I've been so busy chasing these boys around that I haven't had much time to do anything else.

I was also in the step show. That's why I asked if you were in it. I wish I would have known which one you were so I could have sreamed your name. I stepped with Chicago Alumnae. I was the one they had the camera on when we paused and made the ugly, fighter pose. That was my big mug up on the big screen. :eek: It was a little embarassing to walk around Vegas and people stop me and say, "Hey! You're the girl with the ugly face!" ~lol

Thank you so much! I had so much fun that night. Will you believe that we had to totally recreate our show in four hours. UPS neglected to send the box that had ALL of our props. All we had were the poles for the ring and the backdrops. EVERYTHING else was gone. No gloves, buckets, stools, rope for the ring, NOTHING! It was a mess. We literally finished finding and making everything over at 6:58pm. By the time we got on stage, I didn't care if we even placed. I was just so proud of how we stuck together and figured out how to improvise.

I heard about that right after the show, when everyone was stading in the lobby...Sororizing;) :D I remember a Soror from Chicago talking to other sorors about it. You all did well, very well. I thought the concept was very good. I had always heard good things about Chi Alum's step team, and to see it first hand was wonderful:D

I thought the winning teams all did great. I loved the concepts and was happy to see folks from around the country doing their thing, and to see Vashti lay hands on folks.

But yeah if folks are stepping let us know. We're loud and happy to track folks down. I had to do that with a DN buddy after Ft. Worth finished stepping.

Ok, I am really pissed now to know that you were stepping with Chicago Alum, and I can't remember what the person looked like that made the mug face:(

That's good you can't remember the ugly mug face! :D I have pictures from after the show in my Yahoo! Photo Album but I don't know how to post them. The link wouldn't work.

Deltas at national convention

Approximately 15,000 Deltas were in Las Vegas recently for the 47th National Convention. The 22nd National President, Gwendolyn E. Boyd, presided and gave an eloquent and spiritual message on helping the connection, building on the past and focusing on the future.

There were many vitalizing events. The Ecumenical Worship Service was presented by the Inspirational National Chaplain Bishop Vasti M. McKenzie. Regional President Cynthia R. Boyd presided at the Southern Regional Luncheon (all wore red hats). Awards were given to past National presidents. Erica Dunlap, Miss America 2004, spoke about her travels and activities. The keynote speaker for the Social Action Luncheon was Roderick Paige, U.S. Education Secretary; and Stacy Stewart, President and CEO for the Fannie Mae Foundation, spoke for the business workshop.

The Program and Planning Development Workshop featured a leadership Delta graduation - a signature program for collegiates who are juniors and seniors in the field of math and engineering. Some other workshops were attended by Ocala members: Gwendolyn Haynes, June Dailey, Tonya Epps, Grace Corbett, Shirley Wright and others.

Honorary members inducted included Sheryl Lee Ralph, actress, producer and AIDS activist; Johnnie Blakeney-Rowlinson, the first woman and African American to serve on federal district and appeals courts in Nevada, and Suzzanee Douglas, actress in "Parent Hood."

Special music performances included a gospel concert featuring the Rev. Hezkiah and the Love Fellowship Choir and Signature gala, Frankie Beverly and Maze. Camille Cosby was hostess for the celebrity debut for Author Soror Edna Lee Long Green's book of Delta-style recipes, "Occasion Savor."

The announcement was made the 47th National Convention Banquet will be added to the Guinness World Book of Records for being the largest group to be served at a sit-down dinner.

Thanks for posting that article Soror Kim. Does anyone know how I can get a video tape of the stepshow or any other events from the convention?

I'm doing ok. I'm unpacking everything so it's just like I moved back in all over again. My line sisters are fine. Only one had a little crisis with her house, but, I will call her today to find out if it has yet been resolved. Thank God Jamaica didn't get Ivan dead on (no pun intended). Damage to Kingston was minimal, but, some other areas got it hard. It just leaves us imagining what it would have been like had we been hit directly.

Glad to know that you and everyone else is ok.

Sorors.....they were simply BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Or school newspaper just came out and it says that you alls 23rd President Dr. Louise A. Rice recieved here bachelor's degree from Tuskegee. It is also where she became a member of the Gamma Tau chapter in 1961.
