Yeah, once it was explained to me, I could see how it would happen. GOOD JOB DG!

Here's some info I found for LAMBDA THETA ALPHA, a Latina sorority.
They have 68 undergraduate chapters (including one in my school). 7 alumnae chapters in Texas, California, Ney York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Florida. 4 Graduate chapters in New Jersey, Connecticut, Texas, and Maryland. The OMEGA chapter is reserved for deceased sisters. I don't know what this entails b/c I don't belong to this organization but I found it interesting. |
weird numbers
Those numbers are a little too weird on that second post...
The second post makes no sense... From what i've heard and have SEEN from the website you provided, there's no one with over 300 chapters right now in terms of fraternities... Where exactly did you get the numbers that you posted on this board? The Ariesrising numbers are on the following website which is a CLEAR LINK on the provided Ariesrising that displays most numbers of chapters and initiates: http://www3.telus.net/ariesrising/numbers.html That looks like the 1st one and is clearly labeled as updated to July 2004... OH, and BY THE WAY, EVERY Fraternity has WEAK chapters... I've seen WEAK TKE Chapters, WEAK SAE Chapters, WEAK Sig Ep Chapters, etc... ANd all 3 of those aformetioned are stong on my campus... It all depends on the school and the system... GO BEACH!!! GO T K E!!! (STILL the LARGEST FRATERNITY IN THE WORLD)... |

And yay for Phi Mu, which has a strong chapter at Auburn :) |
keep 'em strong
if you have a good chapter adviser, one who will come to most
of the meetings...and if you have a good board who meets...without exception...each month and has reports from... chapter president house manager & house mother, if applicable chapter treasurer (board the baddies, tho, bill collectors) rush chairman & pledge trainer pledge president, if possible and time permits... Advisers, board members, even old grouches like me...we really care...and we love our fraternity! We weep when we lose a chapter and have orphaned alumni...we really do. Help us to keep you a winner! Fraternity is for life. Do this, and you will win....for the rest of your life! |
To confirm KD has over 180,000 members.
We have 487 chartered Alumnae Assoc. Chapters (almost at 500!) I do believe that we do have 127 active college chapters and we have 207 chartered chapters. |

Sigma Kappa actually publishes our annual report with a lot of this information on the public section of our website. Its not completely up to date but according to the 2002-2003 annual report we have:
108 collegiate chapters 8,335 collegiate members (which if you do the math means we have an average chapter size of about 77.) We also have 145 active alumnae chapters and clubs. As of June 1, 2003, there were 135,862 total members. Oh and for whoever was asking about retention and gpa, we had an 85% initiation rate and the averge gpa was 3.02. Now wouldn't it be great if every org released this information? |
Sigma Alpha Iota
# of active college chapters: 200ish # of active alum chapters: about 120 Total # of initiates since 1903: about 100,000 Not sure how many active members; I'll look into that. |

(no offense to either Sigma Chis or TKE's, just saying that since every group has weak chapters, I just so happen to be able to point to a couple that would fall in that category. I know that there are some equally weak Beta chapters and would never pretend to believe otherwise.) |

This is late but I was looking for this thread after reading the Delta Zeta article. Not sure how they are the second largest if you include NPHC sororities but for the record Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated has about 950 undergraduate and alumnae chapters and has initiated 250,000 plus women since 1913. Every organization in the NPHC, except Iota Phi Theta which was founded a significant time after the other 8 orgs (but still have about 50K members) membership totals exceeds 100K.

Jesus is huge in america.
|
As of March, 2004, we had 137,947 initiated members, 180 collegiate chapters (111 of which are active) and 120 alumnae chapters/clubs (only active ones counted there), but they didn't include Junior Circles (our 35 and under groups) because they are 'attached' to one of the other chapters/clubs.
I have to assume that chapters have had recruitment and initiation since March '04, so the total initiated members would increase. This is why it's difficult to keep numbers updated! Dee |
ok this may sound dumb, but i read a few posts about fraternities endowments... what exactly are those?
|
also, according to an email i received the other day this is the information on phi sigma sigma:
Currently, Phi Sigma Sigma has over 55,000 initiated members worldwide, with 107 collegiate chapters and colonies and 35 alumnae groups across North America. |
We only have 6! We're brand new though, and our campus only has 500 people. We're hoping to rush 3 this semester, and at least 5 next semester though...we're local, so no min requirements!

23 active sisters, I'd venture to say around 5,000 initiated members, 80+ years, 1 chapter, 1 sisterhood, 1 love to bind us. Go Tau Delta!
|
Lambda Chi Alpha has about 250,000 maybe close to 260,000 now...If I read the minutes from General Fraternity right...whatever it is...."We're kinda of a big Deal, People know Us!"- Ron Burgundy???

DG facts according to our website (last updated on June 16, 2005):
Number of collegiate chapters: 144 (+ one colony) Number of alumnae groups: 267 Number of Delta Gamma collegians: 14,000 [not sure if this is an estimate since it's way too round of a number] Average collegiate chapter size: 100 Largest chapters: Alpha Psi-Mississippi: 266 Gamma Zeta-Louisiana State: 233 Alpha Iota-Oklahoma: 228 Mu-Missouri: 213 Alpha Nu-Southern California: 197 |
The actual numbers of members haven't been updated on our Fraternity website, but Kappa Kappa Gamma now has 130 active collegiate chapters due to the installation of Eta Iota - Creighton University and voluntary surrender of the Zeta Upsilon (Ga. Southern) and Epsilon Iota (U. Puget Sound) charters.
Kappa is very selective in their colonization/reestablishment process, averaging about one new chapter per year. |

That is just the TKE chapter at your school. Other places they are different, so for you to make that statement upon a whole national organization is not cool. It is like someone saying PIKE is not a good organization because the chapter at Sac State lose at everything and they have 10 guys |
I am 5 feet 2 inches tall. A lady never gives her weight or age except at the doctor's office. Sorry I could not resist that one!
Oh we are talking about GLO numbers.....my national GLO numbers has already been mentioned.;) |

SisterGreek, I was going to ask the same question however I remembered that (I have observed and been told) that most folks who join NPC's and IFC/NIC orgs aren't typically concerned with the national reputation. It's chapter personality that's more important. It really does depend on the school they attend and what greek life is like there. Just different dynamics.:) |
yeah i was going to comment on that...
