i'm at work but i want to know...
i missed tonite's show. can someone please give me the details and the run down?
so is the engagement off??? and is miranda thinking of giving up her baby? and whats going on with samantha and her sex-crazy self? |
"and is miranda thinking of giving up her baby?"
Miranda's giving up her baby was not part of the episode. I just asked the question because of her behavior about being pregnant. |

Carrie and Aiden broke it off because Carrie wasn't ready to get married and Aiden was. The thought of marriage made her break out into hives. Samantha was mad at Richard for having sex w/ other women and she began to realize that she had feelings for him and that she really wasn't interest in sleeping w/ anyone else. To get back at him, she had sex w/ some gossip columnist (right?). Charlotte involved herself in the arts: dancing, music, art, ect. as an outlet to her separation w/ Trey. Miranda goes to the doctor and hears the baby's hearbeat and also finds out that she's having a boy, but her attitude is very nonchalant and it seems as if she's lacking natural maternal feelings. Everyone is excited about her having a little boy except her. At the end of the episode, she felt the baby kick. |
BIG is comming back!
I can't wait until next Sunday.....I KNEW that Carrie was not going to marry Aiden. I was worried that MR. BIG would not be appearing this season-but according to the preview of next week's episode HE'S BACK! I am SO GLAD! I know many people dislike MR. BIG and cheered for Carri's relationship with Aiden. But as I see it: AIDEN represents WEAKNESS and MR. BIG represents a CHALLENGE (and I'm always one for a challenge) Who knows? There is only 3 more new episodes~We shall see what unfolds!

Mr. Big is the typical doesn't want to get involve type of man that women love but who are never happy because he can't make a committment. Carrie was the Mr. Big in the Aidan/Carrie relationship (she couldn't make a committment) and Carrie is the "Aidan" in the Carrie/Mr. Big relationship (Carrie wants the committment). I think Carrie's relationship with Big is more interesting because there is alot more storylines in that relationship than with Carrie/Aidan (the boring relationship). |

I just wanted to cry
I was so sad that Carrie and Aidan broke up. I really wanted it to work out for them. But, Aidan still didn't totally trust her and a piece of paper isn't going to make him do that. He could never totally forgive her for cheating so their relationship was doomed from the start.
I don't think it's fair to say that Miranda should give her baby up for adoption. She decided to keep it so that means that she will be devoted to loving her child. Just because she didn't have the standard response to her baby's sex does not mean that she doesn't love her baby. Everyone is different and everyone reacts to things on their own time. At the end of the show when the baby kicked, she got excited. I do truly hope that one of these women finds a good man and has a successful relationship with him. They don't all have to stay single for the rest of their lives for the show to still be good. |
How about I just realized that I didn't see the show this week?! See, this is why I love GC! I'm glad I could come here and check, because I know we talk about it each week, and I could see if I really missed it or if I was just trippin. But I really missed it.
Anyway, I always thought that Aidan and Carrie were terribly mismatched. I also was trippin' that Miranda got pregnant, she just doesn't seem the mommy type. I've been thinking that she'll miscarry. But who knows. I think that her having a child as a single mother will DEFINITELY change the dynamic of the show. I just can't see them having girls' night and stuff when she has a newborn. CRAAAAAAP!!! I missed Girlfriends, TOO! AND the Daria movie. Crap. Lemme go pull up the Girlfriends thread. CRAAAAAAAP! |
SATC
I missed it last week, but I will catch the tape when I'm at my mother's house this weekend. The beauty of having digital cable at my other residence.;) :p
|
I think it is pretty judgemental to say Miranda should give up her baby just because she did not respond to the songram the way everyone would expect. You would be surprised how many women are just like MIranda before the baby becomes active and they really KNOW there is a baby inside of them. Some people need to feel the fact of the baby not just the theory, if you catch my drift. Some women, who turn out o be wonderful mothers, are like Miranda all the way up until they are holdig the baby in their arms. You just never know.

REPEATS
HBO shows the repeats on Wednesday nights at 8 pm Central time. The same time as Bernie Mac.
I agree with whoever said that Carrie looked over the "nice guy" for the "challenge". Who in the heck does she run to? "The Challenge". Well, in real life, it's rumored that "Carrie" and "Aidan" are a couple, even though she is married to Mathew Broderick from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". |

Then, she kissed him when they announced her name...ON THA LIPS! |
Yeah, I saw that kiss too and thought it curious...
If they really are a "thing" it will come out soon enough-- like on Leno (I HATED that dress she was wearing!)--she mentioned she was leaving the next day for a two week trip to Hawaii with "a friend" since Matthew had to work. Well, I'm not gonna speculate on the friend's identity, but I hope its not John Corbett. I'd really like to see some of these high profile marriages END before the next relationship begins, know what i mean? :) And, perhaps she and John are just really great friends... who knows why she forgot to mention MB in her speech--nerves, she knew he wasn't watching, etc? Julia Roberts forgot to mention the real Erin Brockovich last year, so it happens... Personally my Oscar acceptance speech (for best original or best adapted screenplay--I'll take either one) is already written and memorized, been practicing it for years, LOL! :D Amy |
SATC
Well I do know a core of the audience was not pleased with how the show was going. Carrie about to get married, Miranda pregnant, Samantha in love(gasp!) and Charolette was married. they needed to change SOMETHING, the plot of the story has been 4 fab single women in NYC. So I understand why Carrie and Adien broke up(even though that boy is FINE!):p
Samantha I think won't last long in the whole "love" thing. And I was glad that she didn't give in to saying that she loved him. I'm sorry, but I kinda feel Carrie on how she felt that the richest woman at the table(charlette) didn't offer to give her the money. I know she isn't responsible for her problems, but that isn't the point! Miranda and her pity screw, oh gag me:rolleyes: But we still got 3 episodes left, am I the only one that misses the cute intro where they sang "More, More, Moreeeee! How do you like it, how do you like it.." QTE;) |
I don't know, I liked this episode but felt it really went to the bounds of unreality--
I mean come on, how many of us in the SAME position would have A. Had to move out of the apartment B. GOne to our ex-fiancee to BEG him to allow you to make the mortgage payments until you could figure something out...basically pay him rent. And how many of us have A. An ex boyfriend who could write us a 30K check. (well, I do, but that's ANOTHER story, lol, and yes we call him Mr. Big too) B. 3 best friends capable of lending us the $$ I mean personally, my parents may be able to help out SOME (not all) but I wouldn't ask them. If I couldn't get the ex to agree to let me pay rent to him for a set period of time, I would suck it up and move out. Realistic would have been Charlotte offering to let Carrie live with her in her big old empty Park Avenue Apt. Only 3 more episodes! NO NO NO I want a new one EVERY WEEK! :D Amy |
I really enjoyed last nights episode because I do like SITC, but get real. What the hell is wrong with Carrie that she has absolutely no savings to her name what so ever that she can take money from. I'm sorry also but I wouldnt have given her the money, I am of the same thinking about lending money to friends...I just don't do it. It's the same thing I have with my rental properties...I don't rent to family or friends. You get to keep your family and friends when you do it that way.
Also I feel Carrie needs to start really saving, and stop that damn shoe shopping like she does. That is crazy that she has spent over $40K on shoes, but had no money in anykind of savings, be it an IRA, or some kind of 401K that she set up on her own. I just really had to shake my head at her last night, because she really hasn't a clue when it comes to her future. Now as for miranda and the pity sex, I was screaming because isn't that how she got in the situation with being pregnant in the first place. She had pity sex with Steve when he lost one of his "balls" I really like Steve, and I hope he stays on the show for a minute now that Aiden is gone. |

Carrie's situation is not all that uncommon. Subconsciously, some women may be waiting for a man to rescue them-- that's possibly why they have no savings.
But $40K in shoes is ridiculous. Trust me -- there are ways to have great shoes and an IRA. ;) Last night's episode reminded me of Tama Janowitz's "A Certain Age." That book is centered around a woman who has some of Carrie's tendencies but is much more unlikable. And I agree with the most realistic scenario being Carrie moving in with Charlotte, instead of Charlotte giving Carrie the Tiffany & Co. ring to raise caiche. Did she pawn the thing? |
I love Carrie to death, but she knows she is wrong for spending that much money on shoes. She is trying to live way above her means. She obviously can't afford it if she only has less than $2,000 left to her name. I can understand how hard it is to resist shoes, because I too have that problem. But, I know better than to spend my last dime on some shoes. I would much rather be able to eat and live.
I agreed with Charlotte on the money issue. Money and friends just don't mix. I do not lend anything to anyone. If I let you borrow something, then that basically means that I'm not expecting to get it back. If you give it back, then great, but if you don't, I won't lose any sleep over it. Samantha needs to stop being so scared to fall in love. If Richard loves her and she loves him, what's the problem? Honestly, she can't want to live the rest of her life without a meaningful relationship. Doesn't everyone want someone to grow old with? |

Women have been talking openly (i.e."publicly") about sex for eons, so the "Sex In The City" dialogue is nothing new. Your comments smack of the old double standard that men often saddle on women. You all can be as foul as you want when you talk about your "sexcapades", but women have to keep their lips zipped. If you don't like what you hear, and you can't handle that type of frankess from women, then leave the room, cover your ears, and pretend that we are all little angels that don't talk about sex!! |

SATC has the same intro where Carrie is walking down the street and at the end, the bus splashes her. |
THANKS
Sorry! I meant the commercial that they used to show on HBO. I really liked that one. The current one does have Carrie looking very pretty(You know sometimes she doesn't look her best, but I do think she's unusually pretty). And check out Samantha's dress! All I can say is, if you got it, flaunt it!:D
And I also missed the little commerical with them walking forward in those TIGHT ASS white suits(man oh man if I could find one for the next convention that looked like Carrie's, plus the hat!) Damn this thread is long, long live SATC!lol! QTE |
Does anyone remember Melissa? From Real World New Orleans? Well she has a site and I found her thoughts on the last episode of Sex & The City hilarious - instead of summing it up, I will just paste it in:
Debt & The City posted: 01/28/02 02:37 PM by Melissa So, you know how when you watch TV, you sometimes have to remind yourself that it's make-believe before you get all pissy about what's going on. It's not real, man. Well, I watched Sex & The City last night and it practically glorified credit card debt and shoe shopping beyond your means. I mean, I could conceivably blame Sex & The City the next time I just have the urge to go buy more shoes I don't need. I mean, if I was so low that I needed to actually displace the blame in order to get the dirty deed done. Okay, so Carrie's rent is only $750. In Manhattan. I know, rent control. But is rent control that good? Do you know how hot that apartment is? I always wondered how she could afford the apartment and the Manolo Blahniks. Okay, and she only had $700 in savings and $900 in checking (or something absurd like that). Actually, now that I think about it, that's so real it's scary. She has to be hundreds of thousands in debt. She just has to be. And her life is just grand. And it is just TV. So let me keep my brown ass inside before I go wasting this money because Carrie Bradshaw did. I am a grown ass adult looking at TV, trying to find excuses. They need a little disclaimer for every shopping scene on that show. Do Not Try This At Home, You Broke Fool. Also, I just realized this... Um, when she was denied a loan from the bank (which in real life she wouldn't have been because I know fools that only have $4 and a part-time job that get loans) in the next scene she was wearing a Coco Chanel shirt! If Carrie sold even just 20 pairs of her shoes, she'd be alright. Garage sale? I mean, she doesn't have a garage, but come on now, let's get practical. And if Charlotte didn't want to give her the money in the first place, Carrie shouldn't have taken that ring in the second place. Coersion? Guilt? And I thought you didn't have any money! Shouldn't you be having tea at home! Over the gas stove! It was all too much. Just take the money from Mr. Big and continue the weird relationship. He doesn't need the money back and with all the galavanting and rendezvousing they do, he would probably forget about the money anyway. I don't know though, I wouldn't take that money from a man. So he could be trying to control me. Oh hell no. But still, I coudln't take old girl's ring! She can play make-believe marriage in that big ass crib all she wants. Someone please stop making Charlotte wear Easter dresses every day. It's killing me. --from www.princessmelissa.com |
That was hella-funny. I'm still laughing at the Charlotte and the Easter dresses.

Carrie BROKE-SHAW?
I'm Mad! I thought that BIG was making a COME BACK and all it ended up to be was a CAMEO! What's up with that? As for Carrie BROKE-SHAW, (Don't get me wrong-I could empathize with her financial woes were caused by medical bills or student loans but 40K on shoes? C'mon) I would have taken that money from BIG in a New York minute! Although he is "The Man" he has put that girl through some changes....is 30K the going rate for breaking someone's heart these days? I have to agree with Melissa, if Carrie is in dire need of CASH, why is she posted-up in a restuarant in almost every scene? |
I would've taken the money from Big, too! In a HEARTBEAT! Woulda said thank you so much, and kept on steppin!

Vogue... am I behind?
OK, I missed the beginning (shoot!), gotta catch it at 10 on HBOP. Anyway: What the heck happened to Carrie's hair??? Maybe me watching the beginning will explain that, but catching it in the middle, I was like, what the heck?
Ole girl's baby shower ---- one of us was there??? I've never seen an Afro American on this show, but I haven't been watching it as long as some of the veterans. That excessory closet was a dream come true! Why can't stuff like that happen in real life --- minus the old man, of course. :D :D AND... A monogamous (sp?) Sam? Say it Aint so??? :p And, what day does the show really come on? I can never tell if I'm watching a repeat!!! |
sundays at 9pm EST.

SATC creator
Here's a link to a New York magazine story about Candace Bushnell, creator of Sex and the City:
http://www.nymetro.com/personals/art.../bushnell1.htm By the way, I also liked Sunday's episode. I could have done w/o ol' "cookie man" Julian, however, and his tired wrinkled-up tail. Candice Bergen was funny as Carrie's editor, and loved her cat-eye glasses. And I did notice one of "us" at the baby shower. The baby was adorable, reminded me of my LS' son.:) By the way, Soror TP, Samantha was dating an African American man in one of the earlier episodes, but he broke it off after his sister objected to it. I also felt the "excessory" closet. Great shoes, although Manolo Blahnik does too many high heels for my taste. What happened to nice kitten heels? Charlotte made me want to cry. She still wants a baby so badly.:( |
A few of us on the show.
Yes, Soror, there have been a few of us on the show.
I can probably count on ONE hand, now, maybe, 2 how many of us have had speaking parts. UMMMMMM, what was up with that baby's hair? |
Re: A few of us on the show.

I almost fainted when they went into the accessories closet. I could have cried, I was in heaven. To me, there is no such thing as too many high heels. The higher the better for me. I'm short with long legs ( I really don't know how that happened) but stillettoes make my legs look great. I knew that old man was going to try something. Whenever a man who is straight is too nice to me, somewhere in the back of my head I always think that they have an ulterior motive. I like Carrie's new haircut. Supposedly, tickledpink, she got a new haircut to go with her new mortgage and new job. I think it would look much better if she wore it straight and sleek. I think a nice bob looks great on just about everybody. It's a little too short for her to still be trying to wear it curly. It looks crazy like that. P.S. Miss Bradshaw needs to make an appointment with her colorist because her roots were showing all in the back of her head. I can't stand watching someone's roots grow in. If you can't keep it up, then you don't need permanent hair color. Get something that will gradually wash out because obvious roots are tacky. |

sorry ya'll but I do get late on things. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. But That accessories Closet was tight. I love heels. That Would've been my shoe heaven. |
No comments???
Didi snyone else see the season finale last Sunda or was it just me?
I was heartbroken when Big moved t Cali. I am going to miss him! ANd I was dissapointed in Richard. Was this a season of relatinship lows or what? Everybody broke up. |
Re: No comments???
Quote:
It was a relationship low season. But I'm glad Charlotte is rid of Trey. As I've said before, there's something not right about that man, never mind his Park Avenue pedigree. I also have never felt Steve, even though as Miranda's baby daddy, there will be a connection. Steve reminds me of ol' dorky Woody Allen (in terms of personality, not pedophilia. LOL.) :p |
Ladies, I have a question that is bugging me about Sex & The City. I cant remember if I dreamt this, or if I actually saw it on a commercial for next season.
Carrie was out somewhere in town and saw Aiden (sp?) and he was with Natasha (Bigs ex) and Aiden made a comment to a surprised Carrie "well it looks like we have something in common after all" or something like that. Did I dream this?? Lol I cant remember! |
