We might just have to work out a sharing schedule. I get Monday, wednesday, and Friday. You get Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Hal gets a day of rest on Sunday.

Jaggergirl 07-15-2004 04:52 PM

grrr. I still haven't had a chance to watch this show and its driving me nuts!

I'll have to reserve all of Sunday afternoon (or whenever they decide to marathon it) to watch them.

smiley21 07-15-2004 09:28 PM

LOL. i remember the year of the Mentos mints. when i was in middle school, my class was a bunch of addicts. we ate Mentos like it was going out of style. some people would eat it for lunch. it was freaky.

anyone remember Foo Fighters' video for 'Big Me'? it was a series of Mentos commercials. IMO, it was their best video. it is hilarious.

One of the commentators mentioned that it's been 13 years since "O.P.P" first came out.

I felt sick to my stomach when he said that.

tinydancer 07-15-2004 10:28 PM

I'm laughing at the Spice Girls because they irritated me so much. Scary Spice - what was so scary about her?? She annoyed me so much that I just wanted to kick her azz all around the block.:p

lyrica9 07-16-2004 04:31 AM

so excited about HANSON! being on 97.
now people can see that they
a) no longer resemble girls
b) no longer are pre-pubescent.
hell, taylor, the most feminine, the lead singer, is married and has a son.

im a teenybopper but oh well.
i loves me some hanson boys.

(i'm a little bit embarassed that i did indeed know all the badu ba dops of the mmmbop chorus...)

smiley21 07-16-2004 11:20 AM

oh lord, you know what is going to be in 1998?.....the "Titanic" craze:rolleyes:

i thank God that i never fell into that trap. i never wanted to see that movie. not that my movie money would have made a difference in the box office:rolleyes:

Well Madonna was discussed with the Sex book, so that's enough Madonna for a whole decade. ;) I don't remember the other decades really discussing the Presidents really.

Her hair was pretty scary...

33girl 07-18-2004 10:16 PM

Damn you to eternal fiery hell, I Love the 90's: 1999. I now have "Summer Girls" by LFO stuck in my head. GRRRRRRRRRRRR.

cuaphi 07-18-2004 10:22 PM

I watched random parts of random episodes and I think they were being WAY too nice to Michael Bolton and Wilson Phillips. Ian Ziering from 90210 said something like "You gotta admit the man can sing." I submit this as exhibit A that's it's too soon to do this. You need perspective to mock.

smiley21 07-18-2004 10:47 PM

speaking of 90210, i bought the pilot episode on DVD yesterday. i hope this means that the first season DVD is right around the corner.
it was funny watching the pilot episode. i was 8 years old when it came out! even so, my friends in the third and forth grades thought the show was so cool. ......the memories *sigh*

FiReKraCkEr 07-18-2004 11:27 PM

I loved the "Mentos, the freshmaker" part....

I miss those commericals!

amgn253 07-19-2004 12:59 AM

I am lovin' this series. I also adored the 70s, 80s, and 80s strikes back shows. I heard they're doing an I Love the 90s: Part Deux. Cool! I would definitely buy the series if it came out on DVD.

amgn253 07-19-2004 01:06 AM

Sorry! Double post!:o

hannahgirl 07-19-2004 07:25 AM

While watching 99, I was really surprised that they didn't mention Columbine at all..... That was a huge thing back then. They talked about Marilyn Manson and trench coats, but no school shootings?? hmmmm

how could you be surprised? this is 'i love the 90s'. it is supposed to be a fun time of remembering the decade. we are looking back and laughing at everything. they can't mention Columbine on a show like that. it would change the whole mood and be kinda direspectful of those who went through it. we can joke about Marilyn and the silly people that wore trench coats. but Columbine? come on, lets think about what we are saying people.

my 2 cents

hannahgirl 07-19-2004 08:45 AM

true I guess I didn't think about it that way....

but please, throw out your 2 cents but without the attitude. i'm not trying to start anything ( i never do ) but geez....

Lil' Hannah 07-19-2004 09:29 AM

Michael Ian Black doing the "Where's the Media Gadfly" bit was great. It is also great when he's like "I'm a C list star. Look at me, I'm doing commentary for VH1." I'm surprised VH1 aired that, but it was hilarious.

PoohsHoneyBee 07-19-2004 09:32 AM

I wanna see it!! I only got to see a little bit last night.

The whole LATIN music craze.

I think they were both during whatever year Waldo was in. I know the Media Gadfly bit was...they put Mo Rocca's face over Waldo's. 'Twas LOLville, USA.

I'm sure that won't be a problem. Every time I turn on VH1 they are showing it! :)

Perhaps this is why Kurt Cobain's suicide wasn't mentioned? **shrugs**

I am glad they are putting out a part deux because even some of the funny stuff was missing.

What about the Beavis and Butthead movie??? Titanic??? And since we are on the topic of part deux... Hot Shots?

kateshort 07-19-2004 03:56 PM

My husband and I watched/taped/watched most of it on Saturday, then caught 1992, 1995, and 1999 yesterday. Dorks that we are, we forgot to watch the first 20 minutes of 1991. I can probably tape it on Wednesday when they rerun the whole thing AGAIN.

One question-- what's the name/artist of the song that they sometimes had during the end credits-- "come on, come on, come on down and dance with me"? We were both loving the beat and the chord progression, and we hadn't heard it before.

(We never watch MTV or VH1 except for these specials...)

WCUgirl 01-17-2005 01:17 PM

*bump*

I love the 90's, part deux starts tonight! They're going to have an episode every night this week at 9.

efcheerBB 01-17-2005 01:24 PM

I think that they slipped up. Yesterday I saw I love 1990. I though it was funny. I can't wait to see the rest of the shows.

chideltjen 01-18-2005 02:05 PM

I watched last night. These shows are a lot better when you watch it in a big group of people.

I didn't remember the show "Cop Rock" though. My boyfriend remembered it... but no one else did.

ETA: I *HEART* Hal Sparks! He's my favorite!

VH1 has stuff besides this? I thought they were changing their name to the Snarky Pop Culture Commentary Channel.

AOIIalum 01-18-2005 11:56 PM

Tonight is the 1993 episode. I was thrilled to see Rob Paulsen (voice of Yakko Warner and Pinky) on during the Animaniacs/Pinky and the Brain segment. "Narf!"

I saw the 1991 and 1993 episodes.

Both great.

Seeing the Video of Anthrax and Public Enemy doing "Bring the Noise" was great.

Tippiechick 01-20-2005 02:17 AM

You know, looking solely at my high school yearbook from 1995, I think, "How did I EVER let myself out of the house looking like that? I looked like complete crap."

Then, I watch the 1995 episode and I feel SO much better about my sophomore/junior year! I wasn't the only one in fashion hell. It was actually in style!?!

Funny stuff.

And yes Sandy, I, too feel depressed that OPP came out that long ago. ;)

---- Having the guts to admit she loved NKOTB and big bangs, dabbled in grunge for a millisecond, and wanted to be like Jennie Garth.

abaici 01-20-2005 02:52 AM

It's all about 1994. I forgot all about Michael Fay. I had to find out what he was up too!

chideltjen 01-20-2005 12:45 PM

We caught '94 and '95 last night. My boyfriend and his roommate are big Matrix fans and were SHOCKED that Carrie Ann Moss was on Models Inc. I completely forgot about that show. I used to watch it with my mom as a kid. Right after Melrose Place. And then Pricilla, Queen of the Desert wasn't what I thought it was. And to have Hugo Weaving show up on screen... freaky.

And all the things that I complained about them leaving out last time around have suddenly shown up in these episodes. Vh1 seems to get it right the second time around, it seems.

:( I still want to be like Jennie Garth.

I wish FX would bring back the 90210 reruns. I'm having withdrawals.
