I've secretly wanted to be a professional violinist since I was about 7 or 8 years old. Considering I didn't start lessons until I was 24, I think I'm going to have to be an English professor instead:)

Pro cheerleaders are paid dimes. They don't do it as a full-time job so the good news is that you can be a pro shopper and cheer coach and cheer on the side!

I'd love to be a national columnist.

Cedar 04-05-2004 11:12 AM

I want to write novels and short stories. Or be an opera singer.

Clockwork08 04-26-2004 05:17 AM

Governor of OH or a Senator (I would say president but I decided long ago any job where people would be trying to kill me on a daily basis would thrown out the window)

But of Part of me thinks being a literary agent be cool-- reading and trying to discover the next NY Bestseller

And the little girl in me is screaming--ACTRESS

sairose 04-27-2004 01:29 AM

be a world renown saxophonist/saxophone teacher. Not Kenny G (please no one even mention him, he just plays elevator music). I want to be one of "the" names in saxophone, like Eugene Rousseau, or Ken Fischer (names only wind players know, so don't worry that you don't recognize them :p )

I hate to be all nerdy. But that really IS what my dream job would be. I'm slowly working on the sax professor thing. Being world renown? We'll see.

swissmiss04 04-27-2004 02:50 PM

Work as a film musicologist/music archivist
Teach ethnomusicology and popular music studies at the univ. level
Write books
Join the Peace Corps for a couple years
Start a band
Teach piano lessons

At this rate I'll need to live awhile. Not that I mind.

cashmoney 04-27-2004 03:05 PM

I just want to get paid to look good. Thats it.

;) :D  :) :D

Corsulian 04-28-2004 03:58 PM

Efficiency Consultant

chideltjen 04-30-2004 05:34 PM

Currently a graphic designer...

However, I don't think it's what I want to do. I get a lot of compliments on my writing and my wit so I thought about copywriting for major magazines. Maybe just a freelance or something. Do design on the side.

However if I had to start over completely I have a few options:

A CSI (yes like the TV show...)
A broadway lead
A trance dj (that is CLEAN for once, what a concept...)
Tinkerbell at Disneyland
A graphic designer for a major record label... basically designing tour materials, CD covers, etc. (Right now I have the title of production artist...)
Anything with a lot of perks: like free gym memberships if you work for 24hourFitness, concert tix if you work for Clear Channel, free clothes if you are a fashion designer, a movie star, who just gets free stuff in general...

AGDee 05-01-2004 12:36 AM

I decided today that what I'd really like to do for a living is....

I would seriously, no joking love to be an Opera Singer...or on Broadway...or hey, maybe both...

Kevin 06-13-2004 02:03 AM

I'd be a lawyer practicing in family law -- should start "officially" working towards that sometime in August (assuming the LSAT goes as I expect it to).

Or maybe a fiddle playing rock star. It could happen.

Jaggergirl 06-23-2004 07:11 PM

I really have no idea what I want to do as a Career. It really sucks.

Really all I want is to work at a job that is entertaining, with people I like, that pays me what I deserve.

Is that so much to ask?

APhi Sailorgirl 06-25-2004 01:34 PM

The perfect job for me (nerd alert) would be owning my own scrapbook store, in Annapolis, and have it be really successful.

sageofages 06-25-2004 01:44 PM

Possibly pursue a career in politics or a certain government agency afterwards.

astroAPhi 07-21-2004 02:35 PM

I want to be an astronaut. :o

I think I'm a 5-year old stuck in a 22-year old's body.

Pearls4Life 12-03-2009 05:49 PM

This is a really trick Question...

What you thought you wanted to do at some point may have changed. Now the idea is to re-evaluate your skills and look at the direction that your life is going and ask yourself is this where I want to 1. be, 2. go, 3. expand ?

So often as a recruiter I see changes in careers when a person is actually least expected due to his or her lifestyle and or lack of work skills or even a layoff. Let me know if you have any questions.

1. Celebrity Chef (with 1, if not more shows on the Food Network)
2. Saturday Night Live actor/writer...I think the current cast is boring, so they need some new talent
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleader

ShaedyKD, I agree. I like your thinking.

1.) I would LOVE to be a comedian for MadTv or Saturday Night Live. How fun would that be?

2.) A music video director. I don't want to direct movies or shows, just music videos. I know, its a bit weird-but I actually started out at Penn State as a communications major to fulfill that dream. Then I changed my major.

3.) A CIA or FBI Agent. I later changed my major from communications (film) to Russian Translation with a minor in German, after returning from Iraq. After a semester or so, I thought-this sucks and I will be here FOREVER. That dream got thrown out the window.

4.) Anything with Phi Mu (nationally)

5.) A Greek Life Advisor/ Academic Advisor

6.) Eventually-I'd love to be a Professor

Now-I'm not 100% sure what I would find super fulfilling. Hopefully my current plan to be something great will work out.

LucyKKG 12-03-2009 09:00 PM

If I could just learn and practice foreign languages all day, I'd do that! I don't think that's a real job, unfortunately. I'd like to work at a high school career center as a college admissions counselor. I'm working on that...slowly...

unicorn 12-03-2009 09:53 PM

I'd love to be a professional snarkster/devil's advocate consultant. I love the idea of being paid to tell people that they're wrong.

SigKapDove 10-06-2010 01:58 AM

I really want to be an army nurse. I've thought about this for a long time and considered all positives and negatives (believe me), and that's what I really want to do. :)

I should be finishing up my nursing prerequisites in the coming spring semeste (provided I can get into the classes I need), and ideally I'd like to transfer into the upper-division portion of a BSN program out of state next fall. And I'll enroll in army rotc if my master plan works out.

I'll let you guys know how that goes!

nikki1920 10-06-2010 01:40 PM

1. Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in Adolescent and Addiction treatment.

2. a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader *i'm waaay too short*

3. Professional house sitter

4. Social media expert: sit on FB all day and peruse the pages

5. Work with special education policy, specifically IDEA part C.

OOooh, I want that job, too. If not that, I'd love to have my own television show.

thetygerlily 10-06-2010 03:25 PM

Secret shopper. That'd be awesome. I'm all about customer service.

In lieu of that, what I actually do & enjoy is usability, focusing on how the user interacts with a product. I'd love to do more.

Now, if I can find that in a job for like 30-35 hours a week instead of 50...

ETA- for those that want to be efficiency consultants or get paid to tell people what they're doing wrong: Six Sigma. Lots of fun.
