I know its sad how many chapters have been closed,
I am currently at the Theta Iota @ FAU and I need to transfer to FSU and AXID got kick out and I dont know what to dooo!! I dont want to leave my sister or not be able to be part of Alpha Xi Delta anymore. =[ |
You'll still be an Alpha Xi .. you just won't be in an active chapter you'll be an alumnae

I think I found a correction!
I was looking on ebay, and there's a bade from Beta Lambda that's marked 1942. I came here to see what chapter was Beta Lambda, and saw that it's Penn State. However, I noticed that on this list, we have Beta Lambda listed as being founded in 1943. So, I went to the Penn State chapter website, and according to their chapter history section, they were founded on campus in 1942. No big deal, just something I found. And I guess that would make this badge a charter member's badge? http://cgi.ebay.com/10K-Alpha-Xi-Del...item5d27662f87 ETA: I creeped on the PSU AXiD website and contacted someone from exec. I wanted to let them know about it...maybe if they had some extra cash they could bid on it and they can use it as the chapter president's badge? Long shot, I know, but why not! |
hi all!
Im also a new chatter but just wanted to say hi! Im from Epsilon Lambda chapter =]:p |
Any idea why they all closed? I'm from the Epsilon Xi chap @ UMSL and noticed that there were once 5 chapters in Missouri. Now there are only two...

There are any number of reasons why an individual chapter may close - low numbers, risk management issues, or things that are out of members' control, like campus culture, a lack of administration's support, not enough interest in Greek Life on campus, lack or loss of housing, the economy, etc. Some chapters closed during times when Greek life wasn't so popular, and they didn't return. There are so many variables that can lead to a chapter's closing. It happens. |
Ok sorry for swerving off subject completely, just wanted to say woohoo!! Zeta Chi chapter got the award for most improved chapter!! Love Alpha Xis :)

Recently I had a lot of extra time so I decided to make a Google Map with all Alpha Xi Delta chapters ever :) It was a lot of work, but I really enjoyed it and it made me feel really connected to the sisters everywhere. It includes dormant chapters, and when you click on any one of the pins, it brings up any information I had on the chapter (Name, school, year founded (and years active if currently dormant) and chapter website). If you think there's information that I should add, just let me know in a message or something!

WOW thanks .. that was a lot of work but how useful ... now I just need to figure out how to link it to the Tucson Alumnae Facebook page ...
Updated for the 3 colonies in fall 2011 and updated the URLs for the chapter web pages
It's so awesome to see that we have so many chapters and learning history! It would be cool if they could get the Alpha Chapter back at Knox/Lombard!
I'm from University of Texas-beta alpha chapter and I'd love to see more Texas A xi d chapters like at Texas A&M, Tech or SMU. Also I agree with what someone stated earlier, we should look into re-opening chapters at the big Greek schools like Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and other big state schools.

Epsilon Kappa chapter at WKU is being installed today. I'm so happy to be here with so many sisters for this exciting day.
AZ-AlphaXi, enjoy your special day on the Hill! Go Tops!
Beta Upsilon chapter at the University of Rhode Island was re-installed yesterday. Congratulations to all the new Alpha Xi Deltas!
^^Woo hoo! So many installations! Which makes me realize that my installation at Kappa was super late in the year, compared to these (March 14!)
I will be at Iota Rho's installation at DePaul this coming Saturday/Sunday. WOO HOO! |
Have a good time! I wish I could be there, but I don't think FHQ is going to pony up the $1500 for a flight. Just sayin. One of these days...
@lovespink88 - have fun at DePaul this weekend.. installations are so much fun!
Congratulations to the VCU colony on their installation today as Iota Sigma chapter!

Updated the list to include the 2016 colonizations.

Could you maybe put the word COLONY in red or something, so those chapters pop out? Thanks!

Zeta Omicron Univ. Of Florida 1981 - 2001
I was a Charter Member of this chapter. Sad to have seen it close, but being a charter member can never be taken away! Did the National office take back the group pics from all the initiations? Would hate for them to have been lost/destroyed. |
Florida is one of a handful of chapters I'd really like to see recolonized. But we have some HUGE schools on the docket, and we certainly don't want to risk any success by spreading our resources too thin. But Florida, Bama, Wisconsin, dare I also add Michigan and USC (and UC Irvine and Chapman!), would all be great. Needless to say, I'm not the most patient woman on the planet.
Idk, I know expansion is an expensive (sometimes obscenely so) and complicated process, but I'd love to get a better foothold in the SEC. Bama, Georgia, Florida, LSU and Ole Miss are my hopes, someday.
Congratulations to Iota Tau at Bucknell on their installation today!
Just updated the chapter listing with the URL for the website for the fall 2014 colony at Oklahoma State Univ.
Congratulation to the Beta Theta colony at Michigan State on their reinstallation!!
I’m currently watching the State/Carolina game and was just thinking wow, wouldn’t it be great to have an AXiD chapter at Carolina as well as NC State since Carolina is open for expansion. :D
^ fingers crossed we present!
Congratulations to the Temple University colony on being installed this weekend as Iota Chi Chapter!!

The edit button seems to have disappeared from previous posts, so I can't update the chapter list .. It was just announced that Alpha Xi Delta will be recolonizing our Zeta Chapter at Wittenberg in Spring 2016.
WOOHOO!
It looks like the edit button for old posts may be permanently gone. Any ideas on what
would be useful? I can recopy the entire post every time in the same (this) thread, I can start a new thread (dated?) for every change, something else? |
