3rd round invites
 

So everyone, I just got back from campus where I got my 3rd round invites back. I was invited back by 7 of the 10 chapters I attended, but unfortunately, 2 that cut me were two of my favorite houses. I only had to cut one which was ok by me because I wouldn’t have known which one to cut if I had to choose more! But now I have to be back on campus today at 2:45 (I hear this round will last until 10 or 10:30 tonight unless if there is a rain delay!). But the houses I will be attending tonight are:

The DALLAS house- great girls although at this point I feel as if they aren’t the house for me. I haven’t felt as comfortable there as I have in other houses.
The SAN FRANCISCO house- I was definitely expecting this house to drop me. But I’m really glad they didn’t as I got a good impression of them from the first round and I feel like I would fit in well here.
The SAN DIEGO house- I was excited to see I would be going back here. Every girl who has rushed me was awesome and I hope to meet more of the same.
The CHICAGO house- Great experience at this house so far. Hope today goes as well!
The LONDON house- Probably at the top of my list at this point. I am going to try to go into this round with an open mind though. I have just felt welcomed and comfortable with these girls so far.
The LAS VEGAS house- Looking forward to this house today. My opinion of this house changed yesterday and I hope to meet more girls who I “click” with.

So that you guys don’t have to scroll up the thread to figure out which houses dropped me, I fill you in really quick.
The ROME house dropped me- I guess I should’ve seen this one coming. To be honest, I knew I wouldn’t fit in as a ROME, and I guess the girls who rushed me could see that too.
The NEW YORK house dropped me- This just broke my heart. They were by far my favorite house and I thought yesterday went well. I’m just trying to figure out why they dropped me….
The PARIS house dropped me- I thought that things went well at this house, so I was kind of surprised by this. This was another one of my favorite houses.

So, I guess this morning went ok. Of the 4 houses I still liked, 2 of them cut me. Its funny because one of the houses I had a horrible conversation at kept me. And the two houses that I thought I had the best parties at, cut me. Well everyone, keep your fingers crossed for me! I’ll know tomorrow after 1100am who has asked me back for prefs tomorrow night. Bye everyone!

Keep an open mind even though your favorites dropped you.
My daughter suicided (only listed one on her bid card ) and didn't get it. She thought that it was the only group that she could fit in with. Her Gamma Chi and I convinced her to accept a snap bid and she has been very happy. A year later she just completed her first rush from the other side.:)

My daughter is going through rush at Texas right now and the biggest piece of advice I gave her was to fall in love with three sororities, or whatever your number of pref parties is. Because for most women, if you took them out of their sorority and dropped them in their second or third choice and they never knew their first choice, they would love and have great experiences there. Every sorority has great girls in it and you will find fabulous friends wherever you land.

Just my opinion, of course.

Preferential invites
 

Hello again everyone. Just got back from getting my invites back to prefs round. Out of the 6 I went to yesterday, there were 2 that really stuck out to me as where I was supposed to be. Unfortunately, one of the 2 cut me. But out the 6 I went to for round 3, I was invited back to 5. I still have my top choice. So, unfortunately, I had to cut 2 houses, and this was the hardest cut I had to make. One house is the chapter my aunt belongs to, so I felt horrible cutting them as she had written me a rec. there but I knew it wasn’t for me. So tonight is prefs. And Im SO excited. Just for to sum up round 3:

The DALLAS house had a cute theme for their video, although this party made it more apparent to me that this wasn’t my home
The SAN FRANCISCO house was one of my top two choices. Their video had some of my favorite songs and did a really good job of expressing what the sisterhood meant to them
The SAN DIEGO house had an adorable video and was the only one I saw all day that was funny rather than sad and sentimental and gave me a good impression of the sisters.
The CHICAGO house had a really cute song and video.
The LONDON house is my other favorite. The video was adorable and had all the sisters who were seniors in tears. It meant a lot to me to see how much the sisterhood meant to these women.
The LAS VEGAS house had a cute song and video, although at the end of the video, it had a memoriam for one of their active sisters who passed away this summer and I almost cried and I didn’t even know her. I have liked this house a lot, but I don’t think it is the house for me.

So, for tonight, I’ll be returning to the SAN DIEGO house, the CHICAGO house, and the LONDON house. Unfortunately, I was cut from the SAN FRANCISCO house, but luckily, my top choice (LONDON) kept me around for Prefs! I cant wait for tonight. I have an absolutely gorgeous dress that I feel really comfortable in and I am looking forward to letting one particular house know how I feel about the experience I’ve had there so far. I’m hoping things go well tomorrow on bid day!!!:D

Prefs round
 

Ok everyone, prefs is over and I just got home from out final ranking session. Brief synopsis of Prefs round:

The LONDON house was the first house I went to. I cannot even explain to you how gorgeous this party was. I heard prior to the party that this house had hired a wedding decorator for prefs, and as soon as I got inside, I could tell the rumor was true. It was absolutely gorgeous! As soon as I left this house, I knew it was where I wanted to be. I actually cried during part of it!

The SAN DIEGO house was next. A good friend of mine from this chapter preffed me so I felt really comfortable right away. We had a good conversation but, after they finished their songs and speeches, it was just that much more apparent to me that this house didnt feel like home. I just loved all the girls here though!

The CHICAGO house was last. At this chapter, I was also preffed by a very close friend of mine and I got emotional because she kept crying because it all meant so much to her. It was really moving.

Coming into this round, I must say, I was certain that I would only accept a bid if it came from my "top choice." I am so glad I got to go through prefs though, because it made my decision so much clearer as for #2 and #3, and also made me realize that perhaps I could be just as happy at one of the other houses. So, as for tomorrow, I have to be on campus at 500pm for the PiChi reveals and Panhellenic Induction ceremony, and then a 600pm, we head to the field near sorority row to get our bid cards. From what I can gather, shortly after 600pm, the PiChis blow a horn, we open our bid envelopes and we race to our respectives new houses! (AKA: "Bulls run") So, sometime after 600pm tomorrow, I'll know where I will be. Unfortunately, I probably wont be able to get back to you all until Monday because we arent able to leave the houses tomorrow until midnight. But everyone wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed for me! I cant wait!:D
