Alpha Omicron Pi -how long you've been a member Since 1988 -how active an alum you've been Pretty active recently, though not so much right after I graduated. I'm currently holding several adviser positions with the local collegiate chapter, and I'm about to run for VP of the local alumnae group. -why you come to GC I stumbled over GC this past summer, and I love reading about what the collegiate chapters are doing and what other alum chapters do - I'm getting LOTS of ideas! -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active Once an AOII, always an AOII. I'm still active for the networking opportunities and the friendships I've made. I also want to show the local chapter that it doesn't end when you graduate. -anything else you care to share This story epitomizes why GLOs are a good thing. My grandmother died last fall. For a number of reasons (not the least of which was their age), I could not take my children with me across the country to the funeral. Unfortunately, I do not have any relatives in town (or nearby), and I was going to have to be gone for an entire weekend. I thought I was not going to be able to go at all because I could not find ANYONE willing to help me out among my friends in town. I was relating my dilema to another adviser while we were at the house, and members of the chapter overheard me. Two of them volunteered to take care of my children for me while I was gone - UNASKED, and for the ENTIRE weekend! Because of the kind hearts and the ability of members of my GLO to live our ritual instead of just mouth the words, I was able to go across the country and support my family in a time of sorrow. |
- I am an alum of Sigma Kappa sorority
- I have been a member for 4 years now - I haven't been too active this year b/c I've got so much else on my plate like buying a new house & getting married in January - Curiosity at first & then simply meeting members of other GLO's - I still enjoy spending time with my girls & getting together & having fun. - I took a chance on joining a GLO b/c I was already 21 & knew that the chances were slim to non-existant. I was lucky that the ladies there took a chance on me & I've never regretted my decision to join. I enjoyed my time in SK as an active & hope that one I move into my new house in January, I'll be an active alum with the particular alumna group in my new city. |

Delta Gamma -how long you've been a member Since 2003 -how active an alum you've been Not as active as I would have liked. I'm a member of the local alumna chapter, but they always have meetings and events when I'm in class (I'm in grad school). I hope that next semester I'll be able to be more active. -why you come to GC I came to GC in 2002 when I joined an honor fraternity. I pledged DG a few months later, and haven't been able to leave GC yet;) -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active I met my very best friends through Delta Gamma. I've always said that DG was one of the 2 best decisions I ever made (the other one is going to Auburn). I think GLOs are such a wonderful experience :) -anything else you care to share I hope I always remain active in Delta Gamma :) |

Alpha Gamma Delta -how long you've been a member January 12, 1974! -how active an alum you've been oh gosh!! I don't have time to be inactive, lol. I'm Chapter Advisor to my initiating chapter, Permanent Secretary to the inactive Alumnae Chapter (means I am supposed to keep track of where people are but that doesn't help if members don't tell you where they are!!) and member of the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter -- which I try to attend events if CA duties don't conflict....also a Alumnae Panhellenic member. -why you come to GC Because it helps me to learn to be a better CA and Alpha Gamma Delta! -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active As as VST member told me about other alumnae who are not as active...."What part of our initiation vows did we hear that they didn't?" I also agree about the statement that it keeps you feeling young (and sometimes old at the same time.) -anything else you care to share Thank you to my sisters that I have met here! You've been a great help and inspiration to me. Some I've already met in person and hope to meet again..with those I haven't, next year at Convention!! |

Delta Zeta -how long you've been a member 2002-2005 -how active an alum you've been Ehhh.. not so hot. I just moved to Maryland, I went to school in New Hampshire - so my chapter is far away. However - I do "phone advise" my chapter. They call and chat, or discuss DZ things with me (look for advise, etc) and I call them during their meetings. -why you come to GC Its always entertaining, plus I've met some great friends from it :) -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active I adore my sisters and I can't say enough about my experience as a collegian. All amazing. I want to give back to an organization that gave me so much, though I can never repay all of what DZ has given to me. -anything else you care to share Like I said, I'm in a new place, so i'm super lonely without my sisters. I've been wanting to get involved with the local Alum chapter, but I coach a fall and winter sport (along with this little extra called teaching? ;) :p) and I am planning my wedding (which, NO JOKE, my colors are pink and green - they are just SO fab together!!) So my time is limited. |

Chi Omega-Alpha Delta Chapter @ Indiana State University -how long you've been a member Initiated in 1986 Alum status in 1991 -how active an alum you've been Joined the alum group in Connecticut and became a State Recruit Chairperson for CT. I absolutely loved that job- helping girls from the state with rushing all over the United States. Just moved to Illinois and have not had a chance to get involved yet but want to. -why you came to GC Came across GC a long time ago - made great contacts and everyone is so nice and supportive. Been away for awhile but came back to check up on the GLO scene. -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active Chi Omega was the best thing to ever happen to me until the birth of my son. It taught me to strive to be a selfless giving person and I want other women to feel the love of sisterhood (whether it is with AAA sorority or ZZZ) - I just do not want the traditions of sororities and fraternities to ever die - I can't wait for the day my son, Jack, calls me to tell me he pledged! -anything else you care to share Just wanted to say "hi" to all the "old timer" Greek Chatters! Alpha Xi Delta - Zeta Omega Chapter - University of West Georgia! -how long you've been a member Since November 17, 1997 -how active an alum you've been I've never stopped. Since the day I graduated I have been in alumnae associations, advising, facilitating, attending Conventions, etc. Now I'm a Chapter Advisor for a great group of young women! -why you come to GC Ha! I got started because I was told to by the big dawgs via my Area Facilitator! Not really the phone call I wanted to receive, but now I'm hooked because I learned sooo much! -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active The women from college are my closest and dearest friends and Alpha Xi Delta is how we met. Most important though, my CA was my best friend in college. She was supportive, helpful, uplighting, and honest. I don't think I would have made it without her. If I can repay her kindness to 1 young woman and help her grow into a strong and confident woman, then I will be living up to Kathy's standard. |

Almost 4 years (I joined in my 3rd year of University) I was a member of AAC and am a new Member of TAAP (Toronto Area Alumnae Panhellenic). Our Toronto alumnae Club is just starting up again and I hope to be active there. I came to GC just after I initiated to meet more Greeks. The lasting friendships |
MY GLO - I'm a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. I am a Founding Brother of the IL Zeta Colony and Chapter (badge #0003) and I was initiated in 1993.
How long have you been in? that would give me 13 years. How active an alum have you become? Well, I've been the Chapter Advisor for IL Zeta for the last 6 years (DePaul's Greek Advisor of the Year for 5 out of last 6 years; PKP national Chapter Advisor in 1993) and I started the IL Theta Colony and Chapter at Univ. of IL at Chicago in 1992. I've also been the President of the Chicago Alumni Association; the Alumni Corporation President and a Director; i serve on the University Greek Alumni Roundtable; I hold an appointed position on the Fraternity's Executive Council; I'm a facilitatior for our Leadership Academies and I've attended every Grand Arch Council (national Convention) since I joined the Colony (7 in all) why am I here - just looked interesting and I've seen some great threads so far. Why am I still active - because Phi Psi has given me so much and I feel that it's my responsibility to give back 10 fold! |
My GLO - Alpha Xi Delta
How long have you been a member - Pledged fall 1991, alum Spring 1995... so I guess that's 15 years now! How active - I'm just getting back into it actually. I've helped my chapter - Epsilon- with fall recruitment and I am hoping to be able to help out more and become more involved. There is a new AA in the area that I'm hoping to become involved with also. Why you come to GC - stumbled on it by accident, lurked for a while and finally signed up. Now I can't keep myself away for long! I loved being a member of Alpha Xi Delta in college... we were the first sorority on campus in 1903 and I loved that kind of tradition. I love being from Epsilon chapter! |

I've moved back to my hometown of Madison, Wi and have attended my first HCB meeting. I'm trying to resurrect the Alumnae chapter, too! -why you came to GC I love the GREEK COMMUNITY!!! And I miss it. And it's so interesting to me to hear about what is happening at schools all over the country. -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active It's an organization for life. I want to be/am a member forever. I love Gamma Phi and my sisters. -anything else you care to share I'm sure this goes for everyone and every GLO. If you are in contact with fellow alumni, TELL THEM TO UPDATE THEIR CONTACT INFO with your (inter)national office. It makes it sooooo much easier for people like myself to contact alums when we have the right info! |

GLO:
I'm a Son of Blood and Thunder, i.e., a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Initiated almost 26 years ago May 17. How active as graduate/alum: I've been very active on the graduate level for 16 years, having served as chaplain and then basileus(president) of the grad chapter in Pasadena,CA when I was in seminary. Then when I moved back to NC, I became active in the local grad chapter, where I served as Asst. Chaplain, Chair of the Benevolence Committee, member of Community Affairs Committee, worked some with Youth Mentoring program, member of Mardi Gras Formal Committee, Talent Hunt Committee, Urban Ministries Feed the Homeless program and the Back-to-School Youth Fair Committee with the local DST Alumnae chapter. I now serve as chapter chaplain and member of Executive Committee. I'm also a member of the Editorial Board of the Oracle, the official organ of the Fraternity. Why GC? GC is an interesting venue for learning and sharing from Greeks from a wide background--I'm an enemy of parochialism. I like intelligent conversation and the broad range of topics and conversations that go on amongst GCers. It's also been forum where I've had a life-changing encounter. I thank God for that! |

Why you come to GC Same reason as before. What you still enjoy about your GLO/Why you're active Same reason as before...plus 1) I get a chance to do some things I wouldn't otherwise be doing and 2) my sorors force me off my lazy behind and bring my into socializing! LOL! Anything else you care to share There is something exciting in the works over in Theta land. I can't elaborate, but all will soon be revealed. I am currently leading the "project." |

-your GLO
Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Inc. -how long you've been a member 3 years...I was initated Nov. of 2003. I graduated in May '05. -how active an alum you've been I'm not an active member of the undergraduate chapter because I live 3 hours away from my chapter. I would commute, but I find out events last minute's notice. But recently, I've been helping my regional director establish a chapter in my metro area. -why you come to GC To openly talk with other greek members about the issues you face in Greek life as alumni and to get advice on how to become a founding/charter chapter member. -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active I choose to reactive my membership, because I saw an opportunity for growth and leadership. I inspire other sorors to rededicate themselves to the cause and I inspire others to join the cause. I feel that the only way to not have your voice be heard is to give up on the cause. What I love about my organization is the mission/focus and the sisterhood. We believe in helping disadvantaged women / underpriviledged youth by giving them tools they need to be professional successful. And the relationships I've made with members transcends whatever my affliation with the organization is...at the end of the day, we're friends, not just sorority sisters and we care about each other. GPD means more to me than "just something I did while I was in college" and each day I wear my letters or talk to someone whose interested, I am reminded of how important it is to have my organization in the area that I live in. -anything else you care to share I am currently recruiting women to join our alumnae charter interest group in fall '06. We are a growing organization and we look for people who are interested in community service & developing stronger relationships with women. Traditionally, we are a African-American sorority, but we look for women of all races & creeds. We are a not associated with the panhell or nphc so members of those council often join our sorority because they believe in our mission and we often join sororities in those councils as well. Our website is http://www.gammaphideltasorority.com. |

Not to be redundant to the sig, but.... Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc. The royal blue, pearl white, and a touch of classic gold!!!! -how long you've been a member 18 glorious years....I crossed the burning sands of Psi in February of 1988. I'm an "old school" bruh... :D -how active an alum you've been I've been Business Manager of my Band Alumni organization for the past seven (6) years. I'm currently holding the office of Vice President of Operations. I've also been working as an band camp advisor and Drum Major advisor for my alma mater's marching band for the same number of years. In addition, I'm functioning as a fraternal advisor, assisting in the process of getting my undergrad chapter reactivated on campus (it went inactive about ten years ago). Off and on, I've always had some sort of alumni involvement with the music department since I graduated. -why you come to GC I enjoy the dialogue that goes on here. It ranges from the "sublime to the ridiculous". Often the dialogue will take a turn where it's worth contributing to. Whatever form it takes, it's always entertaining, even if I'm just along for the ride. Also, there are Greeks from a variety of backgrounds/viewpoints. It's interesting to see the differences in how we all view Greekdom. It's even more interesting to see how narrow-minded many people can be when it comes to their own viewpoint(s). Either way, we all benefit from those differences... :p -what you still enjoy about your GLO/why you're active At the core of the principles and purposes of my org is the love for music and the band. That never dies. My love for the Fraternity has not diminished since the day I crossed; in fact it has grown. I'm also a Life Member of the Fraternity. I may not be an active (undergrad) bandsman any more, but music is always in my heart. And in the end, it's all about the music, baby... :D -anything else you care to share Don't get it twisted! There are no "band nerds" in my org! No one who knows me or any of the bruhs who have come through my chapter has that misconception! Sending a shout out and a 191946 to the ladies of Tau Beta Sigma!!! :D To the bruhs... K...K...!!!! |
