I had one of those I-feel-like-a-donkey moments today.
Our cable and internet hasn't been working since Hurricane Frances came through. We tried resetting the cable box and unplugging it but it still wouldn't work. After arguing with Bright House (cable provider) to come out ASAP since it was their problem, we got their first available appointment which was today. Important part of this story right here: After Frances tore a hole in our roof, roomie had to move a bunch of stuff out of her room. She had a TV in there that she had to move out. On with the story.... So, I went home at lunch to wait for Mr. Cable Guy. Mr. Cable Guy had to go up into our attic, play with our cable wirings, reset our cable, do all this technical stuff, etc. and still couldn't figure out what was going on. About 30 minutes later, he walked into the kitchen which is where I was sitting. Mr. Cable Guy: (points to my roomie's TV that is sitting on the floor) What room did that use to be in? ZTAngel: My roommate's room. Mr. Cable Guy goes to the TV and removes a silver amplifier. He had a look of 'you have got to be kidding me' on his face. He walked in my roommate's room and plugged it in. All the sudden, our cable and internet started working again after two weeks of being without it. ZTAngel: It was that easy?! Mr. Cable Guy: (annoyed) Yeah, looks like your roommate removed the amplifier while moving her TV which provides cable for the whole house. ZTAngel: (shocked and feeling like an idiot) I'm soooooo sorry. I guess roomie thought the amplifier was part of her TV since the cable wire attached into it and then to her TV. Poor guy wasted an hour of his day only to find out that the cable wasn't working because the residents are airheads. So, as he was leaving, I decided to throw in a joke to lighten the mood. "So, I guess this means Bright House isn't going to credit us for those two weeks we've been without cable? Tee-hee!" He had a look on his face that was somewhere between 'I want to strangle this girl' and 'Maybe I should just accidently cut their outside cable line as a payback'. He just mummbled something like, "No, we're not crediting you." Ehh, it was worth a try. On a happy note, I have my cable and internet back! :D |
LMAO! That totally sounds like something that would happen with me! Oh, I feel for you and Bright House. But don't feel bad for Bright House - just think of when you get your cable set up and they tell you they'll be there between 8am & 8pm. No joke, I swear to God that's what they told me! LOL Glad everything's up and running for you! :)

this is too strange!!
i spent all friday morning waiting for the cable guy to show up -they said he would be there between 8 and 12. one of our tv's wasn't receiving all the channels we were paying for since hurricane charley came thru. so guess when cable shows up? yup, 5 til 12. spends 1 hour acting like he is doing something and then concludes that we need the house rewired!! it was working before charley, and the other tv works great. go figure.

APBTs can be such great dogs, but they take a lot of work in the obedience/socialization area. Please don't neglect that part of your education. I say you, because it's a full partnership between owner and dog. We have bull mixes, so I know from whence I speak. :D

This is Sierra. She is 3 months old and I just got her on Saturday. :) http://www.tamparacing.com/gallery/d...ttbed1-med.jpg This is an older picture of Rhett. This was taken when he was 4 months old - notice the size difference! He is now 11 months old and weighs almost 70 pounds. :D |
Well, today is the last day for my special assignment at work. Tomorrow I officially transfer back to the Patrol units, but I don't actually start work until Monday (this weekend is my group's long weekend off). I've been on this assignment for over 18 months, and worked through an acting division chief, and a newly hired one.
I'm a little nervous about going back, since it has been so long since I worked patrol, but I am looking forward to it. That is where my roots are, so to speak. Funny, as everyone kept saying to me all this last month how they don't know what they will do without me, and that I have done just so much for the department, and all...my current Deputy Chief hasn't even said anything. Still, I am excited for the assignment change, and I am hoping the streets are still as much fun as they were when I left. :D |
Geralyn Lucas, author of Why I Wore Lipstick is coming to our alumnae meeting next week! SOOO excited! So glad it's a night I can actually attend too now that classes have started.

I haven't bought new clothes or shoes in over 3 weeks. I think there might be something wrong with me.

Geralyn Lucas on the Today Show!
Nice mention of Zeta during her interview as well as a well put together video on her story. I will be at Courage Night this evening in NYC, wearing letters and passing out ribbons with NYC alumnae chapter. :) |
My boyfriend and I might be moving to Mobile, Alabama before the end of the year. He currently works as an assistant manager for a local pawn shop chain and they're looking to expand and Mobile looks like the destination.
His boss is there today taking a look at everything so we should know by the end of the week if we have to move. The company has agreed to pay all moving costs (U-haul, movers, deposit for our new apartment). But I like where we live and I don't want to move - even though this is a GREAT opportunity for him. ARGH! :( |
I wrote checks a few days ago for both my rent and my Burdines card. I mailed the rent check to my roommate's parents (they pay the mortgage on the house) and the credit card payment to Burdines.
Last night, my roomie's mom calls her and says, "So, I was laughing uncontrollably today when I opened the mail and saw that ZTAngel had sent me a check written to Burdines." Arghhhh...I accidently switched the checks. I was giving myself a pat on the back for sending my checks in early! Luckily her mom thought it was funny. Burdines was a pain to deal with. I sat on the phone with someone from customer service for 20 minutes (she didn't speak English all that well) trying to explain what happened and how I accidently sent them the wrong check. I just wanted to know what they were going to do with the rent check I sent them. Me: (explains the situation) Customer Service: You sent us rent? Me: No, I accidently sent you the rent check that was meant for my landlord. My landlord got y'alls check. Customer Service: I see. Me: I'm wondering what you will do with my rent check. Will you mail it back to me or will you shred it? Customer Service: We cash it and your account will reflect a credit since you're paying over the amount that's owed. Me: But you can't cash it. It's not written out to you. Customer Service: Why would you not write a check out to us? Me: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, her manager got on the phone and understood the situation perfectly. She assured me that people do this all the time and that I'm not a ditz. :) The check is being mailed back to me and I'll just run up to Burdines to pay my bill. |
ZTAngel - gotta love offshoring all those customer service reps! I dealt with one the other day for Capital One - I almost bought a ticket to India to blow up their building. I couldn't understand ANYONE that got on the phone. And then the manager tells me, "all my employees speak perfect english." NO THEY DON'T!! I speak perfect english - you speak some foreign ebonics type of language that NO ONE UNDERSTANDS!! It made me so mad that I broke my phone because I threw it against the wall. Yes, I know I have a temper. I work in a staffing firm and if I can't understand you, you don't work for me. I'm sorry but if I can't understand you how in the world are my clients supposed to!?!
|
Ha ha. Try calling Linksys for help! Computer problems are frustrating enough but add to that a customer service agent that doesn't have a good understanding of English.

We received bad news yesterday...
One of my husband's good friends that he grew up with died in Iraq yesterday. He was in a bulldozer that fell into the Euphrates River. I had the opportunity to meet him over the summer. He came and spent a weekend at our house a few weeks before he went over to Iraq. He even helped put up the bulletin board decorations in my classroom. I didn't know him that well, but it's hit me hard (and even more so for my husband). I keep looking at my boards at work and thinking about him. This was the second time he went to Iraq. He actually got out of the Marines after finishing his time, and volunteered to go back. I guess it was a part of God's plan, but it still makes it hard to take. Please keep all of the men and women in Iraq in your thoughts and prayers. My big sis' husband is over there for the second time, and another good friend is there as well. |
It was my birthday yesterday and not one of my zeta sisters called to wish me a happy birthday. Gee thanks. :(
|
Happy Belated Birthday! I never remember to check the calendar thingy at th e bottom of the GC forums screen...sorry!

Thanks.

Happy Belated, ztabchbum! Sorry, but I've been super busy at work, and have not been around to check GC (I have 35+ emails in my secondary account alone that I still have to handle).
On a different track -- I just make a huge break in a series of computer thefts in my jurisdiction! I had 1 case, worked it, talked to some other jurisdictions, and have now linked the suspect to at least 35 other thefts in just 1 area of my city alone (so far; we are still working with our analysts to track down others)! Yea, Me!! Best, 4 male detectives working on several similar crimes for the last year never put them together! Go, Zeta! Go, Zeta! I am so pumped about this, it just feels really good when a case that looks like it's about to go cold turns out to be red hot! :D |
One of my sisters emailed me yesterday with a picture that I want to share here.
http://www.geocities.com/gmuzta/marines.gif This picture can be found on the George Mason (Theta Chi) ZTA website under their gallery of social pictures. Very cool. :D |
I just wanted to point out that this week is only a 3-day work week and this makes me excited. That is all.
|
I just bought tickets to visit my boyfriend in Atlanta at the end of this month. I'm praying that a warm front goes through there while I'm there.
|
I just booked a flight to go to Vegas in May for a ZTA sister's Bachelorette party. I can't wait to go for a girls only weekend!
|
Saw pictures of my new member class sister's new first! legacy and she's adorable!

Dinner last night with the rest of NYC Alumnae Exec. Such fun!
|
There's nothing quite like getting woken up early on a Saturday morning because your neighbor is getting a new roof. bam, bam, bam, bam, bam goes the hammer since 8am.
|
Snaps to one of my NYC sisters letting me get my new coat UPSed to her apt since I'm never home in time for delivery and dont have a doorman like she does who'll hold it for me/her.
Yay for a new coat! Just in time for our alumnae group fundraiser too. :) |
My roommate is on a business trip until Friday and her boyfriend is on a business trip on Saturday so I've been taking care of both of their dogs for the past few days. I just remembered that I have a lunch meeting today so I won't be able to go home and walk them; I also have to stay late today at work. I feel bad for the dogs. My ZTA little lives right down the street from me and I'd ask her to walk them but she hates dogs. She's especially scared of the Jack Russell because he jumps and the Dachshund won't listen to people he doesn't know. I just hope that the dogs don't leave me any "presents" when I get home from work today.

I just wanted to tell ya'll something good that your sisters @ UNA (the university of north alabama) did.
ZH Adpi had a 5K philanthropy event. It was our 1st annual "run for ronald" 5K. Anyway, Zeta and Alpha game were represented very well. I heard that they used this event as a sisterhood thing. Some of them ran in it and some of them cheered the runners on. UNA is a smaller school, panhellenically speaking, and it is a big thing for different sororities to support other sororities events. Anyway, I thought that it was a great thing for your sisters to do to wake up early to support ADPi. Have a wonderful weekend. |
Thank you Connie! That was so nice of you to come over to the Zeta board to tell us that!
It's always nice to hear good things about our fraternity, and I appreciate you sharing that with us. :) |
