Actress Erika Alexander Loves Writing TV
39 minutes ago TORONTO - Actress Erika Alexander, who starred in the Fox sitcom "Living Single" alongside Queen Latifah, said she enjoys spending time writing for television with her husband. Alexander, who currently plays a tough-as-nails probation officer in the Showtime series "Street Time," told AP radio that she and Tony Puryear have worked together on a number of projects. "We sold a science-fiction series and other television series and we collaborate on feature films sometimes," she said. Alexander called being able to write a "nice extension" of her career considering how time consuming her day job is. Alexander, who was in "The Cosby Show" for two seasons, had roles in the films "Full Frontal," "30 Years to Life," "Love Liza" and "The Last Best Year." She also starred in the Off-Broadway play "The Story" and played the role of Bianca in "Taming of the Shrew" in the New York Shakespeare Festival's 1999 summer season. |

Da Bull arrested on drug charge January 21, 2004 CHICAGO -- The man who portrays Da Bull, a mascot for the Chicago Bulls, was arrested Monday for allegedly selling marijuana outside the Cabrini-Green public housing complex, police said. Chester Brewer, 31, who is in his ninth NBA season as the man beneath Da Bull's rusty brown fur, was arrested Monday night in the 500 block of West Locust Street and charged with marijuana delivery. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17 for a preliminary hearing. Tim Hallam, a Bulls spokesman, confirmed that Brewer portrays Da Bull, half of the team's mascot duo that includes Benny the Bull. Brewer has worked part time for the Bulls since 1996, Hallam said. Police officers said they saw Brewer, of the 900 block of North Cleveland Avenue, Chicago, selling marijuana from his car outside Cabrini and arrested him as he got out of the car, police spokeswoman Patrice Harper said. Police found 6 ounces of marijuana in individual plastic bags inside a single paper bag in his possession, Harper said. 'Jeffersons' Isabel Sanford Receives Star
Fri Jan 16, 2:01 PM ET By The Associated Press LOS ANGELES - Isabel Sanford, best known as Louise Jefferson or "Weezie" on the CBS sitcom "The Jeffersons," moved on up to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Sanford, 86, was joined at the ceremony Thursday by about 300 fans, family members and friends, including "All in the Family" and "Jeffersons" creator Norman Lear and Marla Gibbs, who played the Jeffersons' maid Florence. Sanford, a native New Yorker, said she was honored to have her own star. "Here with stars in my eyes — something that I dreamed about when I was 9 years old," she said after the ceremony. "There are others that deserve it, but let everybody get their own." Sanford made her feature film debut in the classic "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," before co-starring with Sherman Hemsley for more than 10 years in "The Jeffersons," a spin-off of the popular series "All in the Family." In 1981, Sanford became the first black woman to receive an Emmy for best actress in a comedy series. Hemsley was out of the state and couldn't attend his TV wife's ceremony, officials said, but Gibbs couldn't pass up watching her friend receive the star. "I am so happy to be here to represent the queen," Gibbs said. "She is such a generous star." Sanford's star, No. 2,245, is on Hollywood Boulevard near La Brea Avenue only a few away from the star honoring Carroll O'Connor (news) of "All in the Family." http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com...ord_wxs102.jpg |

Sean Combs, equalize your child support
Combs' Ex-Lover Wants More Child Support
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - Sean "P. Diddy'' Combs should be paying equal child support - about $30,000 a month - to each of his sons, the mother of one of the boys says. Misa Hylton-Brim testified Tuesday in Family Court in New Rochelle in her lawsuit seeking a raise from the monthly $5,000 she now gets for 10-year-old Justin. Combs did not appear and his lawyer, Peter Galasso, declined to comment. Hylton-Brim, a hip-hop fashion stylist who lives in Mount Vernon, has sole custody of the boy, although Combs has visitation rights. "I want to be able to provide everything my child needs,'' she said. Her lawyer, Brett Kimmel, said she needs the extra money to keep up with expenses including private school, a full-time nanny and 'round-the-clock security. "This child's needs specifically relate to his father being who he is,'' Kimmel said. He said the hip-hop entrepreneur pays about $30,000 a month for the support of his 6-year-old son Christian, whose mother is model Kim Porter. Combs runs the Bad Boy Entertainment music publishing and recording company and has his own fashion line, Sean John, and several restaurants. |

NY Law says non custodial parent must provide 17% of income for said child, but if Kim can get 35 or whatever, Misa should get the same.
YEAHHHH, BOyeeeee for Weezie!! When does George get one? lol Omar is shady though. He left baby momma #1 while still preggers to be with Sanaa. Sanaa had enough "hot flashes" while she was with him (ie: trips to the clinic) and she got tired of it. Omar produced "Tell Me" (or wrote it, I dont remember which) on Total's first cd, he even had a lil rap video out for a second. He is fine to look at though.. lol. |

Kelis slams fellow Grammy nominees
By WENN Published January 21 2004 R&B sensation Kelis is angered rather than excited by her Grammy nomination for Best Urban/Alternative Performance -- as she considers her rivals in the category "a joke." The Milkshake beauty -- who is engaged to rapper NAS -- launched into a tirade against contenders Erykah Badu, Les Nubians, Musiq and Outkast after being quizzed on her thoughts about the February ceremony. She fumes, "I look at the other nominees and I don't feel honored. It's a joke." |

NBA NETS SOLD TO JAY-Z; THEY'RE MOVING TO BROOKLYN: Actually to a development group that includes the rapper/entrepreneur
So, Jay-Z Gets To Move The Nets To Brooklyn, But At What Price? (Jan. 22, 2004) *The New Jersey Nets have finally been sold. That's good news for some and bad news for others and they're said to be moving to Brooklyn. The Nets' owners have agreed to sell the team for $300 million to a New York City real estate developer Bruce Ratner, along with a team of investors which include hip-hop businessman Jay-Z. It's a move that could bring Brooklyn its first major sports franchise since Dodgers moved to LA. However the building of a massive $2.5 billion complex -- which includes the arena -- involves destroying houses and didplacing several thousand persons. That will definitely be a problem. And, in a sense, it goes against the grain of what Jay-Z seems to be about. The rapper has always projected an image of being down for the people of his 'hood, Brooklyn and The Marcy Projects in particular. Oh well, we'll see. For more, go to: www.Newsday.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reunited And It Feels So Good: Those who listened to me on the Lori & Julia Show on FM 107 in St. Paul, Minn. on Dec. 26, 2003 heard me speculate that “The Simple Life” star Nicole Richie was the biological daughter of Peter Michael Escovedo III. Well my speculations were confirmed last week when the Star reported that Nicole, the adopted daughter of Lionel Richie, was reunited with Peter on "The Wayne Brady Show," where he serves as bandleader. Nobody on the program knew of the connection. Nicole's biological dad was a percussionist in Richie's touring band, and Lionel was reportedly so taken with toddler Nicole that he asked Peter if she could move in with him and his wife, Brenda. According to Nicole, Peter and her biological mother, who had split up, decided the Richie’s could better provide for her. "It's much more complicated than that," says Peter, who is the brother of Prince protégée Sheila E. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Who Cares: Well it’s obvious that the rookie co-host on “The View,” Elisabeth Hasselbeck, is attempting to garner some attention. In an effort to become the Bill O’Reilly of daytime TV, Elisabeth announced on “The View” that she was appalled that Reebok had a deal with rapper 50 Cent and challenged the athletic company to ditch the hip-hop star. Apparently, Elisabeth’s gripes with 50 stem from the fact his G-Unit counterpart, Lloyd Banks, has struck a deal to release a line of skin flicks. His company, Banks Shot Productions, will make porno movies for Digital Sin for DVD release. The series of content will be called "Groupie Luve," after a G-Unit song of the same name. 50 and his G-Unit will make cameos in the film, however, the company offered in a statement, "Neither 50 Cent nor G-Unit will be engaged in any sexual behavior, but may make general appearances [in the films]." Elisabeth, a conservative republican, apparently doesn’t feel that 50’s affiliation with adult entertainment fits well with Reebok’s image. Let’s see if her little plea causes 50 any trouble. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Speaking of getting out of contracts, I‘m told Faith Evans was able to split from P.Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment and has now inked a new deal with Capitol Records. She apparently joins Chingy and Javier, who are also on Capitol. There was a rumor on the Internet that the O‘Jays broke up, but it‘s not true! The O’Jays have inked a new deal with Matthew Knowles‘ World Music label and will began recording a new album this year…World Music has apparently signed the gospel trio Trin-I-tee 5:7, who were formerly signed to Gospo Centric Records. Apparently the girls ended with Gospo Centric on a sad note and may not even be able to record under the name Trin-I-tee 5:7 any longer… ~~~ Hot Topic: Folks everywhere are certainly reading the Juice. Last week’s column included a story from an old interview with R&B singer Christopher Williams and his perspective on how men are obsessed with Halle Berry, whom he once dated. In the interview, Chris proclaimed, “The stuff they wrote about [me] and Halle was totally false. They said something like, I busted her eardrum, and I’m tired of it. I never said it [before], but I’m so tired of people thinking I’m the guy [who did it]. Wesley Snipes busted her eardrum, not me!” This story was so popular that numerous media outlets including Eonline.com, WENN news service and IMDB.com picked up the story. Believe it or not, they even credited the source of the story. (It’ll be nice when Black media outlets learn to do the same, but I digress!) ~~~ This Just In…: I’m told an announcement could come this week that Ray "Benzino" Scott will be stepping down from The Source. Word is that Benzino, who has released two CDs, is preparing to focus on his music career. However, my sources speculate that Benzino is leaving the hip-hop glossy because the magazine’s numerous failed attempts to discredit and ruin the career of Eminem has destroyed the integrity of the hip-hop glossy. Keep your eye on this one, and know that you heard it here first! ~~~ Can’t Say Names: Note to all celebrities: Stop having sex in public places. Two music stars (not Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey) were recently caught on camera getting their groove on in a public facility. The sad part is that they don’t know it yet. What married hip-hop star met a beautiful woman with whom he planned to have an affair, but luckily his conscience kicked in and he decided not too? Nonetheless, his right hand man instead pursued the girl behind his back and has been secretly dating the chick ever since. |

Bob Marley Stirs It Up with Rare Songs Release
Thu Jan 22, 9:17 AM ET Add Entertainment - Reuters to My Yahoo! By Astrid Zweynert LONDON (Reuters) - Previously unpublished tracks from Bob Marley's early years are to be released this spring, more than 20 years after the reggae icon's death, Universal Music said on Thursday. The record company said it had signed a 10-year global licensing deal with reggae label JAD Records for their early catalog recordings of Bob Marley & The Wailers. Over 200 tracks, recorded between 1967 and 1972, feature a young Marley with street attitude, influenced by the U.S. civil rights movement and beginning to explore Rastafarianism. "It is thrilling, both personally and professionally, that Universal is now able to present to fans virtually the entire recorded works of one of the most prolific and influential artists of the 20th Century," Julian Huntly of Universal Music International said in a statement. Jamaican-born Marley, who died of cancer in 1981 at the age of 36, became a global superstar with reggae anthems such as "Stir It Up" and "No Woman No Cry." The deal includes songs composed in Kingston, Jamaica, during the early years of The Wailers, the band the godfather of reggae formed with Neville "Bunny" Livingstone and Peter Tosh. The first release is a three-CD set, which will hit start hitting the shops in March. Tracks including "Music Gonna Teach," "One Love True Love" and the Peter Tosh version of "Little Green Apples" are to be released on CD for the first time. The catalog also includes reggae classics such as "Stir It Up," "Small Axe," "Guava Jelly" and "Concrete Jungle." Universal said there was "every possibility" that more previously unreleased songs could be found. Universal Music International is the international division of Universal Music Group, part of Vivendi Universal. |

Cam'ron will release his fourth solo set, Purple Haze, in March. RAKIM INJURED IN CAR ACCIDENT Rap legend Rakim, formerly of the group Eric B. & Rakim, was injured in a car accident on Wednesday afternoon, January 21st, in Connecticut while en route to New York, according to MTV.com. Rakim hit his head on the windshield and bumped his knee, which resulted in a scratched face and a swollen knee. He is also said to be suffering from back pain, but he is expected to make a full recovery and according to his lawyer, he is talking and coherent. Rakim is currently working on a new solo set that is tentatively titled Oh My God! Eric B. & Rakim parted ways in 1992 after releasing four albums: 1987's Paid In Full, 1988's Follow The Leader, 1990's Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em, and 1992's Don't Sweat The Technique. Rakim went on to release two solo efforts, 1997's The 18th Letter and 1999's The Master. EMINEM'S EX-WIFE WARNED DURING SENTENCING Eminem's ex-wife Kimberly Mathers was officially sentenced on Wednesday, January 21st, in a Detroit courtroom after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors in December. Mathers was sentenced to two years probation and if she successfully completes the term, the conviction could be sealed or expunged from her records, according to Michigan's WXYZ Action News. Mathers will also be subject to random drug testing. Mathers pleaded guilty to possessing less than 25 grams of cocaine and failing to give adequate space to an emergency vehicle. In exchange, charges of driving with a suspended license and maintaining a drug house stemming from a separate case will be dropped. Per her plea agreement, Mathers will be able to keep her driver's license. During sentencing Judge Edward Servitto told Mathers, "If you screw that up, however, it is automatic that you go to jail. Do you understand that?" Mathers responded, "I understand that your honor." Mathers' drug possession charges stem from a June traffic stop on Interstate-94 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. During the stop for allegedly failing to merge with other cars before a construction barricade, police found a white powder in Mathers' Cadillac Escalade, which was later confirmed to be cocaine. Mathers was charged with felony cocaine possession, driving with a suspended license, and unsafe driving near a stopped emergency vehicle. Mathers was later charged with running a drug house after a September 29th, 2003, arrest when authorities responding to a noise complaint at a Candlewood Suites hotel in Warren, Michigan, allegedly found drugs at a party in Mathers' hotel room. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, married Kim in June of 1999, and they have a daughter named Hailie Jade. The couple divorced in 2001. BEN AND J.LO CALL IT A DAY Yes, it's true -- Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are no longer a couple. They're no longer engaged, nor married, nor sneaking around pretending that they're engaged or married. The pair -- whose miles of gossip-column coverage in the last year could have saved a rainforest -- have ended their romance. According to a statement from Lopez's publicist, the singer made the decision to end the relationship, though the reason was not disclosed: quote, "At this difficult time, we ask that you respect her privacy." "Respecting privacy" is a tall order for a relationship that often seemed to be more public than private. As their romance bloomed, so did the media hype surrounding it. Lopez and Affleck were trailed by reporters constantly, even after the couple attempted to withdraw by purchasing a massive estate on a small island in Georgia this past summer. They were due to marry in early fall, but called it off in the eleventh hour, quote, "due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding." Lopez has recently been spotted with her former flame, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, though both parties have denied a reunion. KOBE BRYANT DUE BACK IN COURT TODAY NBA star Kobe Bryant is due back in Eagle County, Colorado, courtroom today (January 23rd) for another pretrial hearing in his sexual assault case. Most of the proceeding will be closed to the press. Earlier this week, the judge in the case said he'd hear arguments over whether the accuser's medical history should be allowed as evidence at trial. Bryant's attorneys are expected to present evidence and call witnesses, including the woman's mother and former boyfriend, in an effort to prove she has given up certain privacy rights because she talked about her medical condition with others. The open portions of the hearing are expected to include a report from prosecutors about who in the district attorney's office ordered or received T-shirts mocking Bryant as a, quote, "cheater." Also, the defense will seek more access to DNA tests on evidence in the case, a move opposed by prosecutors. The married, 25-year-old Bryant is accused of raping a 19-year-old woman on June 30th while visiting a hotel in Edwards, Colorado. He claims the sex was consensual. If convicted, Bryant faces four years to life in prison, or 20 years to life on probation. KEYSHAWN JOHNSON ROBBED AT GUNPOINT No arrests had been made Thursday (January 22nd) in the armed robbery of NFL player Keyshawn Johnson. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers player was robbed of money and jewels when he was held up gunpoint in Berkeley, California, on Wednesday (January 21st). Luckily, Johnson wasn't injured during the robbery. Police said Johnson was approached by two robbers as he was talking on his cell phone after walking out of a barber shop. Lt. Eric Gustafson told the AP, "Johnson gave up his money and jewelry and the suspects fled." The 31-year-old Johnson, a two-time Pro Bowl receiver, was deactivated for the final six games of last season. The Buccaneers reportedly plan to either trade or release him. In 1996, Johnson was the first pick in the 1996 draft by the New York Jets, who traded him to Tampa Bay three years ago for two Number One draft choices |
Eminem's Mom Carjacked
Eminem's Mom Carjacked on 8 Mile
(E! Online, 01/23/2004 9:35 PM) By Joal Ryan Some scary moments for Eminem's mom along 8 Mile Thursday night in the Detroit area. Police in Oak Park, Michigan, say Marshall Mathers' maternal unit, Debbie Mathers, was carjacked as she sat in her black Honda Prelude at a BP gas station located along the five-lane stretch made famous by her son's Oscar-winning movie, 8 Mile. Debbie Mathers was unhurt in the attack. A 16-year-old Detroit boy was arrested following a foot chase on nearby 7 Mile. It's not believed the teen suspect knew he was targeting the mother of a hip-hop icon. "I think this was just a random carjacking. This has been happening in that area," said Sgt. Frank Slone of the Oak Park Police. The incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Slone said. The 49-year-old Mathers was inside the car when a male teenager armed with a silver handgun approached and ordered her out. (The thug did, however, request she leave her purse behind.) The alleged carjacker ended up forcibly pulling Mother Mathers from the Honda, before driving off, police said. An officer spotted the hot Honda in a nearby neighborhood. The suspect ran out of the car after getting trapped in traffic, and found himself nabbed shortly after. Police say Debbie Mathers ID'd herself to police as Eminem 's mother. Mrs. Mathers needs no introduction to Eminem fans who've read the rapper slam her in interviews, or heard him dis her on record. When he rapped, "I just settled all my lawsuits. [The old familiar suggestion], Debbie," on The Eminem Show's "Without Me," he wasn't being metaphorical. Debbie Mathers has filed two defamation lawsuits against her son, both since settled. The Debbie Mathers-esque mother figure in 8 Mile was portrayed by Kim Basinger . The real Debbie Mathers reportedly told Detroit's WXYZ-TV that she'd been unable to reach her famous son to tell him about her misadventure. "He apparently must not be in town," she told the station. |
I read this article but I believe some of it because them children doesn't have a trace of African-American features in them.....
MICHAEL JACKSON isn't the natural father of his two eldest children, according to their mother DEBBIE ROWE. Rowe - who married Jackson in 1996 - claims she conceived PRINCE MICHAEL, six, and five-year-old PARIS after being artificially inseminated with anonymously donated sperm. The revelations appear in legal papers filed by Rowe - who is bidding to win custody of the two kids. Rowe also claims Jackson was so obsessed with controlling the creation of each child he imposed a six-month sex ban on Rowe before insemination - and subsequently hid the truth about the paternity of his children during his notorious MARTIN BASHIR interview. According to Rowe's legal papers - as reported in British newspaper the NEWS OF THE WORLD -Rowe received a $11 million pay-off plus a $3 million Beverly Hills home, in return for signing away custody of Prince Michael and Paris. Jackson is currently awaiting trial on child abuse charges. |

MASTER P FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY
Apparently the founder of No Limit Records, Master P (aka Percy Miller), does in fact have a limit--a financial limit. In a world exclusive, PopFeed has learned that Miller's company quietly filed for bankruptcy a little over a month ago on December 17, 2003. Our suspicions were raised when Koch Distribution, announced yesterday that they had signed Miller and his label New No Limit to a distribution deal (Miller's former distributor was major label Universal). Known as the final resting place for failing artists, in 2003 Billboard Magazine said that Koch has, "a tendency to sign acts that appear to be past their commercial prime." Headed by Austrian native Michael Koch, the privileged son of Franz Koch, the company's Long Island, New York based independent distribution company has given many financially strapped rappers a final chance when no one else would touch them. Just recently Koch signed Suge Knight's Tha Row Records (formerly Death Row) to a new deal--presumably Knight will run the label from prison. Koch's own rap roster, run by the portly Alan Grunblatt, boasts such stellar hit makers as Grand Puba, Onyx and Afu-Ra -- all has-been, or never-was artists. The most bewildering part of this story is that just a year ago, Miller was ranked on Fortune Magazine's "40 Richest Under 40" list with an estimated $361 million in holdings. But, as these documents clearly show [Page 1, Page 2, Page 3] Percy Miller's No Limit army is suffering heavy casualties. Miller is scheduled to appear in court for a bankruptcy hearing in California in two weeks on February 2nd. |
Maybe if he wouldn't have bought his 13 year old son CARS and a house and all other sorts of superficial bullisht including that house with gold steps, he might have 2 nickels to rub together.

Brandy's Brother Joining B2K, Group's Business Partners Say
Nobody, not even J-Boog, Raz-B or Lil Fizz, was sure if B2K could function as trio. Now it looks like they don't have to find out, because B2K are once again a foursome.
According to Boog, Raz and Fizz's business partners, Brandy's younger brother, Ray J, will replace former lead singer Omarion, who left earlier this month. A label spokesperson for B2K had no knowledge of the roster addition. Omarion — while in New York recently with Marques Houston promoting B2K's upcoming film, "You Got Served" — said he's had a bit of a change of heart since making statements about the group being over. "In the future, I hope we do get back together. I would definitely want to do that [once any solo projects are over]. I think the people would enjoy it," Omarion told MTV News. Meanwhile, O is starting work on his untitled album, due this spring. Omarion said fans can expect something different than what they heard from him as part of a quartet. "I'm gonna ... speak on some personal issues. Do a lot more issues. I'm gonna take on the whole business side of it this time around. I'm 19 years old, I think it's more important this time in my career that I'm involved a lot more." Part of speaking on personal issues means addressing his departure from B2K in his music.
