this thread made me almost wear a pair of very low waisted jeans today...but then i changed my mind!

i wore low waisted jeans yesterday. i thought about you guys when i leaned forward and felt my underwear starting to show. isnt it nice to know that my underwear makes me think of you guys?

First of all,

Low-waisted jeans have been out of style since 2002! High-fashion says so!

Second of all,

I think it's tacky when you are sitting in class and some chick is sitting in front of your with her bum and her rolls hanging out for everyone to see... I mean even the skinny girls get fat protruding from their sides with them low-lows..I personally think it's time to move on...


To the ladies who don't wear low-waisted jeans,

Is it me or is getting really hard to find jeans that don't show your crack when you sit or pick something up from the floor?

I highly doubt anyone would get pissed off because you look skanky. It just gives them a good laugh.

Weird thread. Funny how blanket generalizations on either side don't work (and all the catty passive aggressive insults are hiiiilarious). Both sides are right- there are times when low waisted jeans are not appropriate, and certain people shouldn't be wearing them point blank. If ya got rolls or back fat just say no and buy some flat front normal waisted pants.

But on some people they are a flattering style of jean that looks good- as long as you cover up the butt crack/thong (although I really don't think it's sucha big deal- I have a couple pairs and I'm sure that at some point someone has seen something when I bent over, but it's not as if I went around all day with butt crack hanging out).

Oh well, to each their own.

I think low-rise is alright as long as your tummy doesn't hang out, and same goes for your ass and underwear. But I don't like seeing some chick with blue jean camel toe either, and I don't like when my jeans rise past my belly button. I feel like Urkel.

High fashion also says that Urkel jeans are back in. :p So I'm not sure how seriously I'd take them.

Tell that to the old hag who gave me a stink look as I went down the escalator at the mall the other day. :rolleyes:

Hon, high fashion brought the low-waisted jeans to our malls..i'm sure the urkel jeans are going to be the new arrivals for next season...and who knows maybe even take-over the low-rise madness..

I don't mind low waisted jeans if they're just low-waisted. I mind the jeans that have 3" between the crotch and the buttons. The only place it could possibly be a appropriate to wear those is out clubbing or something. Today there was a girl in my Macro class wearing a pink cropped sweater and uber low rise jeans - we could see from her hipbones about a foot up of skin. It's 40 out, put a damn shirt on.

The main difference being that most women, excluding those who are so insecure that they follow every whim of fashion simply because it's "in," realize that there is absolutely no one that looks good in high-waisted jeans. If runway models can't pull it off, how can the average American woman expect to?

High fashion does influence everyday fashion, but it doesn't dictate it. Every year there are plenty of "trends" that don't make it off the runway or out of the stores because average consumer thinks they're ugly. And I think that the legacy of Steve Urkel is still in enough effect that the average woman won't want to be seen wearing his pants for at least five or ten more years.

And to continue on S&S's trend, the couture trends that do make it down to the lowly regular people are toned down. For example, on the runways this year people were showing a return to the 60s mod look. My store sold some pieces with geometric patterns and lots of black/red but nothing you;'d see on Twiggy back in the day.

The other day I went to this coffee place in the mall to get a drink. I was standing there and the girl behind the counter turned around and bent over. HOLY CRAP! I think I witnessed the first female plumber's crack EVER!

I know that's the style/fashion, but seriously, some of these girl's pants look like they shrank in the dryer :rolleyes:

I wonder what her employer thinks of those pants?

If you are fat, stubby, or even the slightest bit thick, they look horrible, but if you have a perfect, SLENDER body, they look great. It isn't fair, but true.

That said, if the person is overweight, or thick, or just has 5 pounds to lose, and THEY WANT to wear them, go ahead... It looks bad, but why not? Wear what you want..

SAme for guys by the way... Don't go buy super low jeans if you have a huge butt

I own at least 10-12 pairs of low rise jeans. I really do not think there is anything skanky about wearing low waisted or low rise jeans. I'm a size 0 and I do not think they make me look bad at all.
