine.

Lady Pi Phi 05-20-2005 10:24 AM

LOVED IT!!!!

docetboy 05-20-2005 12:21 PM

I just watched my copy of DVD of Star Wars - Episode IV - A New Hope. Damn, I didn't think this movie could get any better, but with Episode III, it has. I need to watch V and VI now and then rewatch I and II and go see III in the theatres again.

Powers very addicting, Star Wars has!

Eeks, make sure Dad covers his eyes during the bad scenes. I know I had nightmares when I saw Empire Strikes Back as a kid because I thought my dad was going to cut my hand off if I was bad!

Do NOT see it in a digital theater. I assumed (incorrectly) that cinema digital theaters would be the equivalent of state-of-the-art DLP systems, which I used to sell and install, with regard to black level.

If you see it in a digital theater, the blacks will be gray. This is not a problem in bright scenes where it looks great. Its a huge problem in dark scenes where it looks washed out.

DeltAlum 05-29-2005 10:34 PM

Outstanding. Mrs. DA thought so, too.

I've seen it both ways and still prefer digital...I didn't notice the blacks being gray.....maybe I was engrossed with the story. But maybe I got lucky and I know for a fact that I've seen it in a DLP theater.

SAEalumnus 05-30-2005 01:53 PM

check this out!

Click here and be sure you have your speakers turned on.

ETA: This is better viewed after you've seen Ep. III.

Jadey28 05-30-2005 04:02 PM

I saw the movie last night. Finally, I understand what was going on. Stupid me saw the Episodes in the following order: I, V, VI, II, IV...and then III. Needless to say, I was highly confused for a long time. It all makes sense now and I can watch them in order! :D

ASUADPi 11-02-2005 06:15 PM

So DVD came out yesterday.

Who has bought it?

I found it at Target for 15 bucks.

I watched the documentary on the making of a 60 second battle scene on Mustafar. It was AMAZING how many people were involved for just that 60 second scene.
