The1calledTKE 07-21-2004 03:46 PM

Yep father daughter were the best. I guess I will cheer for the midget or the twins.

ADPiShannan 07-21-2004 03:49 PM

Im going for Colin and Christie since my fave dad/daughter were gone last night. I actually got all misty when they were talking at the end.

I will def not root for the midget and cousin, the christin couple, or the bros. I dont like any of those 3 teams. I pray one of them gets eliminated this next week.

GeoffZ 07-21-2004 04:59 PM

The Dad & Daughter team coming in last sucked. I wanted the Brothers to go. Those guys are dicks. I'm not liking Brandon and Nicole either. They form alliances and then screw over the people they're supposed to be helping.

The Twins still get on my nerves.

I still can't tell Nicole and Christie apart.

Charla and Mirna are a bit annoying. But they make me laugh. I loved the look Charla gave her when she was worrying how her hair looked for Phil.

valkyrie 07-23-2004 03:24 AM

Finally, I watched the episode...

I can't believe that anybody likes Colin. I think he's a total ass -- I mean, who says "We have to beat the midget!" He's just the kind of arrogant guy who gets on my nerves.

I'm super bummed to see Marsha and Jim go, so I'm cheering for Chip & Kim and Bob & Joyce, and I have to say I think Mirna and Charla are by far the most entertaining team so I hope they make it far.

ms_gwyn 07-23-2004 05:10 AM

I'm in the minority here.....

when I first saw the previews for the show....i was certain that i was going to love the brothers (my instincts were wrong).....I cant stand them.

I absolutely LOVE Charla and Mirna, they are my favorite team. It also helps that they love Phil just as much as I do. I say...hey use EVER advantage you can in this race, because that is what is going to get you over the finish line first. Why fault them for it? They are also very good at the racing, detours and road blocks, if jumping on a cart to get them there faster is ok and not a violation of the rules...why get mad...because they were first in doing it? The other racers did the same thing.

I do know that I cant stand
The Brothers (Marshall/Lance) - the comments they were making
The Models (Brandon/Nicole) - they screwed too many people in such a short amount of time, esp after people took the time to stop and see if they needed any help and WAITED FOR THEM...ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

No other couples have been stand outs in my eyes, IF Charla and Mirna happen to get eliminated I will find someone new I hope.
I like each of the rest for something different.

It was very sad that the Daddy/Daughter Team (Jim/Marsha) got eliminated I did like them and perhaps they were my second favs.

That caviar looks so disgusting!

Is it just me or has nobody taken a Fast Forward yet?

nobody has yet. are they even doing that this year? i thought i heard it mentioned in the first episode. alsom what happened to the 'yield' option that was in the first episode?

Sister Havana 07-27-2004 10:54 PM

And Mirna smooches on Phil again. That cracks me up.

adduncan 07-27-2004 11:41 PM

The road block is chowing down on the best caviar in the world?

Boo - freakin' - hoo!!!!!!

I love the stuff. It's part of my annual birthday celebration. :D

Seriously, there was one thing that was really off - you *never* serve or eat caviar w/ metal utensils. Totally destroys the taste. I'm guessing the restaurant knows this (even if the producers dont') so they may have upped the "gross" factor on purpose.

(And they were washing it down w/ plain water? What, no Stoli? ;) )

--add

ms_gwyn 07-28-2004 07:38 AM

some of them had the vodka earlier ;)

I do have to say that eating that much cavier is a bit much....and yes with metal.....these are NOT good combinations and it was awfully.....*slippery*

I dont like the stuff, when I was young i mistook them for really, really small grapes (I was very young), so i developed an aversion, just like me with pumpkin pie, I thought it was sweet potato...yuck, never to this day have I've eaten pumpkin pie (and NO they do not taste the same).

I was also wondering if it was "lower quality", but since it is Russia, I'm sure the prices were reasonable.

Chip and Kim are officially my second favorites in the race.

I do have to say that even though I didnt enjoy Nichole suffering, it did have some sort of justice to it.

i was cracking up too. i wonder what Phil's wife is thinking?

colin and christie are my new favorites. i want them to win

AOTTAdvisor 07-28-2004 10:20 AM

Another great episode but I agree with everyone and the cavier--suck it up and EAT IT!! Could they put it on bread or something(I thought I saw Kami eating bread with it)? And I would have totally eaten a big bite, chugged water and kept on going!
Still liking Colin and Christie but so sad that Joyce and Bob got eliminated. I, of course, teared up at the end when they were talking about how much they loved each other.
Still not a fan of the pizza brothers or Brandon and Nicole. I LOVED how Nicole wanted to do the shot and Brandon was like "Nicki--its not God's plan for us to do shots". When she was dying with the cavier, I was thinking "Maybe if you would have been a little drunk, that cavier would have been a little easier!".
I guess my other faves are the bowling mom's. They just seem to truly like each other, which is nice!
Can't wait for next week!

ztabchbum 07-28-2004 11:29 AM

I was sad to see Bob and Joyce go - they gave it a good run though.

I really don't like Charla and Mirna the more I watch and I could care less about Brandon and Nicole. I think Colin and Christie are my new favorites.

My boyfriend and I talked about the caviar thing last night. I so would not be able to do it and he said he would have gone at it just like Chip - chug it down and get it over with!

There's no way I would have done the hockey thing either - it wouldn't be hard to convince my boyfriend to do the shots either...he'd be asking for seconds. :D

GeoffZ 07-28-2004 01:19 PM

The caviar eating was more dramatic then it needed to be....with the crying, shaky hands, and almost passing out. I honestly thought Christie wasn't going to be able to do it.

Yay for Chip and Kim for finally coming in first place!!

valkyrie 07-28-2004 02:50 PM

Christian floofy hair boy just needs to go. I really don't understand the whole the lord doesn't want me to drink vodka but it's totally, like, okay to screw over other teams thing. I don't like Colin at all, either. I still think he's an arrogant brat. The pizza brothers are obnoxious.

Chip and Kim are definitely my favorite, followed by Charla and Mirna. They're fun.

i was annoyed by that too.

side note- the only thing i like about the brothers is that they call Charla and Mirna, 'Mirna and Smirna'. that is funny.

kateshort 07-29-2004 06:49 PM

Gah. I finally was able to read the TWOP summary of last week's ep (which I and my husband missed, grr!), only to find that the dad and daughter had been eliminated.

This week was partially hilarious, though disgusting.

Oh my god re: the caviar. That was nasty. Some of you were saying that people could have just sucked it up? Y'all must be some big eaters!

I went to lunch today, had spaghetti carbonarra (yum!) and could only have about a six ounce portion of it, and about two ounces of salad. That's a half-pound of food. I truly can't eat any more than that without feeling full (and I'm 5'1" and 145 lbs; I'm not a skinny girl like the first two chicks were...). My husband can pack away about a pound of food before he has to stop.

Now, these people are trying to eat *two times* as much as my husband could eat, and *four and a half times* as much as I could normally eat at a single sitting. Plus they were drinking a *lot* of water to get it down, since it's usually extremely salty. I'm not even remotely surprised that people were getting the shakes and that the one girl just went green. Besides, a little caviar may be good, but having huge clumps like that, like a huge salty snot-loogie, is just *nasty*. Your body is likely to rebel to that much food and that much saltiness, period.

Half of it was the fact that the tiny skinny girls were the ones who were doing the challenge. The heavier contestants-- the mom, the brother, and Chip-- weren't doing too badly, but they didn't like it either. I don't know how Charla could get it all in there. I was amazed.

If I ever want to apply for TAR, just remind me of the caviar, and I'll back away quietly. :)

[Side note: I'm now strangely rooting for Chip and Kim, and once Colin realized that Christie was in near-breakdown mode, he went from insistent team member to concerned and caring boyfriend and was pretty tender with her. It would have been sweet if she wasn't gagging... poor thing]

smiley21 08-03-2004 10:30 PM

when colin and christie did the fast forward, i cannot believe they started arguing. it was hilarious to see that man shaking his head. they are still my favorite team though

whoa. that new twist at the end is crazy. the last team has to empty their pockets and start the next leg of the race with no money:eek: that is rough

TheEpitome1920 08-03-2004 11:11 PM

Why do people talk slower when they are in foreign lands?? Like talking slower or with a bogus accent will make them understand you better??

Yeah....I told my mom that now there is no way that I would apply for TAR (she agreed, saying that if I was the team that happened to, I'd start panicking!)

GeoffZ 08-04-2004 02:18 AM

Why did Chip have to help the evil Twins?! They would have left him in the desert if the roles had been reversed. He's too nice. I like the new "empty your pockets" twist.

phisigduchesscv 08-04-2004 02:43 AM

I missed it. What happened this week?

ztabchbum 08-04-2004 09:55 AM

AH! Those poor bowling moms! I think it's great that they're still in the game and I hope they can bump out those damn twins!

I was *so* happy to see the moms get an extension, evil though it may be to take all of their dough.

Glad that Chip and Kim and the twins seem to have made up, for now... It'll cost Chip, though.

LOL at Colin and Christie arguing. Classic. They don't have the Luck of the Evil, though.

My husband believes that Mirna and Charla have the Luck of the Annoying, though. [Charla isn't evil.]

As for speaking more slowly-- yes! it helps! Accents and speaking LOUD do nothing, but speaking slowly definitely helps. I couldn't make out most French when I was overseas, but when people were talking slowly, like a *good* tour guide or a patient ticket agent, I could understand about 80% of what they meant, and 50% of what they were actually saying.

As a follow-up to last week: my husband saw an article (on Television Without Pity, I think) that the kilo of caviar was approximately 2800 calories, and the salt/sodium was around seven times the recommended daily allowance. So seven times the salt and over twice the calories that I have in an average day, eaten in one sitting. Bleaurgh.

Sister Havana 08-05-2004 01:01 PM

That new twist is crazy. I would hate to be the team that comes in late!

We haven't seen anyone use the yield...the only time we've even seen that option was in the first episode, when Alison and Donny passed by it but decided not to use it. I wonder if anyone will.

Am I the only one who kind of likes the twins?

AXO4Life 08-05-2004 02:22 PM

I'm happy the bowling moms aren't out, but I’m so upset that Charla & Mirna are still in it....they both make me angry. Mirna because she keeps yelling at Charla to run faster and keep up(she's a midget for gosh sakes!) and because she keeps refusing to do challenges (I'm scared of small places...you, my handicapped friend, can crawl down that dark well and drag up a heavy bag from the water). I also hate Charla, tho, because she uses her "short" excuse too often, and then gets upset when the people around her don't fall for it!

ANYWAYS, This is by far my favorite reality show (and pretty much the only one I watch), and I can't wait for next week's episode!!

TheEpitome1920 08-05-2004 02:25 PM

There's a difference between speaking slowly and talking to people like they are stupid. I've been overseas before and I don't see the point.

How do they expect them to get around with no money??

No...I like them, too :p :D

And I think people have mentioned before, Blake & Paige (on AR2? 3?) had to beg for money when Blake lost the team wallet, so it IS possible to get around with no money.

what if Paris and Nicole were on AR? they have experience with begging for money:)

Sister Havana 08-05-2004 05:34 PM

I remember Blake and Paige begging too. I thought someone else had to do it as well in another season.

Granted, it wasn't a race, but I remember the first few seasons of Road Rules they made a bigger deal about taking the money and credit cards and things and the cast had to do different things to earn money. I also remember the cast of Road Rules Europe being broke between money-earning missions and having to go on the street and beg and wash car windows for money.

queequek 08-06-2004 12:20 AM

Did anyone catch on where they would go next week after Egypt? I totally missed it (or didn't I?)

mmcat 08-06-2004 07:35 AM

the bowling moms, if anyone, can pull off the begging thing with some humor.

Sister Havana 08-11-2004 12:46 AM

Did anyone catch tonight's show? Man, that digging for the scarab would have driven me nuts! I am glad the bowling moms didn't get eliminated. I'd forgotten the brothers were behind them!

valkyrie 08-11-2004 02:12 AM

I love love love Chip and Kim. Chip is so FUNNY. It's nice to see funny instead of cocky assholery (and by that I mean Colin). I like Charla but Mirna is really a freak.

polarpi 08-11-2004 02:57 AM

Can Colin and Christie just go home now? I know I'm gonna have to deal with them for at least another two weeks, because likely the next week will be a NEL, so (fingers crossed) the next elimination round the Double C's will be gone!

I still love Kami and Karli (yes, I know I'm in the minority) and Chip and Kim are great as well. I'm glad the bowling moms beat out the brothers this week (but I still want to see them eliminated, they bug me, just not as much as C&C), and I can deal with Mirna and Charla and Brandon and Nicole. Next week looks to be rather interesting!

mmcat 08-11-2004 07:42 AM

mvp honors so far to sharla....
she's running her little legs off and doing everything asked of her beautifully.

ztabchbum 08-11-2004 09:20 AM

I was actually really touched by the brother's last night. They really tried as hard as they could but the one's knee's just couldn't do it. They made it pretty far in the race and even though they quit they did with good intentions.

Charla and Mirna need to go as do Karla and Kami. Chip and Kim are rubbing off on me and I like Colin and Christi as well. Way to go to the Bowling Mom's for staying in the fight for at least one more week. :)

I agree completely. Right now, I'm pulling for Colin and Christi. As much as I wanted the pizza brothers to go, I was sorry that they went due to what appeared to be a really painful injury. I really wanted Mirna be eliminated last night.

Do you think so? Seems to me he's (1) very competative and can get stressed under pressure, and (2) won't take being messed with. (Mirna? Mirna?) But he's probably done more to help other teams than any other player except Chip (who, as much as I like him, I'm miffed at for telling the twins where the next clue was at the pyramids instead of telling them how to figure it out themselves). While everyone else last night was pocketing their scarabs so no one else could see them, Colin showed his to Brandon (and maybe Kim) so that Brandon (and Kim?) would know what to look for. One reason Colin and Christie have been ahead is because they have done favors for others and had chits to call in.

I figure if Mirna says he's annoying and juvenile, then he must be an okay guy.

AOTTAdvisor 08-11-2004 10:50 AM

Well, I didn't like Chip and Kim till last night but now they are totally growing on me! I think they are super sweet and just get so excited about everything.
I still like Colin and Christie--I just feel they are the most normal of the "dating/models". What the hell was Brandon doing taking his shirt off? You can't do a shot but you can get half naked on TV? What would Jesus do with that???
I was glad the Pizza Brothers got voted off. I thought they were way to cocky and not so nice, so I think there time had come. Still not a fan of Kami and Karli.
Still LOVING Charla and Mirna way more than I ever thought. I thought Mirna really stepped it up last night with the goat carrying and digging. And I was DYING when Charla was having no problem going through the tunnels because she was so short!!
I am glad the bowling mom's are still in it--they deserved it for making it there with no money.
But did anyone think it was just WAY TO conincendental that the plane ended up leaving late, so everyone just happened to make it???
